Anyone know if there is anything else you can get for kids at tempo edo besides what is on all ears (talk about limited). My kids will not eat noodles with vegetables (maybe 1 will eat plain noodles) and I might be able to get one to eat the plain chicken. Do they serve bread because otherwise my third child won't be eating anything! She likes breaded stuff, or burgers or pizza. She is extremely picky. They are very meat and potatoes. Grilled chicken, shrimp or noodles with vegs are the only choices! Really not that many little kids will eat shrimp. Oh my...

I even checked the Dis menus and didn't find any typical kids meal items. But that's one of the things that's drawn me to the place. If you are set on eating there, feed the kids ahead of time. Not too many Japanese places serve burgers and pizza.

My kids really liked shrimp before other meats (they were nearly vegetarian for a few years) and shrimp seem to be pretty common on kids meal though usually fried. Teppan Edo is probably not the place for picky kids since they aren't a Disney owned restaurant so not the same kids meals. Some like it because of that and some don't. They have white rice for picky kids but otherwise not much. The udon noodles are not really like regular pasta they have a different texture and appearance that a picky kid may or may not accept. No bread though at all. Maybe your kids could go to a kids club that night if you really enjoy Japanese food?

What you see on the menus ... the grilled/rice/noodle option and the tempura/rice/veggie/fruit (this is listed on the Toyko Dining menu) ... is what you get.

It is very limited so if you know you're kids aren't going to eat any of those options, unfortunately it isn't going to be a meal you're going to enjoy. I would think it would just end up being stressful.

Have you thought about eating in Morroco at Restaurant Marrakesh? In addition to a more exciting adult menu, they offer traditional kids food ... burgers, chicken tenders, pasta. And it is a lot of fun listening to the music and watching the belly dancer.

It is very limited. My kids ended up eating pretty much plain noodles because they didn't like too much on the menu, but they had a lot of fun watching them cook and didn't really care about the food.

I am actualy glad that they serve something else besides the typical burger, fries and mac and cheese. Maybe your kids will like the experience and try something new because they see how it is cooked? We allways have the problem the other way around, our ds eats wha we eat, I do not cook extra for him. I never understood why people would go to foreign restaurants when they are looking for 'american fare' it is like going to a fish restaurant and expecting meat burgers, I mean why even going. Honestly if your children don't eat anything from the menue I would feet them before or after.

This was probably the worst kids meal that our dd had during our trip. The fruit was not even fresh fruit but a fruit cup (like Del Monte) that she takes in her lunch. No substitutions for anything. My dd is not extremely picky but her meal took forever (it came out after we were eating ours and was cold and she wouldn't eat it). She ended up eating my shrimp and rice. Probably not the best choice if you have picky eaters.

:thumbsup2 My thoughts exactly.

Since you said your kids eat beef, there is steak on the adults' menu so maybe you could order that and share with them.

I have never been to a Japanese restaurant that serves bread because white rice and noodles are the staples of their diet.

I was just there 2 nights ago with my 5YO.
They only had two choices on the kids menu. I asked if they had beef as an option (yes for $24.99!). She ended up with the chicken. I asked that her meal be cooked plain and asked for some ketchup. She was fine with that.
He asked about the veggies I told him ok to cook - but she didn't eat any. (zuchinni, onion and mushroom).

It was served with:
Chicken that was mixed with mushrooms (had to remove the mushrooms)
Plain white rice which she ate.
A very small amount of noodles - she likes pasta, but would not eat these. Tried but didn't like.
Zuchinni and mushroom.

No bread served.
soup, salad were not included like many japanese resturants we have been to.

I should also add.....our 5YO loved the experience.
In the middle of dinner she looked over and said this is the best night ever! She loves watching them cook.

I love Teppan Edo but my 5 yr old daughter hated it. She didnt eat anything. If you have a chicken fingers, mac & cheese kids who wont try stuff, then dont go

I think you will be better off choosing another restaurant for your family.
The kids menu is as you have seen.
We love it and are glad it is as it is. So many restaurants do not offer the kids meals we love. This is a gem

I think if you really want to go, your best bet is to ask if your child can order the kids' tempura meal (from the Tokyo Dining menu) rather than one of the hibachi kids meals off the Teppan Edo menu. I'm pretty sure I've read at least one review where someone was allowed to do that for a pickier child. The TD kids meal still isn't typical kid food, but most kids see tempura and think "chicken strip/nugget" so it would likely be more acceptable to a picky child. But there's no guarantee.

I think if I had a child that picky I'd just look elsewhere, because I'd rather settle for my second choice than have to deal with a cranky, hungry kid or two who won't eat anything on the menu. Or a bored kid who ate before the meal and doesn't want to sit nicely through your meal. The different kids menu is one of the things we like about Teppan Edo, because my kids would be very unhappy if given a choice between nuggets, a burger, or a hot dog (as so many other restaurants do) while the adults get the good stuff from the hibachi grill, but it isn't good for very picky children at all.

I was there last week and there was a family with kids that didn't eat anything. They just got them some ice cream and the kids just sad there the whole time... It was kind of strange.

If your kids wont' eat there I would either look into having a sitter for them and feeding them eslwhere or just going somewhere else.
