I have a very picky 12 yr old who still insists on chicken fingers, pizza, burger, kinda kid food. Do you know if I can still order food from a kiddie menu at WDW restaurants. Will they get upset? We are NOT on the Food Plan. Just wondering if anyone has tried this. They should really keep the age limit to what they had before. I believe it is now ages 3-9 (correct me if I am wrong here, pls._. I think it would make things easier to please them and us, too!!!:)

Our DS11 orders from the kids menu and they haven't ever had a problem with it. If they don't give you a kids menu when you are seated then just ask for one.:)

My DS was 10 (almost 11) on our last trip and ordered from the kids menu at every meal. The only place that really didn't seem to care was Sci-Fi. Most other restaurants (Cali Grill, Le Cellier, WCC, and a few others) told us he could order but we'd be charged for items separately - for example, drink and dessert did not come with his meal. We didn't care - the kid just wanted a grilled cheese or chicken fingers!

My DSis, DM and I ordered off the kids menu a couple different times and they didn't bat an eye. It wasn't just CS either. Here are the places we did it.

ASMusic food court- kids bkfst.
Pecos Bill @ MK- chicken nuggets
Noodle Station @ MK- chicken nuggets
50's Prime Time @ MGM- kids "Fish Of The Day"
Seems like there was somewhere else, but I can't remember it. BTW, my DM is in her sixties, and my DSis and I are well over the age of 9. I won't tell you exactly how much over, but you need to add either a 3 or 4 to that 9!

So glad to hear that others experience this with their family members, too!Especially happy to hear maybe grownups ordering from the kids menu once in a while, without trouble. Hey, sometimes we feel like having items from the kids menu items, too, and you know what, sometimes taste BETTER than what you would order from a regular menu (and of course, is much less in price ;) !) I just feel guilty knowing that they have age restrictions say (kids menu from age 3-9) and I order from a 12 yr old off of that.:guilty: That's the kindness in me, I guess :confused3 But, this trip, I will do so, if that is what makes my tween happy, and as said, I am paying after all!:thumbsup2

Ooo, do you reckon they'd let my DBF do that? (at table service)

He's sorta got a phobia of trying new stuff, and even though he's 20 he's only just tried plain pasta and tom sauce, hopefully he'll be a bit better next year (he's currently doing quite well) when we go but there's no way he'd eat most the stuff in the table restaurants...

Maybe if I mention it when doing my ADRs?... We would obvously be willing to pay the same as an adult meal, I'm not concerened about that, I just want him to be able to eat.

To make you feel even better or the PP who asked, I am a 30 year old who does it all the time. I just politely ask for the menu (or if I know what I want, I order w/o looking) and order off of it. I have never been declined and never even had someone bat an eye at me. They all smiled and said "No problem!"

I admit I even do it at local restaurants. I am a super picky eater and I admit I have done it at Applebee's, Brio and somewhere else recently. I am pregnant so I am pickier than usual, but everyone has always been so sweet to me about everything that I am no longer afraid to order.

Obviously I do it at CS places as well and of course zero problem there.

I've also been known to ask for the kids dessert at pre-plated restaurants like CRT. All the CMs seem to do it with a smile and w/o hesitation. I imagine there are more adults and teens doing this than some realize ;)

No need to mention it during booking of the ADRs. Just ask for the kids menu when you sit down (if you don't know the menu... I admit I have it on my PDA phone with me so I don't need to usually ask for one)

Since my DSis and I are well past 20 and they never questioned us, I don't see where he'd have a problem.

I wouldn't bother. We just asked for a kids menu when they were passing out the menu's at 50's Prime Time (table service) and he said "Sure" and never gave it a thought. We ordered regular drinks (otherwise it was applejuice or milk :crazy2: ) and didn't get dessert (I don't remember if it came with it or not, but we didn't order any and he didn't offer it either). It was good. We both got the "Fish of the day" which was some kind of grilled fish, whole wheat rice and a green bean/carrot mix. The veggies were very tasty!

Besides, it comes in a cute Mickey head shaped serving dish....how much cooler can you get?

What happens if you are on the free dining plan? Kids 10 and up are suppose to get an adult meal. Can they order off the kids menu and use a dinner credit?

I was 25 on our last trip and I definitely ordered the kids mac n cheese at the Electric Umbrella in Epcot. I just wanted something other than a hamburger :rotfl2:
