Kids purchase power

I have a 7 year old that has earned some money toward souvenirs on our next trip and also have a 2 year old that thinks he is a big boy. Can we load some money onto magic bands or have to use a gift card for them? I want the oldest to get to buy her own stuff and start learning more about buy now means nothing later but also want to let brother buy a couple things too just want to know current or best way to do it.

Yes you can get them gift cards, after each purchase it'll show their remaining balance so that's helpful

SMART! We learned early on that giving an allowance for a trip not only provides a learning experience, it solves the "can I get this?" at every shop! Our son (now 32 with a doctorate) saved all year long (from about 4 years old) to splurge on a big item like a Lego set on our annual trip to Disney. When he was 13 he was able to buy a pair of Oakley sunglasses at DS and still has them to this date. He knew he could pick out a hat and a tee shirt on us and then his stash (we kicked in an appropriate amount each year) was his to spend on anything he wanted.

He learned so much from that simple experience and was able to survive college and grad school, get married and buy a home because he knows how to budget money!

I would give your older child cash in order to learn to count change. Perhaps you can give a couple singles to the little one and "hold" the rest. In a year or two, you'll have two savers. It's a great time to talk about a weekly allowance for simple chores! Good for you!

There is no way to “load” money onto a magicband. If you are staying on property, you can charge purchases to your room and pay it off at the front desk using a gift card or credit card. You usually have to tell the front desk at check-in if you want the kids bands to be able to be used for purchases.

As others have said, you can do a gift card, but MB charges can't be limited--you either activate the MB for all purchases or none (the default for kids is no charging privileges). You also need to enter a pin to use MBs for purchases.
