We are on the deluxe dining plan (Ithink....one qs, 1ts and 1snack) per person. I really do not want my kids eating the same stuff every day....Iam just wondering if the kids have to choose from the kids menu ? As well are there any hidden gmes that people may want to share that would offer a good alternative to PB&J sandwich and chicken nuggets. for the kids. Thanks

Hopefully some others can clue you in to some variety to kids menus, just thought I would clear up if you have 1QS meal, 1TS meal and 1 snack you are on the regular DDP (disney dining plan).

The Deluxe plan (the DxDDP) is 3 meal credits that can be used as TS or CS and 1 snack.

I just don't want you to get confused. It is very easy to. ;)
Hope you enjoy your trip.

If you have 1 qs, 1 TS and a snack, you are not on the deluxe plan but the standard plan.

Kids on the DDP have to eat from the kids' menus. At TS places, I've always been reasonably impressed with the choices they have - although my kids usually pick chicken nuggets or burgers. But there is usually a fish choice, or pasta, etc.

Counter service choices for kids do seem to be more homogenized though - I see a lot of complaints about that. Again, since my kids are happy with chicken nuggets & Uncrustables most of the time, it's not really an issue for us (we obviously fit the Disney kid demographic data).

Children must order from the children's menu, where one exists. There's actually some decent variety there.

Buffets and family-style meals, of course, get around this as everyone has access to the same food.

Some restaurants may bring you a child-sized portion of an adult entree if you ask. I had success with this at Rose & Crown (got fish & chips for the kids, not on the kids' menu).

Some CS locations have unique options for kids too.

Sunshine Seasons in Epcot offers sweet & sour chicken, mini subs, & chicken legs with mashed potatoes.

Yorkshire County Fish Shop (Epcot) & Casey's (MK) don't have a kids menu so kids can order off adult menu.

Flametree BBQ (AK) has baked chicken leg.

I'm sure there are others but these are the ones I know from experience. Check out the menus here or on allears. Have a great trip!!

If you're interested in what the kids menus look like at the parks for QS locations, there is a sticky at the top of the fourm that has the kids menus typed out.

They may not be as bad as you're anticipating.

We booked quite a few buffets so the kids could choose from the adult selections as well. Other standouts were:

Teppan Edo- a cut down version of the adult menu. Our children had the shrimp with mushrooms, noodles and rice.

Le Cellier - Steak is included on the children's dining plan

Shutters - many of the set menus have a fish offering and we tried it at Shutters. Both children got a large portion of salmon (about twice the sieze I'd serve them at home!) on rice. It was MUCH better than it appeared on the photo on the menu!

This is one of my big complaints about Disney, the kids menu stink. Last trip we did a few buffets, so the kids could eat any thing. DD is very happy with mac-n-cheese for a week, DS is not. I made reservations last night for free dining, and shared this with the agent. When we travel DS will be 8, the agent changed his age to 10, and it cost me $25 more for the park ticket. Since we have free dining the $25 is well spent...DS is very happy about a week of adult food.
