Wizard of Oz is my favorite movie, I don't think I will let my kids watch it yet it has it scary moments
Pan's Labrynth was NOT marketed as a children's movie. It was a rated R flick and was promoted as such.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, but why would you make a blanket statement like that? I think it totally depends on the kid.
My son saw "Coraline" at age 5 and LOVED it. We bought it on DVD and he's watched it over and over and over. We also read the book to him which he loved so much we bought him the audio book. He loves stuff that's a little creepy and dark. For him, it was a huge hit.
I think you just have to know your child.
She has problems with a relative and that's all I'll say about that. It's a dark movie.Alright ..so what happens in Coraline? I haven't seen it yet!
Thank goodness!
I had not seen it out in the theaters. My DH saw it on line and purchased it because it had a "cool" cover photo.Men.
I couldn't understand how the OP thought it was in the same league as Coraline.
Alright ..so what happens in Coraline? I haven't seen it yet!
Just watched Coraline. How awesome. Do not watch it with a child under 12. This is marketed as a kids movie, but far from it.
The last movie in this genre that I enjoyed as much was Pan's Labyrinth.
Any other suggestions?![]()

As to other films listed in the thread...I agree...it all depends on the kid. As for my girls, 6 and 8 respectively, love those dark children's movies. Coraline, The Dark Crystal, Labrynth, even the new Christmas Carol...they loved them all!
Of course they also are both RABID Dr Who fans so that should tell you about my kids!![]()
My DD(9) is exactly the same - she loves Coraline, Corpse Bride, Nightmare before Christmas, Harry Potter, Spiderwick Cronicles and many others like this. She also is Dr Who's niumber one fan!
My brother will not take his sons who are 4-5 to see "Transformers" due to the violence of the movie.
Pan's Labyrinth was marketed as a kid's movie?? Holy Cow, what were they thinking??
