Kids/No Kids Restaurants

Also...to say that Disney was created so people could feel like kids kind of supports the argument that is was made for families.

Isn't it kind of pathetic to imagine a bunch of full grown adults lolling around acting and feeling like kids with the characters and amusements, but begrudging the presence of actual children?

Go ahead and flame me, but that's how I feel.

I love Disney for a family vacation...but for an adult vacation, give me Rome or Ireland or Punta Cana or New York or a million other more suitable places.
I am not going to flame you because I totally agree with you 100% about what you just said.

Of course Disney clearly started out as a family concept. But with the advent of wedding facilities, nightclubs and so on it has clearly evolved well beyond that. Disney isn't static but is ever changing and to continually compare the current facilities to the little park that Walt originally created misses the point IMO.

Personally I love the idea of a few adults only restaurants particularly if the cut off age is 10. Small children don't HAVE to be everywhere, not even at WDW.

I totally agree with this. :thumbsup2

I currently go to WDW to give my kids a fantastic holiday and basically we as a family love it there. My children are 5 and nearly 4 at the moment and they have never behaved poorly anywhere in WDW. Now at home thats a different story. ;)

However, when our children are grown and have their own families, myself and my DH will still be visiting WDW as we love feeling like we can be kids again. Where else in the world can you feel totally normal hugging a big mouse! :rotfl:

But at no point either now or in the future would i expect to go to WDW and have a child free holiday. I love to people watch and see the looks on different kids faces when they see something that is totally magical for them. Its fantastic. :cloud9:

I also don't believe that all children that may get a little naughty at restaurants have bad parents. Thats ridiculous. My children have sometimes played up in restaurants and i use a distraction technique that a lot of parents use here in the UK. I am certainly not a bad parent and i have been told many times by lots of people that i am a great parent. In fact i know i am a great parent as my children are always happy and smiling and they love life.

We choose not to go to V and As because it is not our cup of tea. We also don't go to the "fancier" restaurants as i would hate for an inconciderate person to stare at us if our boys were to make a little noise or god forbid get out of their seat. I am not the sort of person that would be able to take that and i would feel the need to confront the person who felt it their right to judge me. I do not go to WDW for this kind of thing. We are a happy family when we arrive at WDW and we like it to stay that way.

I agree that it seems that a few "incidents" are being made into a great big catastrophe that paints a picture of animal like children swinging from the light fittings, having food fights, playing musical chairs and god knows what other type of ridiculous behaviour.

I think there are a lot of uptight people out there and maybe you don't want to dine around kids and thats fine. My family don't particularly want to dine around someone who is almost waiting for something to happen just so they can complain.

Some people just love to complain, i guess they just love to get a free meal. ;)
