Kids in the Cove Cafe

I'm the OP and I apprecitate all the thoughts on this. If the parents walked in with the kids, got their coffee and left, I wouldn't have said anything and it probably wouldn't have bothered me, but the biggest problem I had was the CM's response that it was ok because the kids were little and that she couldn't do anything about it. That to me was the biggest issue. She could do something about it, and since both parents were there, one parent could have easily stayed outside the cove.

For those of you who will be sailing on the Dream, your request has been granted - and you will not have to visit the Cove Cafe with your children.

We were on the Dover to Barcelona cruise and found that on several occasions children were in the adult only part of the ship. The one time it was parents and three kids playing football - they were told it was an adult only area and to leave but they didnt.
i think there should be away of ensuring it stays adult only!!!

I totally agree! I have never heard such whining from adults who are acting far more like the CHILDREN they are so desperately trying to avoid on a DISNEY CRUISE..............bizarre.

I know you were probably posting at the same time, but please read the post before yours and tell me how you think this is OK? :confused3

Disney MARKETS adult only areas...they should provide them.

Yeah the cocktail comment was lighthearted...his was just plain rude. I had to edit/re-think my response several times just to keep from stooping too low.

I have to say on our cruise in 2007 there was a family who insisted their child came in the Quiet Cove pool. He was probably 16 and to be fair wasn't making any trouble, but the pool was crowded with adults and there are rules. The officers kept asking to see his ID and having to escort him out. By the third time the one day I was starting to get annoyed myself so God knows what the staff were thinking! I think its unfair on the staff for families to put them in this situation with any of the adult only areas.

Also I have to say that I too could say I am being penalised by not being able to go in the Oceanears Club or in the Mickey Pool as I don't have kids. That arguement is just silly. There are adult areas for a reason and people should respect them, if only so you teach your children that rules exist. My parents would never have allowed me in an adult area just so they could get something they want as they knew this was a bad example to teach me. And I'm not having a go at anyone here I'm just saying how I see this whole situation.

Just thought of this: Has anyone asked one of the bar servers that walk around deck 9 to get a speciality coffee from Cove Cafe? This would solve the problems that some of you have mentioned.

Was actually about to post saying I have asked bar staff to get me one in the past when I've been sat around the Goofy Pool as they asked about getting me a drink and I said "actually I may go get a latte" and they said "oh I can do that its fine" and headed off into Cove Cafe for me with my KTTW card in hand. So this is a valid option, and also I think most of the coffees are available through room service aren't they?

Sounds like some of you need cocktails more than coffee!

It's often funny how perception changes interpretation.

Michellert's comment could be interpreted to apply to either side of this debate as there is a little "whining" on both sides. :goodvibes I agree with a PP in that the comment was quite lighthearted.

Regardless, we should keep the debate civil and productive instead of reverting to name calling and sarcasm IMHO unless your goal is to get the thread shut down.

Sounds like the perfect solution to parents who want a specialty coffee, but have kids with them that they can't or don't want to leave alone while they go to Cove Cafe. There really isn't any reason why kids should be in the adult areas. Adults can't hang out in the kids' clubs. I, for one, would love to get to do some of the cool stuff they get to do. Everyone has their own special places on the ship and that should be respected. JMHO.

Excellent point!

I know I would LOVE to be a part of The Stack, playing some of the games they have access to.

I can only assume that some posters here are objecting to the existence of areas of the ship reserved for the use of persons age 18 and up on a DISNEY cruise (and I'm not talking about the ones who want an option just to get a latte). They should contact Disney Cruise Line and voice their objection.

It's Disney itself that says they are reserving those areas, not the people who use them. The people who use them just want them to be as advertised.
