I'll be cruising with my daughters, 13 and 11. After looking over the activities for the teens vs the younger kids; I think they would both have a better time in the Lab rather than in the teen program. Can I register my 13 yo in the younger program with my 11 yo? I'd like to keep them together rather than have each one on their own. Opinions? Advice? Thanks.

Welcome to the DIS!!

Go speak to the counselors when you get on board ship. Generally, they will allow a child to go down a level in the clubs, provided there is room. Be aware though, that once she goes down she cannot return back up to the teen group.

Several have done this with their 13 year olds, especially when there is a sibling to be with, and report that it worked out well. Good luck!!

I'm planning to do the same thing when we cruise next year with my DS! One will be 12 and the other only 13 by one month. My older DS is very shy and I know he would not feel comfortable around older teens by himself. I doubt he'll spend much time in the clubs at all anyway, but when he does he'll want to do some of the Lab activities with his brother. (Then again, our cruise is a year away and with all the raging hormones he could change drastically by then, LOL. )

my dd was 11 on our first cruise and hated the oceeners, by no means is she one of "those" girls, but she likes sports, and just hanging out. It seemed the boys were more into the stuff they had going on. We leave in a week and she is 12 and is dreading the clubs!!! Probably won't have her do anything, but will try to bump her up to the teens for the "sports" stuff while on Castaway Cay. She would definately enjoy that. She played basketball on Castaway Cay, but was almost as tall as the hoop!! They sometimes put the 8-12 year olds together, and she is 5'6"!

It's funny, because I think my younger son, even now at age 11, would be perfectly okay in the teen group. He's just got more of an all-around outgoing personality. He also likes sports of pretty much any kind. If by chance my older DS starts acting more comfortable around other teens by next year, then I will see if we can bump up the younger instead of bumping down the older, LOL.
