Misty, these are fantastic!!!! I love all the colors and fabrics!!! The girls look so happy with them too!!! GREAT JOB!!!!

I am so sorry you have another sick little one, which one is it?
I hate winter. It seems like someone is ALWAYS sick! We just got over nasty colds, and now Corey is getting one back again! UGGH! And, Lydia is coughing again. I am SOOOO ready for spring!!! Or Florida.
Okay, it is only 1:15am at my house and I'm going to bed! I finally finished my bows which take me forever! I made a set for the valentine's jumper, one for the AK outfit and one for the Nemo jumper. Must sleep now! Tomorrow (I guess today actually) I just have to make 2 bracelets, clean the house, and I probably should pack!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I'll hopefully be back before friday night so you all can my dd again.
Good morning Early risers:sunny:
F.)I tried the Ariel one before they posted directions. I really don't know that it is share worthy though!!! They also put up Mulan and Jasmine directions! I need to bookmark those yet. It's on http://hipgirlclips.com/forums/1st-instruction-contest/ So, I believe there are now directions for Cinderella, Mulan, Jasmine, and Ariel. I LOOOOVE the Mulan one!

Here is my attempts at making a cute dress for my 7 month old daughter. It is no where near any of the ones on here, but it is my first attempt. I would love to know where you find instructions or patterns on making the patchwork dresses that are posted on here.

th_DSC_0033.jpg
That is REALLY cute!!! Your daughter is adorable, I just love the little pigtails!!! Do you mean this is the first thing you've sewn?? It's really really good!!!

WELCOME! You'll love it here! Everyone is very helpful. Make sure you check out the bookmarks and photobucket account for lots of tutorials and inspring pics. (To find them, go to the very first post of this thread, at the bottom, in bold, are two links - one for the photobucket account, and one for the tutorials. The links are also found in TeresaJoy's signature whenever she posts).
Thanks, you beat me to it!

Here is the princess leaving for school today:

th_100_2180.jpg

I was thinking, all this needs is pink boots and it would be prefect! :rotfl:

It actually could use another ruffle, but I am so tired of ruffling, I just couldn't bear it. And I didn't want to go buy more fabric again! I am working on a little hat to match, maybe I will finish before she gets home from school!

WE LOVE IT!!!! Megan as always is adorable!!! That outfit is great!! I love those fabrics!!! Pink boots are a must!! But, I'm loving those shoes with the Hello Kitty socks!! Lydia wants them now, thanks!

Lydia says, in her best oh-my-goodness-that-is-the-cutest-thing-ever voice, "OOOOHHHHHHHH that is SOOOOO CUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTE!!!!!!"

But, why is she not doing the Megan?

We finally got some snow! First time since before Dallas could walk. It wasn't much but something to get excited about around here. This is his snowman!

th_100_4210.jpg
That is the cutest snowman ever!!! Dallas looks like he was enjoying himself out there!

Much better. it has been a rough 6 months or so. My daughter had trouble with surgery and we were told has aspergers and I suffered two Miscarriage one in August and the other in december but finally things are going better and I am in a better place
I am so so sorry. I am glad to hear you are in a better place now.
do you make customs for each day you are at disney?
do your dd's also wear princess dresses to special dinners?
1.)I haven't before, but that is the plan now. I am also planning on bringing several outfits into the park, to change into depending on the characters we see.
2.)There will be princess dresses!

It's a SNOW DAY here!!!

Here are the little darlings playing in the snow.
th_Winter07-08090.jpg
CUTE kids!!!!

I believe they are Sams Pettis. the problem is they take so long to get to you... 6-8 weeks

They are up to at least 16-20 weeks now, and they are no longer taking rush orders.

A.)I started to just get 5 yards each... but my dh was like "you know you want it all" so yep I got it all LOL
B.)Don't know if this has been mentioned but all walmarts are going to stop selling fabric eventully... so keep checking if yours hasn't already! mine didn't have much else left.. all the thread was gone.
A.) Could you have your husband call my husband?? For some reason, Brian actually thinks it is possible that I have TOO MUCH fabric and ribbon!!! :scared1:
B.) Don't give up on Walmart fabrics!!!! We had a fabric department close at one of the stores here, but they got so many phone calls and complaints that they REOPENED it!!! Our brand spankin new SuperWalmart that they just built in my town has a fabric department.
Come on ladies (and Tom), CALL them, EMAIL them, WRITE letters!! Let them know how important the fabric department is to us!!! I've wrote several letters, but I'm going to do it again. We need to let them know what we think!
It was made in the late 70's - I am told it is one of the first electronic sewing machines!
Cool!!! I have an old electronic Viking from the early (maybe mid) 80s. It looks similar to your machine. It still sews great. (Actually, it's my cousin's machine, that she is letting me borrow indefinetely)
Thank you so much for the warm welcome! :)

I'm totally excited to look at the bookmarks and the photobucket pages! You all are so talented! I cant wait to get started!

We are excited to see what you make!!!

Hey ladies (and tom),

I don't know if anyone mentioned this, but on YCMT, if you sign up for their new newsletter, You can SEW this, you get a bundle of free downloads. They are apurse, 2 embroideries, happy birthday qulted tale runner, and an AG robe pattern. AND the free newsletter.

FYI.

-Angela

This has been posted before, but I thought it was time to bring it up again. Let's let Walmart know that we do not want them to close the fabric departments.
http://walmartstores.com/GlobalWMStoresWeb/navigate.do?catg=224

I also wanted to add that the Super Walmart that was just built in our town was not suppose to have a fabric department. They changed that plan just weeks before they opened because of all he protests! So, I really believe that we can make a difference if we all speak out about this.

ok, totally stupid question I know! Anyways I lost a formula I had. Have been looking for it for an hour!
Help ladies!!!!!!!!
ok I want to make the stripwork jumper dress. but instead make them patches. what is the formula. I know it is first layer __in then the second layer add.... etc etc. Help please.

This seems like an ongoing saga for me! To recap, DH's company had (notice the past tense here - it will make sense later!) a meeting scheduled in February at the Dolphin. We originally planned on all of us going and my parents were going to meet us at WDW to help out with the girls in the parks since it would be just me by myself for 5 days without DH. We got lucky and I became pregnant with #3. Since #3 is coming, we have some house projects we would like to get done before the arrival to make things go smoother. Due to costs involved, we considered scrapping the trip to WDW to keep our expenses down. Last week (after many tears by me!) we decided to go since it will be our last vacation for a while until the new baby is old enough to be easily transported (at least a year for a real vacation not just visiting family). We booked the hotels (using hilton points) and plane tickets (using American Airlines miles) for ourselves and my parents. Now for the new news.........drumroll please............yesterday DH gets an email saying their meeting has been cancelled. Now just to clarify DH works for one of the biggest companies, if not the biggest (I think it is actually #2) in the WORLD. This meeting was for one small division of sales that would involve approximately 2000 sales people traveling there. He had already received his itinerary and it included a private party at Sea World, tickets to La Nouba, etc. We thought everything was set in stone so we went through and made our plans and, of course, now everything is up in the air! I would really like to have a discussion with whoever made the decision :rotfl2: . Do they know the havoc they create in my life? And I finally got started sewing yesterday after buying my fabric on Monday. So now our decision is to use more hilton points to cover the time when we thought we would be at the Dolphin (DH travels so we do have lots but not the point) and still go or scrap the whole thing (we would definitely get our hotel points back but I'm not sure about our airmiles). On the positive side DH would be with us the whole time which is fantastic! On the down side, money is still an issue and even with all of the free points we are still paying for tickets, food, and kennel for our dog (not cheap.....they just went up to $38 a day:scared1: and due to flight times he would have to be there for 10 days). Also, after we booked everything we told our girls we were going (DD4 and DD2) so they are excited and I hate to dissapoint them. We told our oldest that she could get her haircut for the first time (she has kinky curly hair that only looks slightly past shoulder length when dry but when wet is to her bottom) there too so she is really excited! And it will be our last trip to WDW probably for a couple of years so I'm leaning towards going but I'm so frustrated! Sorry for the rant I just needed to share!

This is genious!! I am so copying this if you don't mind. During our entire last trip I was trying so hard to keep up with pennies and quarters for DD to be able to do the penny presses. This is a wonderful idea to keep all that change together.

I have never made one but if I remember correctly if you want it really twirly you take the waist measurement and for the waist line you double that measurement and for every layer after you continue to double the previous layer.

For a 20 inch waist you would make 10 four inch patches (for 40 inches total around the waist). The next layer would have 20 four inch patches, next 40 four inch patches, etc. I just used the patch size because it was easy, you could use what ever you wanted, this is just an example.

I hope this helped and maybe somebody that has actually made one before could chime in on this!

I don't love this T-shirt, I couldn't find a fitted girly one anywhere. The applique turned out well though. I may add a bow to the mouse and make it a Minnie, same with the T for DD10. Then again, maybe not.

IMG_0162_edited-1.jpg

Something you might try in the future if not for this trip is to do a lettuce edge on purchased tees to make them a little girlier. Since you have a serger, it should be pretty simple. You'd just take out or cut off the existing hems (sleeves and body) then do a rolled edge hem. To get the knit to ruffle, you stretch it as you sew. It might take some practice but it's a fun edge to do and a pretty quick way to make a basic tee a bit more feminine.

BACK TO MY QUESTIONS..
do you make customs for each day you are at disney?
do your dd's also wear princess dresses to special dinners?

My DD is getting older so I probably won't have many more years before she'll refuse to wear anything I make. We have tentative plans for a Disneyland trip this spring so I'm already planning to make outfits for each day. When we went 2 years ago, I didn't have a custom set for every day but almost. They were painted jeans and coordinating tops that I made for her. I did buy 2 outfits but have to say the ones I made were my favorite... but mostly because I couldn't afford to buy anything really elaborate. I doubt we'll do any princess or character meals but if we did, she'd definitely have a special outfit for it.

I like to have each new tier double the length of the one above. I usually do 3 - 4 tiers. More than that I'd probably change my ratio because the 4th tier is 7-9+ yards long - I can't imagine doubling it! I usually make the first tier double the waist or chest measurement, whichever is bigger.

I would be frustrated too! Just think of the lovely time you will have in the park. It will all work, don't stress too much you have a baby in you!

thank you so much, now why could I not remember double the length of the one above. oh lord it is only thursday!!! I haven't made one in about 8 months. guess I shouldmake them more often.

Lori

LOL okay glad I'm not alone ;) I guess it feels a bit weird even thinking about dd not wearing any of her cute gymbo clothes while we are there LOL
but last summer I only did the 2 tanks, and I really was wishing she had more. and looking back at pics I was wishing I had done something a bit "dressier" for pics... so I think the tutu idea will work out, and still be comfy cause it will be basically tank and knit shorts .. the tutus will be fairly short and just slip over her outfit.

You aren't alone!!! I think my girls wear gymbo pretty much everyday except when we are at the world and even then my youngest will be in gymbo

are you on gymbofriens or gymborebel by chance

I would be frustrated too! Just think of the lovely time you will have in the park. It will all work, don't stress too much you have a baby in you!

I'm trying not to stress. I keep believing that it will all work out and truthfully, we could just go and not worry about it but I'm so ANNOYED!

It's a SNOW DAY here!!!
Kids: :cool1: :woohoo: :yay: :dance3:

Jham: Love all of your outfits and accessories. Have a great, WARM, time at the World.

Sugarbees: Your kids are adorable. Your littlest has an adorable smile.

I'm so jealous of all you people in warm places. I'm sooo tired of winter. At least we should be able to get out. Have to go to Gymboree to spend my Gymbucks. :thumbsup2

YIKES! I can't find my Gymbucks! I even have a babysitter coming in a couple of hours so I can run and spend them. I had it all planned out. Since we will be out of town, I had to go to the store instead of online and I have had this planned for weeks. Knowing me, if I don't find them, I will go anyway and just preted I do and pay the extra money. GRRRRR! Less spending money for Disney!

This seems like an ongoing saga for me! To recap, DH's company had (notice the past tense here - it will make sense later!) a meeting scheduled in February at the Dolphin. How stressful! We have often spent more than we should on a vacation (sugarbees will testify, sometimes we like to travel in style :rotfl: ) but it always works out in the end and I'm glad we did. The memories will be worth it in the end! We had stress on our Disneyland trip in October. We were using our timeshare but it got evacuated because of the wildfires a couple of days before we left. We had to decide to cancel, or shell out $ for a hotel. The kids were all excited (and so was I) and I couldn't cancel. We had a great trip, but it was stressful planning!

I have never made one but if I remember correctly if you want it really twirly you take the waist measurement and for the waist line you double that measurement and for every layer after you continue to double the previous layer.

Tom also has a formula where he makes the squares wider in each layer so it's not so many squares. I think he did this in the famous Potato Head dress (but I don't have time to check in photobucket).

Excellent idea Lisa! Thank you! I will definitely try this in the future. I'm just getting used to my serger, so this I will have to try.

She is SUPER cute! You did a great job on the outfit too - beautiful colors!
thank you!

Lovin' all the new outfits ladies!!!

Welcome to all the newbies as well!!!!

We got some snow too! We were soooo excited, we haven't seen this much snow in the 4.5 years we have lived in Atlanta.

snow10.jpg

And to keep the pics Disney related -- Parker is wearing a Minnie Mouse hat!
snow4.jpg

Okay I am lovin' all of these snow pics! Especially with the cute kids!

Ok, so yesterday was only slow as long as I was online. :lmao:

I love everyone's new things. Esp. the blue & brown paisley, that's is wonderful fabric.

Jham, I *may* have to copy those sippy cups & M&M's holders for our next trip. I wish I'd thought of that for the last one.

 I hope this year is much better for you & your family.

Thanks! I liked that paisley fabric as soon as I saw it!

SOOOOOOOO cute! I just bought the daisy fabric at Joann's the other day! I LOVE the fabrics you chose to coordinate! GREAT JOB!!!:cheer2:

Okay, here are the iron-ons for our trip at least:

I made sweatshirts/pants for the 3 oldest. I used Amy Mickey's basic mickey head shape and used Word and Photoshop to make up my own stuff inside (names, the 4 parks, etc.) It took more time than I had to spend! But they are cute and at a total cost of under $10, not too bad. Not too happy with my Magic Kingdom logo, but no time to worry about it.
IMG_0154.jpg

IMG_0155.jpg

I did the same thing with these--copied some of Amy's with different names in them and erased the names and put my own in.
IMG_0156.jpg

These I had Amy do the whole thing for me. Sorry the picture is so bad. The kids LOVE these! (Spongie, I was putting my Christmas cards away the other day and realized your photo is with the whole family in the Jedi shirts. Loved it!)
IMG_0157.jpg

Amy has done some for us too. They are awesome!

I was at Wal-Mart the other day and saw these "insert your own artwork" sippy cups on clearance, so I bought a couple and printed off some more of Amy's designs and put them in. Both cups say "Lily" and "Walt Disney World 2008"
Where in the store did you find these? I NEED them.

IMG_0153.jpg

Just trying to rack up the posts here :lmao: don't want to drop out of the top 20! (or if I already have, then top 25!)

This is my favorite, it is for the PPP on the 21st. It took me forever to figure out how I wanted to do the shirt. I was going to do a satin stitch around the eye-patch but ran out of thread :scared1: I want one for me! The tulle gathering on the skirt was not bad at all because I used the dental floss method. DD was feeling a little rock 'n' roll I guess because she wanted to pose on the "stage" She LOVES this outfit.
This is great! I love seeing customes for older girls as mine is 8 going on 16!

IMG_0170_edited-1.jpg

IMG_0172.jpg

Yes, it's me again--last one! (photos not post, I'm going to be up late making bows).

I stayed up until 2:30 this morning making this for DD2 to wear on the airplane. All the white parts are sparkly! What is this sickness?

IMG_0158.jpg

And just for fun (okay, I'm probably the only one having fun here :rotfl: I'm getting a little loopy from lack of sleep) My kids love the coin press machines! So I got these mini m&m containers, emptied them out :rolleyes1 peeled the label off, and stuck some stickers on. I got some shiny new pennies at the bank and stacked 2 quarters then a penny, etc. etc. The quarters fit perfectly! And I won't be fishing through my wallet looking for change every time we pass a machine! Sorry the picture is blurry :confused3

Great idea. We have used the M&M containers before for the penny machines, but I love the idea of prefilling with quarter, quarter, penny. All 5 kids will have their own to carry, so using stickers will help them know which is theirs.

okay I am losing my mind I think :lmao: do you all make customs for you dc to wear everyday you are at disney?
yesterday I was looking at pettiskirts and had a great idea ;) for a moment I thought she needed them for disney... I thought I could make a cute tank, similar to the ones I made for her last year.. but alot more of them ...we will be there for 10 days so I came up w/ 10 different idea :confused3 for example - green petti w/ tink tank, red/black petti w/ minnie tank etc... well then I priced the pettis and priced making them myself :lmao: lets just say thats not happening LOL I may get 1 for her b-day this year.. but thats it (about $30 each if you order them whole sale) SO then I had another great idea.. I already make tutu's for dd's dance class so I could have the same idea but w/ a cute matching tutu.. I thought she could wear the same style knit shorts she wore last year under it, so if needed I could slip off the tutu.. I could have a ziplock in my bag to smoosh it down if I had to ;)

but then I was wondering if I was totally insane for even thinking about making her customs for each day we are there??? Esp whan I am a clothes freak when it comes to my dd... gymbo obsessed etc..

okay-thanks for reading my rant LOL
BACK TO MY QUESTIONS..
do you make customs for each day you are at disney?
do your dd's also wear princess dresses to special dinners?
If this is insane, then I'm in the loony bin already. I have just finished making 2 outfits/day for a 7 day trip for 5 kids. Now I've added custom PJ's. pillowcases and a diaper tote! It needs to stop so I can work on my touring plans!

I want to thank everyone for their encouragement on the dress! We leave in 11 days for our 1st trip to WDW. I am excited about the trip as well as the outfit I have made. You guys are great & I appreciate all the help in figuring out how to do this stuff. When I get back, I hope to post some more pictures of my newest outfits. I hope they are more like the ones I see on here. :cool1:

:rotfl: I'm so jealous of all of the snow pictures. Living in Dallas we hardly get any snow. I'm from the St. Louis area where we usually got some snow every year so I kind of miss it! I'm really not a winter person, I like it nice and warm but I do miss it and my kids have never really seen a measurable amount on the ground. Dallas winters are kind of yucky IMO. We aren't nice and warm like FL, everything goes brown and dies and we don't get any of the fun winter snow. Today we are cold for here, around 43 degrees. I know to many of you that seems warm but here they won't even let our kids out for recess :rotfl: ! And we still get all of the yucky winter colds (three out of four of us have them right now), flu, strep throat (my personal favorite!), runny noses, etc. Send some of that snow our way please!

I agree! I'm in Amarillo (howdy neighbor!) But I'm originally from North Dakota so I know all about the cold, snowy, winter weather. Yesterday we got a very, very light dusting of snow. Today of course it's all gone. :)

I almost forgot! I made this last week!! This was actually my second custom...thanks again to jham for the patterns and inspiration!
