daugher is almost 14 &son 12 1/2. got tkts for HHN for 10/31 with express pass. staying at HRH. Are my kids going to freak out?
son loves rides, afraid of dark, and has tendency to freak out at times.....daughter okay. can handle pretty much anything.

is this just too, too scary for these age kids....and,,,,,,,,,,,

how rowdy is the crowd, especially on Halloween night......

mind you I am no stranger to alcohol, but just want to be prepared ahead of time.....

lots of well shall I say happy as well as obstinate alcohol induced people????

You will all have a great time. It is scary, but that's the point. The atmosphere is great and yes, there is alcohol, but I have never seen anyone acting out of place. I am sure Universal would not allow that. Some people are rowdy, but not to the point that it's obnoxious. I think people just get caught up in the scare of the moment!!!

As long as they like that stuff and understand its pretend, they should be fine. When the parks open for HHN the cues are long and you see most of the scares coming and its really not that scarey at all. If you are doing IOA that day stay in the park at closing (5:00) and eat in the Jurassic park/ Lost continent area and you will have access to two of the houses before the park is opened for the general public with no lines and the houses are far better then. As far as the alcohol, I think staying in the park to get two houses out of the way will help you avoid being there later in the night when the people are really tanked. It seemed everyone there was drinking a week ago and we left about 11-11:30, I can only wonder what it was like at 2a. Also, an express pass will help you do what you want and not wait in line forever. Have fun.
PS The Bill and Ted show is slightly risque, with minor language and scantily clad women, about a pg or pg 13 rating, but depending on how much your kids see now or you want them to it may be okay for them.

We were at HHN on 10/3--our very first one. It was my oldest ds 16, ds # 2 13 yrs and me. My dh stayed in our HRH room with our little ones 3 and 1. My 2 older boys had a blast, it can be a little scary since some of the people jump out at you in dark spots but its not so scary you will be scared the whole time. It was lots of fun and the Haunted Houses were great.
We did buy the HHN Express pass but there were really no lines, almost everything was a walk on--the longest wait I saw for one of the houses was 20 minutes. Im glad we had them and used them on the haunted houses but didnt need any for the rides.
Oh and needless to say my 2 teenage sons loved Bill and Ted--actually they loved the girls in Bill and Ted, lol.

And as far as the slightly risque show, heck PG rated movies today would be rated R in my days.........
they will be just fine.

plan on staying in park, eating at mythos for late lunch, then heading over to Jurassic park area.

Hi,

I am doing HHN with my DS age 13.5 and DD age 16.5.This is their third year running to go and both previous times said it was the best thing they enjoyed on the whole holiday!

I'm sure your two will be fine and will have a fantastic time

I was there again last night (2nd Time). They really pumped up the intensity level in the houses and the walk ways. I'm normally not too startled but there was a couple of places that they got me. I say alot of kids there some as young as 7 and they were going through the better houses and were fine with them.

Personally I would say don't force children into anything that they don't feel comfortable with. Even if it doesn't seem scary to us, to children sometimes it can be and they put on a brave face - but it can affect them if they really get spooked. If your son is a bit afraid of the dark, he may be fine early evening - but later on at night I'd just say go with HOW THEY FEEL and if HE doesn't like it but she does, then go with HIM and go into somewhere light - restaurant, etc, and if he wants to go back to hotel then do that too. 12 and a half is still quite young - I don't want to seem like a stick in the mud, but children in these situations should always come first. Having said that...........if they are happy to go in the Haunted House and Ghost Train rides, then I'm sure they'll be fine with it and think it's great fun.

I was there last night, and saw some kids, but none were going into the haunted houses.

It's iffy I think...and I did see an older teen girl who the staff set her on a wheelchair, and it looked like she had REALLY gotten freaked out, just outside of the All-nite die in house.

There was about 10 employees and her friends around her trying to calm her down, good show on Universal's part I thought, they took it seriously.
