Kids splash area?

Is there a splash zone or water-themed playground in either of the Universal Orlando parks? For some reason I vaguely remember there being one last time and telling my son that we would come prepared with a change of clothes for him on our next visit and now I can't remember which park it was...or if I'm thinking of another park/vacation all together. My mind is mush. LOL

Thanks

Pam

Yes, it's in the Kidszone area in Universal studios by Barney and ET.

I'm a huge fan of Curious George goes to town (interactive water play area at USF!)

I am guilty of going into the water area, getting hold of a cannon, and trying to shoot people who want to stay dry (before people attack me for this, maybe those who want to stay dry should follow the dry path). The funny thing is I can spend a long time in this area and still walk away fairly dry!

But I also love the foam ball room! Throwing (I'm a weak thrower, lol) foam balls at unsuspecting adults or forming rivalaries against kids younger then me (who for some reason all can throw the balls harder than I can, lol).

The whole area is fantastic!

I love a chance to post a picture. It's awesome! If you have a little one, go early before it gets crowded so you can keep an eye on them.

Also, there is a small water play area in IOA in Suess Landing. It is called If I ran the zoo. My son had fun in both water areas.

Besides the Curious George area and the "If I Ran the Zoo" area at Seuss Landing, there are a number of interactive water falls and fountains in Toon Lagoon. Not really a place to play like the other places, but it does give you a chance to get wet and cool off.

our 2 dds will be 4 & 22 mo. for our US trip, i'm just wondering if we should all plan on changing into bathing suits or not since we'd have to obviously be w/ them every step of the way? do you really get that wet? what do other parents of young ones do in this area? worth it?

I haven't gotten wet enough in the play areas to need a swimsuit. If you're careful, you can avoid getting soaked while still being in the areas right with your kids. Of course, ds does get soaked and I dress him in a bathing suit and tank top and just slip the tank top off when he's playing.

You do get dripping wet on the Popeye ride though. I usually wear board shorts and a fast drying t-shirt instead of having to pack clothes and change. We don't stay on site, so I keep clothes in the car just in case. I'm guessing you'll have a stroller with a 22 month old so you could always keep some clothes packed just in case?

Have fun!

You can get around without getting completely soaked but just have to be more careful. I didnt see any parents with swimsuits on but would just make sure you wear something that dries quickly. I saw adults and young teens getting in the water with jeans and tshirts on - shoes and all. I just couldnt imagine walking around with those heavy wet clothes on. In If I Ran a Zoo they had a shower like thing and they would just walk right under it or over at Curious George they have this big bucket that dumps lots of water and you really get soaked. When the bell rings just get out of the way for that one because it comes down fast and you wouldnt want your little ones under it.

When its hot its a pleasure to cool off in this area. Aside from being able to get soaked, if you choose they also have the mister fans along the seating areas. I love those! Your little ones will most likely want to be in the middle of the action and if you follow off the footsteps you can get very wet. I wear quick drying clothes and have never had a problem getting dry even after being soaked.Have the kids wear their suits under their clothes.

I have seen a few kids change into bathing suits, but never any adults. You may get some odd looks if you did that. We just wear something quick drying the days we plan on doing the water rides. You will get soaked on those.

I don't know how old the OP's kids are...but in addition to the areas mentioned, there is a water cannon area in the Jurassic Park play area...where you can do battle with others, so that's another opportunity to get wet...but not for real little kids...

Oh, and the other place is the talking fountain in the Lost Continent....if it's warm, he can be very naughty and get guests very wet! It's pretty clear where the line is that people wanting to stay dry shouldn't cross too! This is a fun stop for young and older (and the jokes can be pretty funny for the adults), but sometimes the direct hit startles the little ones, so it's good to watch for awhile so they can see what they're wandering up to! :thumbsup2

Can't think of anything else right now...but I agree with dressing with lightweight, fast drying clothes and waterproof shoes...so you can enjoy the fun and not be totally uncomfortable if you DO get really wet! I also will wear something like board shorts or lightweight nylon shorts with something waterproof underneath, like bikini bottoms and then a bathing suit top (tankini or bikini) with a loose fitting tank or sleeveless shirt over it.

If you're staying offsite and plan to have dinner, you can always rent a locker for the day for more appropriate attire.

I had it easy with 2 boys, they just wore their bathing suit all the time when they were little and we went to the parks! :thumbsup2

Thank you for the replies! My son is going to want to get soaked and this better prepares me for a change of clothes for dinner, etc all depending on the time of day that we get to this section of the park(s). You guys are awesome! :cool1: :thanks:

Ring, Ring, Ring!!!
The big buckets of water that are dumped on you in Curious George's Playground are hilarious!
When the bell rings, all the kids come running ...
My DH and I just love sitting and watching the reenactment of Pavlov's dog experiment.
The kids just need to see what happens once and they all just stop whatever they're doing to come get soaked ... over, and over, and over ...
I think we spend at least 2 hours there every time we go with our kids when the weather is warm enough.
Just stay out of the way if you want to stay dry!
Enjoy!
Rose :)
