Kids watching Nick instead of Disney....

My kids have started to watch Nick over Disney now on TV. Kinda sad...
I kept them away from SpongeBob for so long, but now they're hooked. At this rate, I guess we'll be going over to Universal before I know it. Bummer.

I'm trying to get back to Disney so my ds will learn more characters. But, when you have a dh who likes Spongbob as much as ds does, it's kinda hard.

As far as Nick is concerned...what is there on Disney that my kids want to watch? Nothing...every once in a while they watch it, not very often.

did you see the link on mousesavers for US/IOA tickets through rci? $387 or so for 7days for 2 adult 2kids...

We weren't planning on a US sidetrip either....RPR, here we come!!!

There's room for both parks . They both have their own separate feel! Disney has their special magic, that it's inside. I guess it will be forever special, since it brings the child out in you, plus it allows sweet memories going as a child, with my family. But Universal is so much fun too! WE had a blast there! The cm were so great, with smiles and helping out. The RPR is so beautiful too, and the staff was great. Even the maids were friendly with smiles and hi's. We are thinking of buying into DVC and I keep thinking ohh, but I don't wanna give up visits to Universal! So we will have to just go there every other year I guess and stay on the weekends. I think too, you can get spoiled at universal too, because of their Front Of the Line access, when you stay on property.
So you and your kids will have fun, but you still will want to return to the Big Mouse too-don't worry!

My kids go in spurts, Nick for a while, Disney for a while. They have been back to Disney for a few months now after about a year of all Nick, no Disney. Going to Universal and IOA is a great time too, I love it just as much as Disney, especially with the front of the line passes for hotel guests. There is room for both and you can have a great time at both, trust me.

Say it isn't so!!!!! I went to Universal once the year it opened. My DD is 13 and still keeps Disney Channel on in her room all the time!! Everyone I work with says I've brainwashed her.....and thats bad why???!!! At her age she could be watching MTV!!!!

I know what you mean, they love Nick!!! I have been trying to get them to watch Disney for the Playhouse Disney show, but they have no interest !! Unfortunately we won't be visiting Universal this trip, but we will be there agian soon. Although I have to say my two year old can pick Mickey out anywhere, I think he will be the one to find all the hidden Mickey's .

BTW that Mickey photo is SO cute!!!! You should put that in some kind of contest for cutest baby!!! !!!

We have managed to keep Universal a "secret" from our kids for a while now -- the gig may soon be up! They are reading those billboards as we enter Florida and thinking -- hey -- I don't remember seeing THAT ride at WDW!?!? Why have we kept it a secret? Just never felt like hoofing it over there, honestly, when there was already so much to do in WDW. Besides, we knew once they went looking for the thrill rides, we would be over at Universal. It was just a matter of time. This trip coming up is an all-Disney event, but we know next trip we are looking at about 2 days at Universal...

As for TV programming -- well, it's understandable, and mirrored in the movie theaters as well. My kids loved Shrek II (non-Disney) but that Disney Home on Range was a big cow patty if ya ask me -- what a dud. I wasn't especially fond of Brother Bear, either -- but it was leagues ahead of 'Range. As for TV, none of my kids cared for Bear in Big BLue House... but they liked Blue's Clue's (in the "steve" era only, though). My kids don't care for JoJo's circus (makes my boys gag) and give Stanley only a fleeting glance... but they can recite every line of Spongebob's every show. The last Disney show that ever caught their interest was House of Mouse... and honestly, that show depended upon showing OLD DISNEY CLIPS. When oh when will Disney do anything NEW (and GOOD)?

My kids watch both. ALthough we're doing the combo WDW/US/IOA trip for the first time this year, I thought next year since we're doing 12 days at DIsney we might go over to the HIFS (it's going to be a Nick hotel) after for two days just to recuperate from our WDW vacation and let them get their fill of Nick.

Comparing Disney to Universal is like comparing McDonalds to KFC. Yeah, they both serve fast food, but there is a big difference in the food on the menu.

Heck, there is a big difference between Universal and IOA.

My kids are older and love Universal IOA. Except for Space Mountain and Big Thunder, they could care less about MK. MGM is more liked and Epcot is great to them.

My 12 yr old loves Universal and the 15 yr old loves IOA.

My daughter (3 years old) likes both Nick and Disney Channel. She did go through a faze where she was watching more Nick, Jr, but seems to watch Disney a little more, now. She watches Max & Ruby, Dora, Blues Clues , Little Bill & Wild Thornberries (no spongebob for her) on Nick. And on Disney Channel she loves Jo Jo’s Circus, House of Mouse, Kim Possible, Stanley and the Koala Brothers. Plus every movie she watches is a Disney Movie and half of her toys are Disney toys…lol…its ridiculous! lol

I have considered going to another park when we are in Orlando, but can never bring myself to do it. We get an annual pass and just to nothing but Disney…its great! lol

It sounds like most of the kids watching Nick are the boys. Disney doesn't have much for the guys. My 6 year old DD is addicted to Kim Possible, Lizzie McGuire, Zenon, Even Stevens, Raven, can you tell it is on a lot. She also loves House of Mouse. Just bought the Cheetah Girls Sountrack today. She loves Spongebob, but she is 6 going on 16 so it is the older girl shows all the way.

My kids are 6, 9, 11, and 13, so we are WAY past the Disney and Nick preschool stuff. We all like Sponge Bob, in fact it is on right now, but the older kid Disney stuff is great. I think Even Stevens and Raven are great for the whole family, you know like network tv used to be before it turned into trash. We also really enjoy all of the made for tv movies Disney has. As for the parks, we have been to US in the past and were not impressed. We have no desire to go to IOA as it is mostly thrill rides and we are not into that at all. I guess if your kids are into coasters you may end up spending most of your time at IOA, I'm glad that is not in our future! I don't know how much of US studios ties into Nick now, when we went there was not much tie-in, just Jaws, Twister, ET, and lots of other movies that my kids have not seen. I agree Disney needs a movie re-vamp, but that's another thread!
