Kids menu question

are they stickers about 10 plus not ordering kids menu? My oldest is a very tiny 9, and will be 10 by our next trip. She eats like a bird and chooses generally healthy like grilled chicken or salad. If we order off kids menu for her, is that a no no?

You'll have no problem at all.

At a counter service, anyone can order a kids meal, they have no way of knowing who the meal is for.

At table service, they may give you a hard time if your 15 yo was ordering a kids meal. But they won't even know that your child is 10, unless you tell them.

Yup...I have ordered off the kids menu all the time at counter service locations. At some of the table service restaurants if you are not a child they double the kids menu price...but if you have a kid, they are not checking ID's so you will be fine. They just wanna keep adults from ordering kids menu at the Table Service places.

I think it comes down to the server at times. We were at Cafe Orleans back in September and my normally unfussy 15 year old decided there was nothing on the menu that took her fancy. The server suggested she look at the kids menu. She ended up ordering something from there and received the child size portion at the child price.

I was wondering this same question. However, would they be more picky at one of the special meals for reserved seating for shows? We're doing the RBT/Fantasmic meal. I have a 10yo, but there's no way she'd eat an adult-sized meal.

Ohhh all of you with light eaters. What would that even be like? My kid has been eating us out of house and home since he was about 8. He's 11 now, as tall as me, and a dancer. It's only going to get worse.... (and I don't even know what it was like from my childhood, as I ate pretty average. my brothers were hugely picky, but once they got what they wanted they'd eat a ton of it, LOL)

Character meals and Fantasmic dining or the new PTN dining will be ones you will have to pay the adult price for no matter how much she may or may not eat.

The only place we have ever run into a problem is at Storytellers in the GCH. There they are very strict about charging an extra few dollars (for the same amount of food) for anyone who appears over the age limit.

Yes, the buffet has age limits. We were there once when a family came in, mom, dad, teen daughter, and a 10yo son. When the hostess asked dad how many kids 9 and under, dad said 1. At that point the son said "DAD, I'M 10!" Teen daughter got very indignant, and said "Dad if we have to lie, I don't want to eat here, we should just go back upstairs." Dad looked at the hostess and said "I forgot, he's 10. All adults."

If you don't like a place's prices, vote with your wallet and don't go there. But don't lie.

Yes, my younger daughter is 25. Due to her Asperger's, we frequently have her eat off the kid's menu. But they do a great job of giving her a double portion for a double price (though they do not include the drink for adults.)

We order off the kids menu for my "over age" daughter as well who has Adpergers. Storytellers is the only place where they charged us extra, without providing a larger portion. I spoke to both the restaurant and guest services at GCH as it was a frustrating experience for us. No problems anywhere else.

I'm not talking buffet. Just regular table service places. Mostly b/c she eats like a bird and I don't want to waste food. . I hadn't planned to " lie" just wondered if we could actually order off the kids menu for her.... She eats several small meals a day...Actually all 3 of my girls eat this way.

I can understand not wanting to habitually waste food, but for a few special meals while on vacation I don't see where lying to save a little money is the answer. If she's going to eat something else again in a few hours then this might be a time when it's worth having her share with someone or asking in leftovers can be saved and then carrying them until the next small meal.

That sounded a bit harsh. CandMommy never said she was going to lie. In fact she said she wasn't going to. A just turned 10 year old will be allowed to order from the kids menu at most non buffet sit down places. And if they say no, then they can plan on paying more for a double portion or have her share with an adult.

I really don't care about the cost. I'm asking if it's ok for my kid who eats very little to order from the kids menu. That's it. I'm not a liar, or cheap, or wanting something for nothing. I'm wanting to know if my kid who isn't a big eater, can order from the kids menu as it states in my original post.
