Will they let children over 9 order from the kids menu? I have reservations at San Angel Inn and only see items on the kids menu that they would eat.
thanks,

Yes they will

My niece is 12.5 and we are planning on her eating off a kids menu since she is so darn picky

I'm almost 50 and I've ordered from the children's menu! DD and DH are much more adventurous eaters than me so sometimes the most appealing choices were on the kids menu as far as I was concerned.

I order off the kids' menu and they have no problem with it. Even charge you the kids' price. (So if your kids are "too old" for the kids' menu, skip DDP)

Thanks so much! This board is great. Feel alot better, now. Just did'nt want to pay for all that food and it not get eaten. We are not on the the DDP, but it seems like they would let you order off the kids menu because it would really be to their benefit.

This is great to know that we can do this. I love ordering off the kids menu. It is the right amount of food and I like the price.

The general consensus seems to be if you are paying OOP and not on the DDP, older kids can usually order from the childrens menu. However there are a few reports of some servers who are not allowing the older kids to order a kids meal. The menus do state they are for ages 3-9 so it seems like there may be a few overzealous servers who are taking that very literally. But overall most reports seem to be that older kids can order kids meals. If you are on the DDP, the reports are more mixed. Some places will serve a larger portion of a kids meal and you still get charged the adult credit. Some won't allow a child over 9 to order from the kids menu since they are considered an adult on the DDP. You would think they wouldn't care since the kids meals are so cheap and you are paying with an adult credit.

At buffets kids over 9 will be charged the adult price, regardless of how much they eat.

just to note that "adults" may not order at a child's price at buffet and all you can eat meals. At other restaurants, it appears to be generally permitted, with possible exceptions depending on the restaurant and/or the server. There appears to be no resort-wide "rule" as to whether you absolutely have to be 3-9 to order from a childrens' menu. It's going to depend on the restaurant.

The only place we had a problem ordering from the kid's menu was at Mama Melrose, the waitress told us it is never done, when I told her that my daughter who was 11 had ordered from the kid's menu all week without a problem she backed off, and did not have a problem with it.
