Are kids allowed to wear their Halloween costumes into DLR/DCA after Halloween? We just bought our kids their Stormtrooper costumes from the Disney Store and they love it and we're planning a trip to DLR/DCA maybe the weekend following Thanksgiving. Therefore, we wondering how Disney feels about kids dressing up. It's my understanding that Disney doesn't like adults dressing up as Disney characters because they don't want people to think that someone in their costume is actually representing the character but do they have a problem with a 7 year old and a 5 year old dressing up as Stormtroopers?

You'll be fine, as stated under 12 can dress up, most are girls in princess dresses so if you deviate from this, like with your storm troopers, you're likely to get extra comments and attention from CMs.

According to the Halloween ticket the cutoff age to wear costumes outside of a party is 9. Either way, OP you will be fine.

They don't allow masks outside of the party, or fake guns. But the actual costume part should be fine.

Not that not matters for the OP, but I thought the age cut--off for wearing costumes was 9. The MHP tickets state "Guests of all ages may only wear costumes to the Mickey's Halloween Party event to which they have valid tickets. During normal park operating hours, costumes are only permitted for Guests ages 9 and younger."

As SMD said, guests are not allowed to wear masks during normal operating hours. So depending on how the Stormtroopers helmet looks, it may or may not be allowed. Also, the guns/blasters might not be allowed depending of how realistic they look.

Thanks for the info guys. The mask is one those half masks in that only the front face is covered and the side and back of the head are exposed. Frankly, I don't see my boys wearing the mask for a long time anyways but we'll see. The Disney store doesn't sell the blasters but I remember the gift shop by star tours does sell the blasters so unless they've changed, we were thinking of maybe just buying those blasters.

Our almost two year daughter has the white Princess Leia dress with the hair bun beanie so it should be cool to see them walking the park.

I don't think the helmet/mask will be allowed. You could wear it if it covered the back/side of the head (like the Mickey Darth Vader helmets that they sell in parks do), but they don't want anything covering your face.

I must have known at some point the age was 9, but some reason had it older in my head. I thought 12, but I must be confusing the makeovers at BBB with dressing up. The interesting thing is my oldest did a makeover at BBB in June and we brought our own dress. She is 10 years old, they knew it, they allowed her to change in the dressing room and nobody ever mentioned the age limit to us. Maybe a bit of pixie dust in not stopping us or they felt she could pass for 9, I'm not sure. Either way, I'm sad those days have come to an end for her and are closely approaching for the next oldest. Just thankful we were able to do it this last trip and will make the most out of the Halloween party coming up!

DD9 and DS6 *love* dressing up at DLR, no matter what time of year it is. (Since DD9 looks young, I'm hoping that she'll get to still dress like a princess after her birthday in March for a while. Worse comes to worse, I'll put a set of "regular" clothes into the Mom-backpack-of-doom for her to change into if a CM says anything.)

DD dresses as princesses and Tinkerbell. DS has dressed as Woody, Buzz, Peter Pan, Mr. Potatohead (best costume ever, as it has facial features that you can take on and off because they are attached with velcro--Alice at Goofy's Kitchen cracked us up by pretending to "wear" the eyes, etc.), Lightning McQueen, and a Jedi warrior. I'm surprising him this year with a Dusty (from Planes) costume and an Olaf costume. (My kids play with the costumes all year long afterwards with their friends, so I figure it's worth the investment. Also, I usually buy them on sale at Disneystore.com, Target, etc.)

Once DD can't dress up in actual costume, she'll go the cosplay route, I'm sure. She knows this is the last "official" year she can put on a princess costume and is sad about it, so we're already talking about alternatives so she can still feel like she's wearing something *magical*! (Shh, don't tell her, but I got her Maleficent and Pirate Fairy costumes to wear next month!):dance3:

My DD10 loves dressing up too. She turned 10 in Feb but I still let her wear her tinker bell costume in March for one last time. She is also small for her age and no one questioned it. She even got some great interactions from CMs. ..and she loved it. I have now gotten her into Disneybounding. It was an easy transition for her since mom and dad can do it too ;-) Our trip this summer we did little mermaid. DD10 wore a purple tank top with a homemade green skirt that I attached a mermaid tail to. DH was king Triton ( green shorts/tan tee) and I was ursula (black shorts and top with a purple cardigan and a homemade shell necklace.) DD loved it that we all matched and participated.

Love this! Very cool!

I forgot that my boys have the Stormtrooper beanies with the Mickey Ears so that will actually be perfect for the park. I have my Darth Vader sweatshirt and Darth Vader beanie with the Mickey Ears so I can wear that and along with my Stormtroopers, we can escort our daughter dressed as Princess Leia.

Those beanies sound perfect. I thought about suggesting them, but I wasn't sure if they're still for sale, plus they're kind of expensive to buy just to match a costume. On Disney's list of prohibited items it says replica weapons not sold in the parks. So if you were going to buy blasters in the park, that should be fine.
