The search feature has been disabled and I can't find any info. on items that help with the pressure and kids ears. My dd had an awful time with it on our last flight. What and where do I purchase something? I vaquely remember someone posting they had success with some type of ear muff contraption. HELP!!!

Ear Planes are the way to go! They helped my ds (12) who has an awful time with the pressure. We put them in and whala! They were amazing! You can buy them in child or adult size at Walmart or Kmart. About $4 a pair. And they can usually be used twice per pair. They are worth every penny to not have a crying child!!!

I just bought the earplanes for my kids and when I saw they had an adult one I snapped it up!! I even bought backup pairs just in case. You didn't mention your child's age but it was posted that sucking on a straw (or bottle), chewing gum will help. I had a flight attendant show me a trick, plug your nose and gently blow through your nose. This helps pop your ears.

Holding the nose and blowing doesn't help us much. Get the Airplanes. The only thing that has worked for us.

I really suffered w/ ear pressure the first time I flew, I tried gum, ect. (I have not tried ear planes), but I accidently discovered that yawning works best for me.

Works for me! Hope it will help you!

Another vote for earplanes!! My dd has very narrow ear passages--she uses ear planes faithfully, and that has helped a lot. Our Dr. also said that children should never lay down on a plane--staying upright helps equalize the pressure/fluid. Good luck!

Love earp[lanes, cannot fly without them! I will also take a decongestant before I get on the plane.

Hi everyone - Happy New Year

My son (age 8) just had his ear check-up today - he's gone through two sets of tubes in both ears. His tubes are now out of both ears and was released by his doctors - YEAH!!!

After reading these posts - I asked his doctor about our son and flying - our trip is in May 2002. He said to go and get him the earplanes - it will help to equalize the change in pressure. A good investment for just a couple of dollars.

Thanks for the heads up - never would have thought to ask about that if it weren't for the boards.

My dd tried the gum, holding her nose and blowing and , yawning. (we didn't try to the straw thing--but will keep that in mind in addition to the ear planes) Nothing helped. She was so miserable. I went out last night and got the ear planes. They only had adults, I got three packages. I'm going to go to the Wal-Mart in another city tonight to see if they have the children's sizes there. Thanks alot!!!!

Another vote for earplanes! Before we discovered these, a flight attendant helped my son with his ear pain by giving him two foam cups with hot,wet paper towels in each for him to hold over his ears. This really helped.

I couldn't find the child size at Walmart. By us, only K-Mart had the child size. Call before you go. Could save you a trip!

We just got back from our kids first plane trip. We bought the ear planes and they worked great! My DS has a lot of problems popping his ears and we had no problem with these.

We were able to find the child's earplanes at our local AAA office, so you may want to try there if you have a membership!

I found ear planes for children at our travel agent(she is bringing them in for me for this trip)It may be worth a call to some agencies to see if they can get them.

Sounds great! We are going to try these as we have a two year old & a four year old that could benefit from these. Thanks for the tip!!

We used the earplanes last trip and they were fantastic. The kids had quite a bit of pain on the trip down during landing so we bought them at MCO before coming back. I won't get on the plane without them again. My husband also used them and said they were great.

For those who have found the earplanes in WalMart or K-Mart, where did you find them? We checked with the medicines etc. and couldn't find any. Have found them online, but they cost a little more, so I would like to get them local if I can.

:bounce::wave::bounce:

I found earplanes at walmart in the ear care part of the medicine isle. They were next to regular ear plugs and swimmers ear plugs, ear wax removal kits and the like. Hope this helps!!

Are you suppose to leave the ear planes in the whole time or just until you reach your flight elevation? We're flying DTW to MCO, about 2 1/2 hours. ~:)~
