I am having the worst time finding cute, stylish shoes for little girls that don't have a HEEL on them.

Why on earth would they make shoes for a 4 year old with a heel.

I am about to put her in athletic shoes or plain mary janes with her dresses so she doesn't break her neck on the playground.

I want a pair of flat brown girls boots or something with some style. I can find them for boys, but not for girls.

Go to www.landsend.com .

You will find PLENTY of appropriate shoes for kids. That's pretty much the only place I can find decent shoes for my 10-year-old DD, who has NO interest in heels. ;)

Good idea!

How do you know they will fit?? Have you ever had a problem?

No, I know her shoe size and the shoes run very true to size, plus they have a size chart and instructions for measuring a child's feet. I've never had to return any kid's shoes I've bought through Lands End; I have returned some I've bought for me for various reasons.

Be sure to check out the Overstocks store too for some great bargains. :)

I found the perfect pair there too! And no sales tax.

Oh no, now there IS sales tax! I guess they sell stuff at Sears now too.

SOME stuff is at Sears but not everything, and you'd pay tax at a local store too. I don't think they charge tax here but I honestly don't remember. :) Even with tax it's worth it to me to find good shoes that she'll outgrow long before they wear out. :)

Try www.llbean.com too. When my dd was younger I got some of her stuff there. I got my son's sneakers there this year. If you have an LLBean credit card shipping and monogramming are free too!

Tax on shoes? Thats crazy! Here in NJ, PA, there is no tax on shoes.

I bought Lands Ends shoes for my DD at Sears, and it was on sale and I had a coupon.. so that worked really well!

Mermaid,
In Pa. we have NO sales tax on clothes or shoes!

I always have good luck at Stride Rite. My 4yo dd is very hard to fit and picky about shoes. They have some very cute "little" girl styles.(they have some that look too old for this age too but they have a good balance). I have a hard time finding clothes that aren't too old looking too. Why do people want these little kids to grow up so fast?

www.hannaandersson.com They sell a brand of shoes called Elefanten (sp?). These shoes are also sold at Nordstroms and Von Maur that I know of. I buy them for my 2 year old. They are sooo cute! But, be prepared...slightly expensive. The lasted really well last season though, and if her feet hadn't grown so much, she could have worn them this winter.

Have you looked at Target. They usually have girl's shoes with no heels. DD, 4 yrs old also, loves her black pair of shoes. I bought the next larger size for her b/c they are so hard to find sometimes.

Wow, I wish we had no tax on clothes or shoes!!! We pay like 9%. But we have no state income tax.

I have the llbean credit card, I love that thing. That is where I got my kids backpacks.

Tried Hanna, I love that store. They don't have brown=(. I may just have to settle. I have a story about my DD's first pair of elefantens. They are now on their 4th little girl and still look good! They do make brown elefanten mary janes, I just wish they had brown boots or something with a little more style this year.

The stride rite by my house didn't seem to have anything but sneakers and heels and the same with nordstroms. They have a boot by a company called Astor, but it was $84. I am tempted, but DH would probably disown me (can you disown your wife???) They don't even have brown mary janes. But I see some cute shoes on their website....any idea if you can order them if they are not at the retail store??

And, I didn't see anything at target either. Again, lots of cute tennies and heels.

Lands end does have a suede boot that doesn't have a heel. it is only 34 dollars, but by the time I add tax and shipping it is up to 48 or so. Which is as much as the elefantens. And I am terrified they won't fit.

And I found a cute pair of brown boots at gap.com, but they were out of her size!!

Anyway, thanks everyone for your help. I am probably making too much out of this. They are just kid's shoes. Guess she'll just have to wear her tennies till more styles come out.

No tax on clothes, shoes or toilet paper in NJ! (I don't think diapers either, but I havent done diapers in a long time!)

lol at the toilet paper! Really?? how funny!

Do you have a state income tax?
