Making our first WDW trip in September with DD5 and DD2. Like all kids that age, they are picky, especially DD2. They both like chicken nuggets and mac and cheese among other things and I've read the menus and see that there are lots of good choices for them. But the question is, what are the chicken nuggets and mac and cheese like? Is it the box kind or the homemade kind or the shells and cheese kind? And are the nuggets more like McDonalds or the heavily breaded breast pieces or like the grocery store frozen kind? I'm wondering if we're going to get the kids to eat anything other than ice cream for the week we're there!

Have you considered doing buffets? Our girls will be 2 and 3 when we go and of course with a buffet you have the added benefit of the 2 yr old still being free to eat there. Also, no wait for food - they can eat as soon as you sit down. And, with a buffet there would hopefully be plenty of options for those picky eaters. We will be planning on doing several buffets during our trip for these reasons.
In terms of CS meals, I can't really comment since it's been YEARS since I've been to Disney and didn't have kids then but from what I have read on here, most kids seem to be happy with the nuggets, mac n cheese, etc. I think i asked once about the mac and cheese and it's not Kraft. (Makes me mad when I pay alot of money for a kids meal only for it to turn out to be Kraft which is 79c a box!) I think someone once told me it more like Stouffers or a homemade type of mac and cheese.

DD ate hotdog after hotdog after hotdog. One night she did order chicken nuggets but DH defaulted and ordered her a hotdog. She didn't even notice.

Buffets were great. Had lots for the kids. Those were the only meals she didn't eat... you guessed it... a hotdog.

It was vacation. I picked my battles and refused to argue about food.

Have fun.

We are definitely planning to do buffets because she can eat free and pick whatever she wants without a problem. In fact, we planned all our character meals around them being buffets....Tusker House breakfast, Crystal Palace lunch, Mickeys BBQ once. I know she'll be able to find SOMETHING, but I don't want to hit up a CS for chicken nuggets only to find that they are the "bumpy" kind and we've wasted money on nothing.

We are on the dining plan with DS10 and DS4 . They will probably switch since DS10 only wants chicken strips and DS 4 is more of an adverturous eater. Unfortunately DS10 is already full price.

Usually, the kids nuggets are more McNugget like and the adult chicken tenders are the strips with lots of breading, but more actual chicken inside. The macaroni and cheese is like Kraft mac 'n cheese. The peanut butter and jelly is always Uncrustables - be prepared for that if your kids is a PB&J addict. My kid was seriously disappointed the first time he ordered a PB&J sandwich there and got one of those. Even the $10 room service peanut butter and jelly kids meals is an Uncrustable... although, served on large plate, cut in half, arranged stylishly, and garnished with a mint leaf.

My DD5 had pizza every day except 2 -- and on those 2 days, she had spaghetti.

She loves Mac & Cheese...ONLY if it is Kraft...she will NOT eat the M&C at Disney.

My DD is the same way-she loves Mac and cheese-But won't touch the stuff at WDW.

I agree on the Mac N cheese - last time we were there it is NOT Kraft-like, it is more Stouffer's-like with the thicker noodles. My kids will eat a bit of it - if there is nothing else - but they don't really like it.

I have a picky dd - I find that she does fine at WDW...she will eat more of what is there because 'well, there is only x, y or z on the menu' - so she knows she's limited.

My kids love the Mac-N-Cheese at WDW. It is definitely more like Stouffer's than Kraft - bigger elbows (but they are nice and soft) and creamy cheese.

If I recall correctly, every place we got the nuggets they were more like real pieces of chicken in crispy breading - not like the preformed and perfectly coated circles. Again, my kids liked these.

Also they liked the pizza.

I think the kids CS meals are a decent price for what you get - meal plus side (like nuggies and fries) plus fruit or veggie (bagged red grapes/carrots/applesauce/jello) and drink.

I have three kids and often just grazed from their dishes at meal times. (I, too, like the Mac-n-cheese and pizza:thumbsup2)

My 4 year old son is loving the meal plan and eating like a king. My 5 year old daughter is on a hunger strike and is literally eating nothing. I even begged her to eat an ice cream sundae today to no avail.

I guess it all depends on your kids. If they are really picky eaters (like DD) you won't be happy. She only eats certain mac and cheese, certain pizza, etc....

Just a warning- my DD never met a chicken nugget or strip she didn't like until she had the ones at CS at WDW. I tasted them at 2 locations at the resort and at MK and I have to admit, they were nasty. I couldn't fault her for not eating more than 1 bite. Another mother at the resort told me her kids were the same way. Until I met her, I did not realize that the adult chicken strips/nuggets are completely different than the nuggets they feed the kids. She had to buy the adult meal to get her kids to eat CS, and I did too. Now the buffets and TS were another story. I've never seen DD eat as much as she did at Biergarten. Crystal Palace was a big hit too. So were CRT, Akershus, San Angel, and Chef's De France.

My ds didn't like the mac n cheese at WDW either! DH tasted it and agreed. The one thing ds always liked getting with his kids meals were the grapes and cookie!!

Most places had the standard chicken nuggets and french fries which is what DD3 lives on. DS5 was a bit more adventurous. I about fainted when he ordered the mixed greens with chicken breast at Columbia Harbor House, then I laughed when he realized that was code word for "salad." To his credit he ate it anyway. At Mama Melrose's they had elbow macaroni with spaghetti sauce, I think. You can get grapes and carrot sticks or fries and cookie at most places. The kiddos loved the buffets--both the kid section and the regular. DS had squash soup at Boma and lots of fresh strawberries. They both said the best part of Chef Mickey's was the ice cream with sprinkles on top. I just asked the kids what their favorite foods were at Disney World. DD said "grapes" and DS said "the potato soup that tasted like honey". I think he meant the squash soup.

My DD6 must be the wierdo here! She got the mahi mahi, it was quite good. I finished hers off a couple times. It's a nice size quality piece of fish and must have been grilled. Much healthier than chicken nuggets.
