I was at JoAnns today and saw fabric similar to the "Epcot" fabric people were finding at Hancock's last year. There were two prints... one with flags and faces (a little different than original print) and a coordinating print with small faces and writting (sorry - didn't look close enough to see what it said). The other difference from the Hancock fabric is that this one has a light blue backgroung rather than white. Both fabrics were $4.99 a yard and on sale for 30% off. It didn't look like anything had been cut off the bolt yet, so these must be fairly new.

I didn't pick any up, since I still haven't used what I bought at Hancocks, but the more I think about it, I may have to go back and pick up just a little to have one hand

Wow I didnt even think about making a practice cake...what a grand idea! I love the way it turned out with the cars and the m&m's...awesome job. I tried working with frosting and it is a bear. It took me three hours to frost my DD's birthday cake last weekend...here it is:

My day job is a cake decorator I can tell you that you really can't use canned frosting to "decorate" a cake. You can "frost" a cake with it, but really you need something more stiff. Here is my general icing recipe that is pretty yummy and easy to decorate with:

1C shortening
1/2 C butter
2 lbs. Powdered sugar
1-2 tsp. vanilla
3-8 tbsp. milk depending on how you want the consistency

for icing the cake use a thinner consistency, for decorating use a thicker.

BTW, I think the cake came out pretty great! Who doesn't love a sweet sugary spongebob

Oh, and yes, that's a scrape on her face from running into her dresser only about 4 hours earlier!!!

It is kind of surprising that we made it to almost 4 before a major accident, because this girl is fearless!!! I'm shocked that we weren't in an ER sooner!!!

BIRTHDAY PARTIES ARE DANGEROUS...TO YOUR DENTAL HEALTH!!!

Madison and I were at a birthday party today and Madison knocked out one of her front teeth!! Yes, her front tooth! They had one of those bounce house things and Madison had been in it all day. It was the very end of the party and Madison came out of the bouncy for a drink of water. After she drinks, she starts crying and says that she is missing her tooth. Sure enough, I look up and she's bleeding and her top, front, left tooth is completely missing. We ice and call the pediatrician. The service calls back and basically she needs to eat soft foods for a few days, follow up with the dentist on Monday and if she has pain take Tylenol. Because it's a baby tooth, there's nothing that she can do. So, here's her new toothless grin.

Oh, but she gets to do one thing before her sister - GET A VISIT FROM THE TOOTH FAIRY!!!

How did she lose her tooth? Did she hit it on something? I used to know a little girl that had her front tooth jammed up into her gum. She was spinning, fell, hit a table and it pushed her tooth up so only half of it was visible. dentist said the same thing nothing they could do, just let it fall out. Luckily it didn't affect her permanant tooth.

I am behind on the this thread! I had a nice multi quote going last night, then lost it. So, I apologize, I am not ignoring anyone, I just need to get caught back up!

I have been working on Lydia's Giselle dress, and finished it enough to show pictures! I need a flower and a ribbon for the front yet.

When I showed Arminda and Lydia, they actually gasped! You gotta love that kind of reaction!!! And, even Corey said, "WOW!" and told Lydia she had to try it on so he could see it!

I heard that the tooth fairy is bringing her 5 $1 gold coins!! She's very proud of the fact that she'll get to see the tooth fairy before her sister. Now, I'm not sure how she'll feel about the fact that she'll have that toothless grin for the next 3-4 years, but oh well. She's my little cutie, anyway!!!

My DD knocked out both her front teeth when she was 2-1/2. She got them back between 1st & 2nd grade so she was around 6-1/2 or 7. I only remember when she got them back from looking at her school pictures.

My friends daughter had to have a baby tooth pulled early because it was "dead". They put in a fake tooth for her so she wouldn't be toothless for so long. You might want to ask the dentist about that. When my kids lost their front teeth they started eating differently (biting off food at the side of their mouth) and there might be other issues but not sure.

What's funny is that her sister is turned 6 in October and hasn't lost any teeth. Her front 2 bottom teeth are barely loose, and they've been that way for months. I actually think that it's more the fact that she keeps wiggling them. So, it may be a while for Madison's permanent teeth to come in, if she's anything like her sister, but I figure it just gives us cute pictures.

It's amazing how many people that I've heard from that have said that one of their children, or a friend's child has lost a baby tooth way early.

Hello everyone, I can't get over the talent on this thread! You are all amazing! I don't know how to sew but am hoping to learn. I do have a question........How hard is it to sew a shower curtain? Is it something I could learn from a beginners sewing class or is it more involved than that?

I got this loverly new machine and haven't had a day off to use it. I finally got time off and I had a fever from tues night through last night. It's finally broke and I went back to work today but oddly enough have tomorrow and monday off but will probably be tyring to catch up from being out of commission for 3 days. Sheesh, the life of a working mom.

I've been totally absent b/c of my crazy work schedule and being totally beat. i am hoping to get the mortgage caught up w/ tax money at the end of the month and B has been working too so hopefully we will be able to get online at home before too long and I can keep up w/ you chatty cathy's.

Hey t - I found it at the Walmart on the south side of St. Pete. That's the only Walmart around that I know still has a fabric department. I haven't been there in several weeks, but it was there the last time that I went.

If you want to use regular fabric (not the plastic), over a liner. I'd think it would be pretty easy. It's basically straight seams and hem. If you buttonhole at the top, that may be a bit of a challenge. But then you could always use those curtain rod hooks that clip.
