Kids Return to School When in January?

We are going to Disney Dec 31-Jan 6 because the kids here don't return to school from x-mas break until Jan 9. I was hoping that would mean less crowds than our normal week after x-mas time to go to Disney. I was wondering when the kids in your area have to return to school from x-mas break?

Here in our town in NE Ohio, they go back the 3rd.

Many schools in SE had that week off last year, we went and it was crowded. Was the same in 2002 and expect the same in 2007 Wasn't as bad at Universal Parks. We are going again this year for the entire week because we are out until the 8th. Also (1) many Euro schools have a longer holiday than we do and you will see those families as well (2) Marathon and Half Marathon split to different days allowing more runners as of last year, so the number of racers is somewhere in the 30,000+.......that will be the 5/6/7th including the Family 5k on the 5th.

I go expecting crowds and if they are lighter than it's a bonus.

We go back on the 8th.

We went the week after New Years last year. The crowds weren't bad. You just need to plan carefully. Avoid EE mornings and eves and you will be fine. We go back on the 7th I think, whatever that Monday is. It got less and less crowded as the week went on.

Schools go back here January 9th. We'll be at WDW first week of January also, just like this year. It was crowded!

In Orlando I think we go back Jan 3. The parks empty out around the 3rd also. I noticed last year it got pretty empty after the 3rd or 4th so you might have a couple nice slow days at the end of your trip!

Whether it's busy or not, just enjoy it, don't let the crowds get to you!

January 8th...we will be there Jan 1-7....it will be fine.,...you will have fun!

Yes - Orange County schools go back on the 3rd, but they get out on the 18th - a full week before Christmas! I love it this way... we had a great time the week before Christmas last year before the big crowds really got here - Christmas week we spend touring the resorts and playing mini golf.

Thanks for all the info. We are used to going the week between x-mas and new year's anyway, so we can deal with crowds. We will just expect what we usually see and have a great time anyway. Thanks!
