Can anyone tell me where to get those leashes? I don;t want the full harness, I will have fanny pack on the kids with their snacks inside. I want something that will attach to those.

Please don't bother telling me that they are bad and I shouldnt use them. I am dizzy..I know I am..and I have lost my kids at the spuermarket, blockbuster, party city..to name a few..and they are only 2 and 11 months old. (It's not all me either..my kids are complete wanderers and DS will actaully hide under a rack of clothing at a mall and when you call for him, he dosn't answer! My mom has lost DS and my DH has lost my DD, too. So it can't all be me, but I am dizzy just the same!)

Anyway, please let me know where to find these so I can have a little peice of mind that I will return with my kids! I will be teaching DS who to go to if he is lost and putting those tags on both of them with everyone's cell phone numbers..also, has anyone ever given a 2 year old their own walkie talkie and taught them how to use it. I was thinking I might do that with DS..please let me know if anyone else has done this.

Thank you in advance for the helpful tips

We found one that used velcro for the child and a sewn loop for the adult. We have used it by attatching the velcro to their belt loop on their pants. We have used it when going to other big places--not Disney yet--but will probably bring it with us on our trip. Oh yea, I think we found it the Dollar Store--or the one from walmart you could just use the strap and not the actulal harness

I always thought these things were horrible. Then we had our two year old. She doesn't wander, she runs! If she is put down, she will just take off running. We bought ours at Wal-Mart. The strap comes off, so you just use that part of it.

I think if there is a way to protect your child you do it! I had one when I was a child (I am now 40!) because I would run off. We had one for our now 10 yr old because he would run off. They are shorter and quicker so it is just an extension of your arms. There is nothing more painful than "nurse maids elbow" caused by the little arms being pulled apart by the parent or caretaker holding on to the hand (ask my sister- her children suffered with it).

They also are great for an extra hand if you need it. We used in on a sailboat excursion in Hawaii when he was 3 1/2. Made sure he wasn't going to fall off the boat.

Better children's stores and the discount chains all carry them.

I have seen them at the dollar store in the past. They had the one that attaches to the child's wrist. You could use it to attach to the fanny pack. I am not sure if they still carry them, but it would be a good deal for $1.

We used the fanny pack kind w/DD at 17 months and it worked well. We bought it at Babycatalog.com. Here's the link:

It isn't the nicest fanny pack- its really just a pocket with no zipper or other closure.

DH tried to use it at a football game this past weekend (she's now 2) and she just twisted the hook part around to the front and unhooked herself. So, we probably won't try to use it at WDW this year!!

FWIW, I was looking at eBay for some other "safety" items and saw a ton of these kinds of things. I'd bet most of them have hardly been used, so you may be able to pick one up for pretty cheap there.

Good Luck

How about using a stroller? They will be so tired with the walking that they would do, they'll probably use one. My five year old even sat in one and we didn't have to carry snacks/water/etc. I guess you could use the harness and a stroller. We seemed to walk really fast to get from one place to another and our son liked the stroller. However, if mine was a wanderer, I'd use whatever was necessary for them not to get lost. We called our son the "velcro" child, so we didn't have that problem...have a great time!

We just bought one of these for our 14mo son. We found it @ Walmart for $2. It's actually one of the harness types, but the "leash" part comes off and has a velcro "cuff" type thing. It's red, and the harness has Elmo on it, with a label sewn on the back with a place for clids name & parent's phone #. Just a thought, but make sure to try it out on your kid BEFORE you go. Our DH HATES the cuff part (can't stand having it attached to his wrist) but doesn't seem to mind the harness part at all. One more thought - like Riggins mentioned above, our DH also figured out in about 2 seconds how to take the velco off his wrist, so I'm sure he'd be able to figure out how to get it off a fannypack too. Just something top think about! We haven't tried attaching it to his belt loop, that might work ok. Good luck and have fun!

if they can undo velcro, then the proper harness kind are safer, my dd's fastens in the middle of the back so there is no way she could even reach the clip let alone undo it.
The ones we use in the UK are sold as safety harnesses for highchairs/strollers but also come with reins for walking.

Sorry can't help with where to buy, cause they are available everywhere over here.
