My DD4 has started a habit of waking up around 3am and coming into bed with us. It happens maybe 1-3 times a week. She sleeps between us, but on my side. Really, ONTOP of me! My sholder is KILLING me today, and I know its because of the way I have to sleep when shes curled up next to me (on me...).
DH is getting anoyed because while shes curling up next to me, shes kicking him in the butt! We have decided no more, and even though I know hes right, shes so darn cute when she asks to come into our bed, I find it hard to say no!

Anyone else having this issue?

My DH hated it, but now does not mind it. It will end soon enough and you know she won't be sleeping in there by middle school...:goodvibes. Enjoy or hate it while it lasts. I literally sleep on the very edge of the bed when it is just me and my DS. He will start out on the other side, and by morning he is on top of me. Sometimes I have to scoot him over a bit or move him, sometimes I move me to the other side where he just scunches up to me there too. Just body warmth. We are in a king sized bed, not too comfortable on a queen, for sure. If we all wind up in bed, I end up in the middle UGGH!- this doesn't happen too often anymore - thank goodness. He is ten.

There are definitely worse things than this, I feel.

I was one of those not a mom yets that said I will NEVER let my child sleep with me. You put them down and thats that. I sure learned never to say never.

My DD did not sleep through the night until 5. She and i would sleep in the guest bed most nights from about 6 mths. Around 2 it was just partial nights i'd sleep with her but every night. I was so tired all the time!

When DS was about 3 he'd come in our room with his pillow and blanet and i'd tuck him in beside me. DH had a fit as this was right around the time DD FINALLY started sleeping. So when DS would sneak in he started sleeping under the bed on my side! Most nights I didn't even hear him coming in.

You know what? I so miss those cuddle nights! Both kids sleep in their own beds now but sometimes i secretly wish they'd come in and need to cuddle with mommy.

I do know what you are going through but this too shall pass. it is a stage. Some stages are long like DD but not all!

DS4 does this occassionally...and thank GOODNESS it's only occassional! He will start out curled up in between us on my pillow, but travel over to DH's side and slowly start to turn sideways, with his feet always finding my kidneys:sick: Then, he manages to maneuver himself so that he completely takes over the bed and oth DH and I are grasping at the edges so we don't fall out. We reposition him and literally start all over...he never wakes up during any of it :lmao:

See, I never ever let my kids into bed with us. And truthfully, if it were my older DD asking (shes 5.5) it would never fly. This just started with my youngest, and I guess it has to do with the fact that shes the baby, and our last.
And really, I can see why my husband gets so annoyed with it - she doesn't just kick him in the back, shes looking for a nice warm place to put her toes... can you guess where that is??? LOL LOL LOL

I'm a nightmare for any one sleeping next to me. I can start out on my side, and wind up in the middle or other side by morning.

I used to ALWAYS have my grandmother come tell me a bedtime story laying in bed with me. And she would have to stay until I fell asleep. If I woke up after she left, I got the middle of their king bed. Which the middle had a small feather pillow, so that was mine. I always wound up back in my bed by morning. So who knows who's ribs I kicked out in the middle of the night. I was about 6 or so when it started dwindling down.

We have a family bed so it's never been an issue.

If she's sleeping on your belly/chest, take your pillow out from under your head. Hurts less.

I could of wrote this post!

My dd (youngest of 3) is 4 as well. She goes thru phases of sleeping thru the night & waking up. Currently she is waking at 3am & screaming because she has to pee & won't because she'd rather kick us in our bed for an hour. DH takes her because she only wants him & then she finally goes back to her bed.

She either sleeps on top of me or on top of him. Sore shoulders & hips are happening in my house now.

Tonight she is sleeping with my oldest dd (9) since my dh & ds (7) are camping out for Cub Scouts. My dds share a room so hopefully this makes her sleep thru tonight.

I end up practically on top of my husband by morning! I am sure I would smother a baby or child, I am afraid! LOL!

It only happened with us a few times when my kids were little. It was horrible when we had a queen sized bed so we would make them go back to their own rooms.

I was a never a fan of kids in the adult bed anyway, so we always tried our hardest to stick to our guns when taking them back to their own rooms.

By the time we got a king, they had outgrown even wanting to sleep in our beds. Good luck. It can make for a long day when you don't get a good night's rest because of a little one in the bed.

My son used to do this every single night starting when he was about 3-but he laid very still and we honestly didn't know he was there until we woke up in the morning so we never cared. LOL

As long as I am comfy and no one is starting out the night in my bed and everyone was getting enough sleep, I didn't care where anyone slept.

When he hit about 7ish he got too big and it was uncomfortable and we'd wake up. We'd boot him out and he was fine with it.
We have a chair and a half with an ottoman in our bedroom and if the kids have a bad dream, I make them up a bed on there so they get to be with us, but we get our space.

I've heard of parents making special beds that stow away under the bed. The kid can just pull it out in the night without climbing on top of mom and dad. Just mom and dad need to be a bit careful in the morning stepping out.

your daughter will only have this issue if you let her. I'd be annoyed too...and then I would bring her back to her bed myself. Every time...

We've had this issue before. It happens in spurts - a few days, maybe a week. And then it stops. They sure are super cute. :lovestruc It's a minor inconvenience to provide them with some reassurance.

We have a revolving bed policy in our house. I can end up with either DS9 or DD8 in bed. DH, who is self employed and works really long hours often sleeps on the pull out in his office downstairs and sometimes one of the kids will head there and sometimes I will if both kids make a trip to our king bed in the middle of the night. Both have to be next to mom so it becomes mommy in the middle - I hate that - I get too hot.

Musical bed family; that's us. We just figure they won't want to do this much longer and we like the hugs, kind of like we figured they'd manage to potty train before school started and would give up soothers before school too - and they did.

My DB and SIL do the family bed thing, but this seems to work best for us. Sometimes we have a kid or two around, other times we get the bed to ourselves, and sometimes I get the big bed really to myself - that's when I sleep sideways across it.

DS4 is in my bed with DH now... which is why I'm on the DIS at 5 am!!

this is us.

The boys start in their own bed each night, but most mornings I wake up with at least one of them...usually both of them...in my bed. If I get uncomfortable, I just hit the couch or one of their beds. I did the same thing to my parents - slept in their bed with them until around 6 or 7? And then slept on their floor (as did my brother) until I was 11 or so? I stopped...and my kids will, too.

As long as everyone is sleeping...I don't care where they do it. You are knocked out anyway....does it really matter where everyone is???

There are times I've woken with all 4 kids in bed with me arms, legs, everwhere!

Generally, since my girls are now 17 (18 tomorrow) and 11, we have finally gotten our bed back to ourselves. However, two weeks ago DD17 was home from college and somehow she and her sister both ended up in my be while DH went to sleep on the couch. ;)

I don't mind. They'll be gone soon enough.
