It's funny that you posted this. I have a Bernina Artista 180 that I bought several years ago. Today I called about lessons to use the machine. I've never even opened the embroidery package that came with it. Howeve, after seeing all of the precious outfits here,I want to start using the embroidery features on the machine. The embroidery is great for baby outfits and gifts. I had an old Janome embroidery machine that I used to make tons of both wedding and baby gifts. My Bernina will take images from the internet and digitize them to embroider. If the embroidery features work as well as the straight sewing does,I'll be a very happy camper.
To answer your question,I'd get a machine that does both.
A machine that does both makes sense for me. I wouldn't be doing large volumes of sewing/embroidery at the same time, so I wouldn't need to be working on one while the other is going. I haven't really researched the dual machines, so I'll check that out soon. I am about to start a large sewing/decorating project for DD's room so if I'm going to get a new machine I want to do it soon. Once I finish that, I'm going to try some bloomer sets, dresses and bubbles, so I want a machine that makes buttonholes easy!
We don't have a Disney tripped planned for at least 1-2 years, so I can't contribute to the Disney boutique clothes yet (just taking lots of notes and stocking up on fabric!), but I love all of the outfits being posted and I appreciate all of the tips and advice everyone is giving.
Aren't you in La?
