Taking kids to Disney for the first time in years and cannot remember if they need to each have their own ticket in every line?
I will have baby and they will be in the regular queue. Can I show their ticket at beginning of line and keep it for them, Or do they need a second time?
Just need to know cause if they do need it I need to come up with a way for them not to lose it. 😆

Also rider swap ?
If I get a rider swap and they are in line and I go feed or change baby how much time do I have to use the rider swap? We could not get a fast pass for mine train so I suspect they will be in line forever lol.
Does the time start counting when I get the rider swap?

There are no individual tickets- once you pay to get into the park, you’re all set for all of the rides and shows.

Kids under 7 can’t ride mine train without sitting with an adult. (I think it’s 7, not sure). The rider swap isn’t for you to leave your kids and come back- it’s so an adult with the baby can then swap out with the other adult so they can watch the baby, or is that not what you meant?

Ok great! Just wasn’t sure if they had to scan their ticket again once in line.
My eldest daughter (19) will be in line with them. Hubby can’t do the bigger rides anymore. I was thinking of keeping the youngest two with him ( I’ll have baby) and then with rider swap I could ride with them?
Wondering how long I have until I can come back and use rider swap.
We have a special needs baby T21 with feeding issues etc so there’s some unpredictability there when it comes to timing for me.

you would scan your tickets to enter fastpass lines, that's it

Yes, if your daughter or husband takes the baby, you can ride with the other children once she gets back. Just make sure you ask for the rider swap when you tap into the ride, or if you’re doing stand-by, tell the cast member at the line that you want a rider swap and you will get one.

Except for Fastpasses. OP, you know about fastpasses right? Everyone over 3 will need to tap in to use their fastpass. But the CM won’t care who exactly holds & taps the card. Just if 3 people enter the fastpass line, 3 cards must be tapped & turn green. So don’t put your cards away. Also, there are 2 tap points on fastpass attraction, but in most cases you will only have to tap at the line entrance. But on rare occasion you might have to tap a 2nd time at the end of the line.

Are you staying onsite? Will you have magic bands? Those will substitute for your admission tickets & will be tapped at admission & for fastpass entrance. If no magic band you will just use your hard tickets.

No not on property. I wish. 🙁 we need the full kitchen and space for our big crew at lower prices.
But ok this is helpful. I will keep all their cards handy in something. We weren’t able to get much for FP as we planned trip recently. So there will be a lot of standing in line for the bigger rides. 😬
Not a big deal for older ones but will probably keep youngest ones with me and watch the ducks etc and take with me to baby feeding and changing area. Then I’ll ride with them with rider switch.
Just concerned if I only have an hour to use rider switch and then kids are in line an hour and they come out of line and I can’t get on right away because of baby’s needs will my littles then lose their chance to ride?

Rider switch is for the parent to switch, I believe, not to switch out kids. The kids who are riding will need to wait in line.

Others who use rider switch, please correct me if I”m wrong!

Oh ok. In the past we could have one of us ride with half the kids and then with rider switch the other one of us rode with the other younger half?

We won’t have FP this will be a regular line. My eldest daughter would be acting as the other adult ( parent) with the older kids. Just means none of my kids get to ride twice. That would be the only difference?

If you can afford it I would just get everyone a magic band; I can’t imagine dealing with cards for tickets anymore. That way it’s easier to keep track of them, and they are available when using FP, etc.

also have the 19 year old download the app and put them in charge of refreshing for FP, I’d even send them to this board for tips on how to do it, but they should be able to figure this out and keep the waiting down at least a bit.

I can get magic bands at Disney springs correct? Refreshing for FP? Is there a thread to explain that? Thanks so much!

I think you can get away with this if you have exactly the same numbers in both groups, but the rules are technically that everyone riding except the parent with the baby waits in line, then the parent goes back through with the kids. It is also only supposed to work for up to 3 people. I don't think anyone will raise a stink with what you are doing, but just wanted you to know in case there is an issue.

Unless things have changed in the last couple of years.... baby swap can be used anytime during that specific day. You can also bring your kids with you. I have never been told no to that... my oldest loved it bc she got to ride twice.

I also second the magic band if possible... much easier.

Things have changed, they no longer do paper rider swap, it's all on your MDE account digitally. And there is now a return window, so I think you have to wait a certain amount of time before you can use it and then you have to use it within a certain amount of time (1 hour I think).

There is an explanation of how rider swap works now here: https://www.disboards.com/threads/r...p-digital-system-begins-in-late-june.3686256/

There is rarely a need to wait in long standby lines. Just refresh to get more fp. We never wait in lines longer than 20mn and we do most things we want, without much backtracking. It doesn’t bother us if we skip something though since we’re local passholders. Schedule fp back to back, starting within 30mn of park open, rope drop a few rides, once lines hit 20mn use your fp’s and get more all day long til you’re done. :) If your group is quite large you may need to break into two groups and get overlapping times, so I’ve read. I’ve never been with a large group.

I think 7dmt with a large group under 30 days might be tough, but it’s worth a try!

It can be done same day in smaller groups. Split family members into groups of 2 or 3, get a fp for each group of 2-3 (regardless of time) and then try to switch times on any / all of them so they overlap at some point - and use them then. it does take perseverence and probably a lot of refreshing. Practice during your "waiting in line time". :snail:

This doesn't work if you are trying to ride headliners multiple times though. It is highly unlikely to get a SDMT, Soarin, RRRC, ect using this method after about noon. Things like BTMRR, Splash, and Jungle cruise will be limited, most of the time we have found that by noon anything worth fastpassing has a return time well into the evening. It is useful for some of the lower priority things, but for those looking to do headliners multiple times in a day, it just doesn't work well at any but the slowest times. We have had a lot of experience trying.
