I just looked at the menu for the Brown Derby - it looks great to me andDH, but dd11 doesn't like the adult menu , she'd rather eat from the kids menu. I know it says it is for kids under 9, but is she allowed to eat from it? Will they make provisions? My kid won't eat duck or half a chicken.lol

I just returned from a trip with my DD who is 12. She was allowed to order off the kids menu whenever she didn't find something on the adult menu that she liked.

Children of any age would be allowed to order from the kids menu if they wanted. ::yes::

DS 11 swears that Brown Derby has the best hot dog on property :thumbsup2 He even got a chance to tell that to the Chef last month when we were there

Brown Derby is our favorite restaurant on property  We've gone 3 times in the last year and have had incredible meals and service each time :goodvibes

What a relief! Thanks! The Brown Derby sounds awesome.

A few years back my 2 Dsis' and myself all order off the kid's menu. It was no problem. Our server said we could even 2x or 3x it. We didn't but it was nice to know we could if we were still hungry.

Does anyone know if the same holds true for the character meals? DS will be 10 when we go at the end of the year and I just realized that means it'll be $32 for him rather than $15 when we go to the Crystal Palace and he doesn't even eat the majority of what's on the adult buffet menu. I've never been to a character meal so I don't know how the buffets are set up. Is there a separate children and adult line? Would he be able to have the kids buffet instead of the adult one? TIA for any information!

He'll be charged the adult price but can select any food of his choice. This *ahem* kid has been known to have a small sample of food from the children's area. :D

I know these boards always say you can order off the kids menu (for kids' prices too) for preteens that don't want the adult menu but I just got off the phone to make Primetime ressies and asked if the two 11 year olds could order off the kids menu and she told me flat out "no". I asked her if they could split an adult meal and she wasn't sure. After telling her that I've heard over and over that most restaurants allow older kids to order off the kids menu, she backed up a bit and said they were told to say "no" if asked but she had no real idea if it could be done or not.

My question is this: In two instances I want to use a TS for myself but pay OOP for the kids (Primetime and Jiko) but I will have both CS and TS credits not used and available -- should that make any difference? Also, the kids would be eating off the kids menu not the adult menu.

What do you think?

LOL!! Thanks for the info. That's going to be some pretty expensive mac 'n' cheese. ;)

We've had DDP 4 x now (5x in Sept.) We've shared meals and I have paid OOP for some of DD's meals. Most notably at Narcoossees, HBD, and CG. (see a common thread here?) Never had a problem, the servers didn't even blink when we told them.

HTH.

Disneydaze, was your daughter a "disney adult" but ordering OOP for kids meals? I think this is the clincher in the deal, I know that I can pay OOP but will it okay for 11 year olds to eat and pay the kids meal price?

If you have a "disney adult" and you are on the DDP, you can pay OOP for that "disney adult" to eat a kids meal. You can't use adult credits for kids meals though.

We did this last year when DS was 10 and a "disney adult" For TS meals that he didn't want the "adult" food, we paid OOP for him to order off the kids menu and got a seperate bill for him. We then used his adult credits, later in the week for an extra TS meal for the rest of us. At buffets, they will charge the adult price for anyone 10 & up, DDP or OOP, whether they eat a lot or barely touch their food.
