Oh my goodness! It's gorgeous! Did you do the painted jeans too?
I love how you added the petal skirt to the tink shirt.

I did not pain tthe jeans. They are from the Disney store a year or two back. There were once sparkles going down the leg around Tink. I am going to add some bling there since it has since worn off.

This is my new favorite too! :) You did a great job. Your adorable DD looks like it is her new fav as well.
Did you use a YCMT pattern for the petal part of the skirt? It really makes the dress unique. I may have to make similar version for Katie or our upcoming trip.

Thanks! The petal skirt is a butterick pattern 6660. It is meant to be a tutu - I just gathered it after I sewed the pieces together and attatched it to the skirt. I thiught the petals were going to be a PITB, but they were very easy!

An FYI - The Tink pillowcase was from KMART. I looked at the Walmart Tink pillowcase, but I thought Tink was too big to fit on the bodice. I'm glad I skipped it because I like the Kmart on so much better. And I didn't have to line this one because of the solid background.

I am behind on the this thread! I had a nice multi quote going last night, then lost it. So, I apologize, I am not ignoring anyone, I just need to get caught back up!

I have been working on Lydia's Giselle dress, and finished it enough to show pictures! I need a flower and a ribbon for the front yet.

As always, too many pictures......

When I showed Arminda and Lydia, they actually gasped! You gotta love that kind of reaction!!! And, even Corey said, "WOW!" and told Lydia she had to try it on so he could see it!
IT.....IS...... GORGEOUS!!!!!!!

Look how pretty my little bitty Lyddy looks!!!! I love it, I love it, I love it!!! Tessa's mouth dropped open in awe when she first saw this dress! When are you going to start on Tessa's? ;)

I bought some fabric at Hancock's on Tuesday and I washed & dried it yesterday. I went to iron it today so that I could start sewing an outfit and I noticed that apparently the black from the dogs/dots bled. It put black spots all over the fabric.

The color on this pic is bad but it was the only way that I could get the black spots to show up. The fabric is super white with the black scottie dog & black polka dots.
th_scottydog1.jpg

Has anyone ever had this happen? I washed it exactly how it said to and this happened. Will Hancock refund my money? The material wasn't on sale, there were no coupons and it was $6.99 a yard -- I bought 2 yards. I never buy fabric without a sale or coupon.

I am soooooo upset about this b/c I saw the fabric on Sunday (it was brand new) and didn't buy it b/c I wanted to wait for a coupon. I couldn't get the material out of my head (even dreaming about it) and I had my outfit all thought out. My dreams are crushed!

Will Hancock's refund my money?

How dissapointing/frustrating/maddening!! I don't have an answer for you, but I was wondering the same thing today. I washed some sparkly fabric and most of the sparkly came out. I was NOT happy! Will they refund your money if something like this happens? I hope someone already answered your question, I haven't got to the end of the thread yet.

One of the people who passed away has been identified as a WDW worker. He was on his way to work at AK for his 6 am shift. He was recently married. The other 3 have not been identified. I-4 still has not fully reopened. They had to repave as the fire burned the actual road.

Please pray for these families.

Oh No. That's so awful. I just read the news stories and I'm crying for those poor people. What a terrible tragedy. Remember to pray for the workers that tried to save these people and weren't able to save them all.

I thought the same thing about the pillowcase at Walmart, I have looked at it twice and just think it is going to be too big. Has anyone used it succesfully for a bodice?

What a great idea to add the petals to the jumper! How cute!

Have you all seen the guitarist at Animal Kingdom who sings songs about your kids....He's our favorite....here's a short video...sorry it's blurry...it was taken with my camera....Alexis hid behind my leg the whole time...LOL

I love this video! Ireland looks so cute, dancing around. I thought your voice sounded like Teresa!

You ladies sure rack up the posts in this thread. It's hard to keep up. It was my daughters bday today and I made her a first birthday hat. With the disney font of course. :thumbsup2 But I can't find my camera cord now. bleh! I'm somewhat disappointed too. I got a 40% off postcard in the mail today and I got all excited thinking that we could take a christmas trip. Get everything all planned out and dh says he doesn't wanna. GRRRR! I've got time to change his mind though. :rotfl2:
Try living with a guy who NEVER wants to go to WDW! My DH is a Disney-hater. I am dragging him on a 2 week trip in May, though. MUWAHAHAHAHA!!

Thanks for the compliments. I am afraid it looks more homemade than custom, but my girl loves it, and that is all that counts! It was an adult small skirt for 2.99 and an adult sized xs tee for 1.99 at the Disney outlet in Delaware. It was so cheap I felt comfortable cutting it up! I have never done that before. When I saw it, I just knew we had to go to O'Hanna's for breakfast. I booked it like 6 weeks ago, but only did the outfit yesterday. We leave the 30th. Time and money is running out quickly!

A Disney outlet!! Oh, I am SOOOO jealous!!!

Oh you are busy! I hope you get everything done. If I ever talk to much about Megan, ya'll just tell me to shut up. I could talk about that kid all day!
Never! I love to hear about Megan. I also assume you all love to hear about Tessa and Sawyer! ;)

I thought the same thing about the pillowcase at Walmart, I have looked at it twice and just think it is going to be too big. Has anyone used it succesfully for a bodice?

I bought one of the WalMart Ariel pillowcases. Ariel is pretty huge on it. So, I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it yet. I also noticed that her arm has a black spot on it. I washed the pillowcase and it's still there. I would take it back, but Tessa is in love with it!

I wanted to add this picture of Lydia because it was my favorite:

Then, I saw this picture of Lydia and Tessa when they were about 1 1/2! I had to share.

I don't have the pattern from YCMT but I did make a double layer twirl skirt myself.
Here is what I did:
If you have a ruffler foot, I ruffled the two tiers together. If you don't have a ruffler foot I would do them separately just because I would be afraid the thread might break but I'm not sure. I gather them when they are a circle.

Once the tiers are ruffled just sew the yoke on, you don't need to gather the yoke. So the 2 tiers will be right side/wrong side together and then the yoke will be right side/right side with the tiers. When you put in the elastic waist band it will gather itself.

If you are putting ruffles on the bottom of the tiers I would do that before you gather the top of the tiers.

Hopefully someone will answer you that has the YCMT pattern. If I can help you anymore just send me a PM.

I'm not sure what pattern you are using, but this is how I do it. I sew the seams on all 3 pieces of fabric so you have 3 circles. Then I hem the bottom skirt pieces (or put a ruffle on). Then, on the top of the 2 bottom skirt pieces, run your gathering stitches and gather each piece seperately. Then I pin the top layer of the bottom tier to the yoke piece and baste it on close to the edge. Then I pin the under layer on top of that and stitch the 3 layers together. Then I put the casing in the yoke, then the elastic. Hope that makes sense. Basting the top layer before attatching the under layer seems to help everything stay in line when stitching it all together.

Thanks so much to both of you. I finished my skirt last night. I sort of made up my own pattern - using your tips - and the ycmt pattern. I just couldn't make sense out of that one.

Now I'd like to make a corrdinating t-shirt with an applique. Is there a good website to get patterns? I'm hoping for a crown. Thanks again. :goodvibes

NOW I really want to decoupage a pair of canvas high tops. Do we have a tutorial? Do we have a link? Does anyone have any experience doing this? I also need some ideas!!!! I want them for our trip. So probably something Minnie and Mickey.

There are some tutorials in the bookmarks. I believe I stuck them under the shoe section.

YCMT has one too, but honestly, I really think it's a waist of money. Basically, all they tell you is to buy the modpodge for fabrics and stick fabric on the shoes! Like you couldn't figure that out on your own!

Oh you are busy! I hope you get everything done. If I ever talk to much about Megan, ya'll just tell me to shut up. I could talk about that kid all day!

Let's just say that if you ever decided to write a blog about all the things Megan says and does, I would be checking it out every day, possibly several times a day! She is just so adorable! So please, share away!

I find it so neat how each person puts their own spin on the same item. Case in point, the princess/Tink pillowcases. Same Tink pillowcase but very different dresses.

I bought this skirt in a child's size for DD and she wore it to Ohana's for Breakfast in Sept. I also used an iron-on for the top - Lilo loved it.

I know, me too! I just love all the creativness that goes on on this board!!! You just never know what someone is going to make next! I love both of these Tink outfits!

I REALLY REALLY want one of those skirts! They are just fantastic!

It only took a 1 1/2 of the teal for Lydia's dress, and 2 yards of chiffon, and not much of the satin. (I'm telling her because Heather sent an email asking how many yards it took, and I'm being lazy and answering here instead of opening a new window and typing a message!) I got all teared up reading you talk about Lydia! You are such a great aunt!!!

UHH! The sparkle came off???? That is so wrong! They better take it back.

Oh No. That's so awful. I just read the news stories and I'm crying for those poor people. What a terrible tragedy. Remember to pray for the workers that tried to save these people and weren't able to save them all.

You are right about the poor workers. They were interviewing some of them on TV the other day, and I felt so bad for them talking about the people they couldn't help. I can't even imagine how that would affect them.

I was just thinking yesterday that I wish I had some fabric with lots of different characters on it. Then, you post this fabulous outfit today! I love it! I have never seen those skirts before. The shoes are great, too!
They are great, aren't they!

We have GOT to look for this guy when we go! Apparently, you and I sound a LOT alike! Maybe Lisa is one of our long lost relatives!

Try living with a guy who NEVER wants to go to WDW! My DH is a Disney-hater. I am dragging him on a 2 week trip in May, though. MUWAHAHAHAHA!!
Seriously Heather WHAT were you thinking!!!??? :confused3

You know how Brian likes to pretend that he doesn't really want to go to Florida every year? Well, yesterday he was telling me how the owner of his store has a 5 or 6 year old boy, and they go to Florida every few weeks, and they have NEVER taken him to DISNEY!!! Brian was appalled! He just couldn't believe it!

Never! I love to hear about Megan. I also assume you all love to hear about Tessa and Sawyer! ;)
I know I do!

LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I haven't cut into my pillowcases yet b/c I was afraid of cutting too much of the faces off. Parker is only 3 and her bodice will be tiny. I may have to check the K-Mart pillowcase and see how much smaller the faces are. Thanks.

I also have that Butterick Pattern for the petals, so I hope to CASE this outfit!!

Just wanted to say I have not been on the board for a few days. It has been super busy here with life and the place that shall not be mentioned!
I am going to catch up now.

Lori

I just read about the decoupage shoes. Here is my next question...think I can do it with fabric? I might have to just stick with the paint pens...that is okay too!

Heather...just for you -- I now have a real avatar!!

I love it!!

I was just reading it too, I would think you could use fabric for it. They make modpodge just for fabric, so you could use that. I would think it would be pretty easy to do.

A full shot so you can see the whole bodice...

That is AWESOME!!! OMG - if Madison sees this, she will want one!!! I might have to get out to Kmart and find one of those pillowcases!!!

Hi Everyone,

Ok - update on the baby - yes, he is out of the hospital, he was born the 26th and then put into foster care here in philly - so Im sure he was checked out there, and then possiby 1 more time by the foster families doc? My SIL is going to get an appt for a pediatrician up here since they cant go back home for another week (had to stay with in so many miles for 10 days or something). I did speak with the Developmental Pediatrician at duPont today, and she recommended seeing the ped right away, unless he was jittery, not eating or extremely irratable - and then calling the hospital he was born at and seeing the neonatologist. she recommended calling a pediatrician who has experience with high risk babies (due to prematurity and drug exposure) for as soon as they get home, and also calling the birth to 3 program in their area to get a baseline check up since he is so young, sometimes it it more wait and see to see what issues, if any that the little guy would have. That makes good sense to me, you guys? Any tips for me to pass on to my SIL?

Heather Sue - LOVE the peter pan outfit!!! Sooo cute!!! Maybe you girls should get your hair "pixied" some day in the MK. I did it for new years eve and had a ball with it!! They were doing lots of people's hair - old and young, girls and boys in the barber shop!! It was a blast!!! Also, my cousin used a sitnstand stroller, and it was GREAT!! the older kiddo could jump on/off so easily if she got tired. Cant wait to see how you customize it!!

Thanks Everyone!!
Wendy:)

is this a done deal. Can the mom still change her mind or is this baby part of their forever family?
Lori

Okay, the outfit posted by CampingGris, well I have that actual skirt in a size small(4-6) child's size! It is brand new with the tags hanging on it! My daughter never got to wear it because she is really tall for her age and I just didn't like how short it was on her! If any one is interested, just PM me! Whoever pm's me first, gets it!

Sorry, but the skirt has been taken!!!!!
