My family will be sailing on the Fantasy on the 12th. My son is 14 and he wants to have charging privileges. I'm afraid he will lose his KTTW card thus giving whoever finds it charging ability or he will rack up insane charges buying milkshakes and such. He has some Disney gift cards and his own spending money. Will he be able to pay for a milkshake or such with his gift card or cash.... or does everything need to be paid for with a room key? Thanks

Basically everything is charged to the stateroom KTTW, but gift cards can be used in the gift shops. So smoothies, arcade, and such are all charged to the stateroom.

Enjoy your cruise!

It nay be a pain, but you can check his charging balances daily, or more, and if he seems to be abusing the privilege, you can probably revoke his charging power mid-cruise. I usually check my kids spending, but last 7 day cruise, they both totaled $25 combined for the week, so I obviously didn't have to worry about it.

We are on the same cruise and I have a 14 year old son and never thought about this! We have cruised several times before and my kiddos never had the ability to charge in case they lost the key. Now I have to really think about this!!!

Paid shakes vs free ice cream
Arcade vs Xbox on Edge or Vibe

Have him think about it before he spends his money. Also, both clubs typically go one night to the Arcade as a group and during that time the Arcade is free... They also get free smoothies at times AFAIK.

I don't know about the smoothies but in the stores, they ask for the room number when paying for items. So if he loses the card, whoever finds it can't use it unless they know the room number too (just in case that eases your mind a bit about it getting lost).

I believe when your KTTW is scanned your picture pops up on the CMs screen so it would be hard for someone to get away with using a card that is not theirs.

On our first cruise I gave my 2 DS ( 10 and 13 at the time ) charging privileges and they each had gift cards to use at gift shop. I worried the whole time that they would lose their KTTWC. My oldest DS lost a $50 giftcard somewhere in the gift shop and I was with him at the time. Neither boy charged anything the entire cruise. On second cruise i asked them if they would be ok without charging privileges so I wouldn't have to worry about it, and they both were fine with with it. They both found the arcade boring ( and they are big video game players) and there was certainly enough food and drinks available for no additional cost.

I allow my 11 and 14 yo both charging privileges with a catch. They each start out with a 50.00 gift card which i hold ransom until almost the end of the cruise, i check the account to make sure they have been responsible and if not whatever they charged that they did not have permission for, that amount is forfeited to mom via gift card. HTH

This is true when you enter or exit the ship - but not when you purchase drinks or smoothies or souvenirs.
