They asked how old my daughter was last week and she is 11, looks 11 and is the right height for an 11 year old.

You may be better off explaining that you have a medical need for smaller portions and asking to eat from the children's menu. Then you wouldn't be on edge all the time, worrying about being caught out passing yourself off as a child.

it might be worth having a Drs note to show them as you might have trouble in table service restaurants -

inventions and plaza gardens are both buffet restaurants, so you'll have no trouble there at all. I can't say on cafe mickey though I'm afraid.

DLRP are very good at making exceptions for medical reasons though - we've managed to get DB excused from the bill in buffets before (he doesn't eat anything anyway) and we've managed to get him excused from the halfboard for the same reason this time. So hopefully, a doctor's note or similar should be ample to let you do what you want to do.

As others suggest better to explain the situation to DLP. Otherwise correctly you should pay the adult price. I'm sure there are plently who do not eat a lot :)

Actually I imagine there would be more questions at a buffet. Adults cost 55 Euros in Inventions and children only 26 Euros (IIRC) so of course they are more on the lookout for people saying they are children and then eating with the appetite of an adult.

It was at a buffet (Steakhouse Sunday Brunch) where they checked my daughter's age before charging me the 10 Euro child rate instead of the 35 Euro adult rate.

My fault - I guess I wasn't clear enough in what I mean :) .

I was more referring to being able to select either a small or large portion of food at the buffet restaurants depending on how much you wish to eat.

I agree that they would be quite sharp on checking ages from a cost point of view as you could easily say you're a child and then eat an adult size portion - costing DLP lots of money in the process.

I think perhaps try to explain about medical reasons stopping you from eating.

But I suffer from bad IBS and ate hardly anything on our last trip, less than kids portions, but I just had to lump it. I'm 23 too and even though upon entering a restaurant I knew I would be wasting money, I just had to only order one course, or in the case of the buffets, enjoy the character interaction and not worry about wasting food.

Thanks for your replies, i usually get kids menu meals in the uk, some places are really age restricted and say no matter what, some are great (weatherspoons for one!)

i will talk to my community team about it, im sure they could get a letter together for me, im soon to be put on build up milkshakes so im hoping that may help.

rather have some kind of back up just in case, so thanks for the suggestions really is helpful. having got worse health wise since our last trip having to think more about things
