Is there anyone that is sharing hairbow instructions, pretty please? If so please email me!

Thanks!

Gee, I feel invisible today (lol)... no one answered my question.

That's okay... I went to another site and they answered my questions.

Keep up the great work, everyone... beautiful work!

I didn't answer because I'm not an eBay seller. I enjoy making clothes for my girls, but haven't ventured into selling. However, I can tell you that I go in spurts. If I make a dress that fits one of my girls well, and she likes it and it was easy, then I will tend to make several of them back to back. I have also gotten to a point with my sewing that I can take a bodice from one pattern and match with a skirt from another.

Sorry, you felt you were being ignored. This has been a hard thread for me to keep up with. Even though I log on several times a day, this thread always seems to have lots of new posts.

Thanks for that site! I poked around over there and added it to my favs list. :)

I don't sell custom outfits on ebay. I'm like you and I sell other stuff. I've been working for 3 weeks on making my twins custom Wiggles outfits for the show in August. I've worked daily, and I'm still a few weeks away from being finished. I would have to sell an outfit for a $1,000 to make me feel like it was worth my time.

I learned how to make appliques from Mytwotinks. I make my own applique patterns. It isn't hard to do appliques - to me it is time consuming because of the satin stitch outlining.

I like to use Simplicity Easy Sew patterns.

I can't wait to see the Wiggles outfits. I'm so impressed with your foresight. I generally do things last minute. For example, I started painting black stripes on a plain white t-shirt last Sunday night (about 8:30) because I decided I wanted a referee t-shirt for our VBS which started the very next day.

My backyardigans outfit is done...ok I know NOT Disney. ;) Pretend it is Mickey if you must. ha ha My first button holes. First time using a machine to sew on buttons. First blind stitch hem (I think that is what it is called) a couple places didn't catch but it doesn't mattter I don't think. Also my first applique (on the pockets). Next one will be a mickey one I think. The legs look like they don't match up in the picture for some reason, but they do. It fits him perfectly too, I was shocked about that. He is 21 months old wears a 2T/3T and I made the toddler size 4 McCalls.

I'm usually last minute too. However, after seeing all of the beautiful outfits y'all have made, I'm investing in a new machine and tons of fabric to make clothes for my grandkids. The thing is none of my kids are married and I have no grands on the horizon. I'll just make a bunch in different sizes for boys and girls!!

BNF2- How cute! That belt turned out GREAT! I love it so much.
I know I say this every week, I really need to have a girl. :rotfl2:

I am *so* impressed!!! :) Congratulations.

I am still too scared to try buttonholes (my machine has a 432-step process for buttonholing, I think!)

I am going to the store tomorrow with DS to pick out some fabric for some pajama pants. I figure making something from a pattern is my next step after the pillowcase dress (which turned out okay.)

DS wants a hawaiian shirt (with buttonholes). Maybe if the PJ pants turn out, I'll consider it. Or maybe a twirl skirt for DD. ;)

Your applique's turned out cute, too. I'm a big chicken. ;)

Well a thousand thanks for sharing with us! :cheer2: I think my eyes almost fell out when I saw the instructions being sold! I admit, I would have never thought that you put the ribbon in the oven (first thing I thought of was FIRE!) :rotfl: Guess that is the best method though since nobody here really seems to be an advocate of starch. Good to know!

Baking ribbon does sound crazy, but I think of it in terms of a giant curling iron. That seems to make more sense. HA!

I am so excited I could scream. I found the most perfect fabric for an Epcot outfit. I'm afraid I won't be able to part with that outfit. I ordered it and can't wait to get it, I will definately be posting photos.
I'm also thrilled, I got to assist my first c-section last night. Too fun!!!
Beautiful little boy, was born. Absolutely gorgeous. I almost cried right along with the mum. LOL.

That's wonderful that you got to share that joy with that family! When I had my DS (he's almost 6), I was the only person in labor and they had the nursing students their touring Labor & Delivery. They asked if the students could come in and watch b/c they wouldn't be coming back that semester. I said "sure", let me tell you that room filled up quick (about 10 extra people)! Come to find out after the delivery one of the students was a sister to one of my good friends -- so she saw EVERYTHING!!!! We kind of giggle when we see eachother now!

The centers look great!! The only other thing that you might use if you don't like the look of the fray check is to get a heat cutting tool. Here are the only ways that I know of to treat the ends: https://www.theribbonretreat.com/custom/modules/FreeProjects/PDFSealingRibbonEnds.pdf
The fray check is all I have ever used and I haven't had a problem with it being that much darker or shinier. Quick question...what type of ribbon did you use on the shoes: satin, grossgrain, etc?

HI -

lets see - the ribbon was sulivans usa ribbon - polyester? and the fray stuff was Aleenes Stop Fraying - which looks like craft glue,,,,,,,,I might try the heat method - i work in a wheelchair clinic at work, and we heat the ends of webbing for belts and straps all the time to keep it from fraying - i'll have to practice though!! lol!! i can just see it now!! flaming flip flops!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

i ordered some corker ribbon on ebay to play with - if i can do it, maybe i'll make some of my own!!!! what do you all use to "mount" your hair ribbons on? i was thinking i could just buy something at the dollar store and pull its decoration off and put the new one on - i love the dollar tree!!!!

thanks so much!!

Wow! So much nice stuff posted since last night! These pages are flying by! I love it all! Great job guys!

To whomever thinks she would need $1000 for the outfit (sorry, didn't take notice of the name, just read about 5 pages again in one sitting) and time spent on them, that is how I feel! I usually only sell what I have made for my son after he has outgrown. I have made one outfit (overalls, sorry don't do any girlie things that the questions are all about) to sell, but it didn't even sell. And I know why, it didn't take days and days like my usual ones!

Hey! I'm only a few minutes away and I have a cute 9 month old girl I love to dress ;)

Cute! My DS wore jon jon's all the time when he was little.

I'm sure most of you know this but.... When making bows, if you don't want to sew a button to the middle of your bow,you can buy shank buttons and clip off the shank with wire cutters or a shank clipper. After this, use E6000 to glue the now shankless button to the bow. This is a cheaper alternative to the flat resins made for this purpose.
Here's a link to sealing ribbon ends:

That's my dream job! I'm heading back to nursing school as soon as my little one is in school. I definitely want to work L&D or mom and baby.

I'm glad you found great fabric. I just got home from Hancock's and their selection is so disappointing. I guess I'll have to start ordering online. I did pick up some of the Minnie dot, though.

She's beautiful!
Ebay has great fabrics. If you do an internet search, you can find oodles of beautiful fabrics. It's kept me on the net most of the day! I've bookmarked about 75!
