We're trying 'Ohana for the first time with our big family group after Thanksgiving. I saw on the 'Ohana menu at allears.net that "Alternate Children's Selections Available Upon Request." Anyone know what they are? My DS pretty much eats 4 things in a restaurant (Grilled Cheese, Hot Dog, Chicken Fingers, Pasta) so I'm hopeful that one of those is offered.

We were just there last week and when they saw our 2yr old the waitress immediately told me that she could get her chicken nuggets if she didn't want the other food.
Little did she know though just how adventurous an eater our toddler is, she finished off the plate of broccoli almost by herself.

I do know that chicken nuggets and fries are available. This last trip in January, we ordered a plate of fries for each kid, because they don't like anything other than the grilled chicken that is on the actual menu.

When we ate at Ohana last month, we saw plenty of plates of nuggets/fries being delivered. Our kids loved the bread and devoured the steak and the chicken (once we cut off the "char" marks which freaked them out for some reason). They also looooved their dessert of ice cream with Mickey sprinkles. :)

DD has had a hotdog there twice.

think they will do any of the usual kids menu items if you wish or kids can have the same food as adults.

We ordered my son a grilled cheese there last week. He didn't eat much of it but I tried it and it was really good. A warning though - the price for the grilled cheese was the same as it would have been for the "regular" 'Ohana meal - like $17.

Regarding the price of a kids meal, it's been a few years since DD got a kids meal at O'hana. But when she did the charge was whatever the kid's price was for the O'hana dinner (I think at the time that was more than what a kids meal from Kona would have been).

Don't know if that is still the policy or not given what the PP shared.

My husband and I were anxiously anticipating eating at Ohanas for the first time on our last trip. I was nervous about my kids though because they tend to be picky. I read here on the disboards that an alternate kid meal could be requested. I was a little nervous about that as well in case this wasn't standard procedure. Much to my surprise, our waiter offered my girls an alternate meal before I even had a chance to request it. There wasn't a menu so I don't recall all of the options; he just stated what they could choose from. One of mine had a hamburger while the other had macaroni-n-cheese. I remember hot dogs being an option as well. Others have stated that chicken is an option as well, so it seems all the bases are covered. We LOVED eating there!!!

This is good to hear. My 4 yo will only eat meats that are breaded (fish, chicken, shake n bake pork chop) and bacon :confused3 so chicken nuggets would be good, he also loves grilled cheese and mac n cheese so it sounds like he will be OK. I was a little worried about what he might eat since meat is out! His 2 yo brother on the other hand, will have no problem eating all the meats and sides LOL

We always order a hamburger for my very picky DD8. She is the one who requests to eat at O'hana...not for the food...but for the games. She loves it there!

From what I understand it is still the policy that you will pay the regular 'Ohana children's price, even if your child orders the alternative food.

On our last visit (June 1, 2011), I mentioned to our server that our DD7 would be wanting a separate kid's meal. He said that he would bring out something special for her and did not ask what we would like. I was a bit confused because we had eaten there many times and had always ordered either mac and cheese or chicken nuggets. Well, he hooked her up, big time. He brought her out a large (could have fed several children) skillet with chicken nuggets, mac and cheese and french fries. I am not exaggerating at the size of this meal. It could have easily fed several children. He also brought out her own ice cream for dessert. He was a wonderful server and catered to our daughter the entire meal.

Last year, they gave my youngest DD (age 1.5 at the time) chicken nuggets, grapes and fries because she didn't want anything that was offered (well except the noodles, she loved those :rotfl:)
