We are 2 adults, i am a very small eater , my husband a very big eater, we are on the dining plan.

I was thinking to order for my husband on the DDP, and buy a kid's meal for myself, because that is more than enough for me, would they allow that?
And how do you need to order that? because of the DDP for one and Kid's meal for me?

I think they would allow you to pay for a child's meal with the DDP...they wouldn't be losing anything by doing that. If you DH is a big eater, then just order the 2 adult meals, and let him eat one and a half...lol. You may be surprised by the childrens meals. Make sure you look at them ahead of time. For instance, you can't get a burger at a burger place, or a pizza at a pizza place at most places. Strange but true. Might want to check the menus first to see if you find something that will satisfy you.

Wanted to add as well, since I wasn't sure of your plan....you will have to order the DDP for everyone in your party. They won't let one be on the plan and one not be on the plan. Unless you get seperate rooms...lol.

we have the dining plan for both of us, i did read the menus and there are a few restaurant where the have kid meals for me.
I want to pay OOP for the kid meals and DDP for my husband.

I will use most of them myself, and the rest my husband will use them. I only planned 4 kid meals for myself
.

Please check out the kids menu before you do this, you may be very disappointed as the menus have changed to a standardized selection. While there in Feb. I checked out a few from others nearby and believe me, it was barely enough for my 2 year old granddaughter. There are a few exceptions, like there's a steak meal at concourse and hopefully still a LeCellier.

I'm not a big eater at all, but still manage to get through adult meals. I just don't order big dishes. Usually filet mignon. I take my desert back to the room most of the time and hubby usually helps with the appetizer(s). Meals continue to shrink at WDW, so I would try to gauge the meals and size first. I did find that most of the kids meals consist of mac and cheese and jello. It was sad, but most kids I saw seem to be happy with it.

Okay, I see what you're asking now...duh...lol. You want to use the plan for your dh, and even though you will both be on the DDP, you want to pay OOP for yourself to have a kids meal at 4 places.

Good question...I don't know the answer, though. Sorry. But at least now I understand...lol.

I think you'd be much happier ordering just an appetizer than a kids meals. For the most part the kids food was very bland and really not very good at all. FWIW, we didn't find the meals to be that large. You could probably make it just fine eating an entree and dessert and perhaps your DH could eat 2 appetizers. Often the appetizers are very small if they are things like shrimp or scallops.

The question is can you order off the child's menu and pay cash for that, but still use a DP credit for DH. Correct?

That is two questions really. One easy, one hard.

Easy- You can use the DDP credit for one person and pay cash for the other any time you want.

Hard- Can an adult order from the children's menu at a TS place. Maybe yes, maybe no.

-They might make you order an "adult portion" of a child menu item. If the price on the child's menu is $7 you will be charged $14.
-They might serve you a child's menu item with no problem.
-They might say you may not order from the child's menu (but I doubt that, one of the other two possibilities is my guess).

Make sure it is clear you want less food, many people order off the children's menu because they prefer "plain" food.

In my limited experience with this I have been offered a choice between child sized portion or adult sized portion and charged according to my choice.

I will eat normal at TS places.

I want the kids meal at CS places because i am stuffed from the TS places.
