Just saw that the Daily Mail is doing an offer with Travel City Direct (i think)

Kids (16 and under) go free with each paying adult.
Included is direct flights to sanford, 5 day hopper pass and staying at a Disney value resort.
1 free kid per adult, up to 2 kids.
Adults get 10% off.
Travel is between 15th April 2004 and April 2005.
Free Car Hire.

You can book now saying you have he daily mail offer by ringing up.
You then have to collect 15 tokens and send them off. If you dont send the tokens before a certain date they will charge you full price for adults and children.

Havn't got the Daily mail so havn't got the number to ring!

On the face of it this seems like a terrfic offer, although it will be interesting to see what the 'small print' is. I wonder if this offer is valid during school holidays?

Regards

Rob

This does sound interesting - I'd certainly like to hear more detail, but I've never found it easy to extract prices, etc. from TCD without going through the motions of actually booking with them.

just gone out and got the mail.iv had a look in it and not too sure what to make of it.is it a good deal or not?

It says that adults FROM £635.that usually means its going to be well over £635.

Holidays can be taken up to april 05 and it does not mention that you cannot book in school holidays.

What does everyone else make of it? Anyone booked and can give us some details?

The number to 4ring is 08709 505 004

open mon - fri 8am to 9pm
sat - sun 9am to 7pm

Thought i might give them a ring tomorrow & see what they say.
Though not sure if it will be much use to us as we don't normally stay in a hotel.

Any one any thoughts on the offsite hotels mentioned ????

La Quinta Inn lakeside Kissimmee
Ramada resort maingate
comfort inn international drive
holiday inn mercado & radisson Barcelo

i was surprised that child ages went up to 16

WE stayed at la Quinta In Lakeside Jan 03. Good location, 5 mins from AK using the Sherberth road. Rooms had 2 double beds, fridge & coffee making facilities. Pools were clean & warm & had towels there rather than taking the ones from the room. Basic, but clean & tidy. My opinion is "it's only for sleeping in"!!!

Someone priced this up on another board and for 2 adults and 2 free children the price for 2 weeks next April was £3100. doesn't sound like agood deal to me.

If you look at their web site there is no mention of the hotels in the offer. Hence you can't see the price without the daily mail vouchers. It seems a bit sneaky to me, you should be able to see how much you are saving.

I phoned them about this yesterday for 4 adults and 3 children and was quoted approx £6500 which I thought was pretty steep as I had a quote a week before for normal price without the daily mail offer for approx £4500. Go figure! This price was for 2nd April 2005, which is the easter holidays for next year. In my eyes it seems that this is a bit of a con.

I priced up Easter for a teacher friend on the offer using Pop Century it worked up substantially cheaper than Virgin and other operators for those specific dates (remembering that Easter is always an expensive time,) At that time they did have Easter availability and both kids went free. The free 5 day pass for an over 10 "child"is an adult pass too. My friend eventually decided it was still too much money so I subsequently booked just for myself and my 13 year old for January. Basically I got his flight free plus the pass. They still charged me the single supplement for the room-which I expected. As most holiday companies offer little or no discount for a 13 yo travelling with one adult I'm getting a good deal. Two weeks at a Disney hotel for 2 at under £1000 total works for me.
I used to work in travel and am used to putting Florida packages together myself so I'm aware of discount codes/consolidated fares etc and still couldn't have put this particular package together myself for this price.
Of course because I consider I'm getting a good deal I have the excuse.......to justify spending more money on "extras" shopping, more sit-down meals, town car for the transfer etc so overall probably won't save anything !! ;)

I was quote £3000 for 2 ad 2ch aged 12, 11 this summer, which isn't too bad.

I think the prices quoted from them "out of school holiday time" is pricey, but school holidays if they have availablility isn't too bad.

The above included car insurance £29 *14= £409, 5 day hopper passes for two adults is another £350, so only about 2300 for flights and accomodation in the summer.

The "from" price concept is very simple- it just means they have to offer a certain percentage of the holidays for the advertised price, so once the (very) limited number of holidays at that price have been sold, you then get quoted a substantially higher price.

It lets them be flexible on how low they can go, but also on how much higher too.

It's how EasyJet can sell seats for £1- they might only have 15 seats on a flight available for £1, but the interest generated by the promotion will enable them to sell the remaining 190 seats for £90, as people call, can't get the "bargain" price, but book anyway as £90 doesn't look too bad.

It's also a matter of common sense.
When an offer is "from" and covers both peak and low season dates (like the TCD Mail offer which is valid for a year) the from price is obviously going to be for the low season dates at the cheapest hotel. It won't be for school holiday time or any other peak periods. Having said that however -the TCD deal for the Easter holiday dates I checked with the two free child places although not £650 per adult or anywhere near that-still worked out much cheaper than any of the other packages with other companies for those dates at the Disney value resorts that I had checked. However that doesn't mean it is cheaper for ALL dates and all combinations of adults/kids in the party-merely on the one I checked.
I always think the "from" is a double edged sword....as nemo says some people will ring find they can't get the deal offered and will then book at a higher price....others will however feel cheated and won't book with that particular company and book elsewhere regardless as a matter of principle.

DW has phoned tcd several times and now has the direct no. for one of the lads.

They have been more than helpfull in providing us with quotes. One price was actually much higher than another tour operator and after making enquiries with his boss, rang us back and matched the price.
It's was a massive £1000.00 difference !!
This also meant a much better seat on the jumbo with all drinks etc included on the plane.

Once we know where we want to stay we will be phoning back again to get the best price.
