Wow I have'nt checked in in a couple days and you guys have been busy :). I love the Tink and Cinderella customs. Just gorgeous ! Just thought I would post a few pictures of Sam going to her very first concert (Hannah Montana/Miley Cyrus of course) She is wearing her Hannah Montana pettiskirt with black footless tights and a Hannah shirt she got as a Xmas present (along with the tickets) from Santa. Needless to sat Santa is THE MAN at our house for the present of Hannah tickets LOL. The pictures are not very good I was using DD21's camera when I should have taken hubby's which is a Nikon and much better, but way more bulky to lug around.

that's so cool that Miley wore a pettiskirt too! I bet your daughter felt like a princess! (or a rock star, whatever floats her boat).
How was the concert?

Love all the new pics!!! I really like the Tink dress, I may have to try one of those, I really like the colors.

I just ordered a ruffler from :wizard: and paid 15 bucks including shipping. I love ruffles and my girls do, too! So, the ruffler was a necessary purchase!:lmao: I am behind in my sewing, though. I have several projects ready to start, and no time to start them! I have been so busy, I need to make my dds their valentine outfits, they both want another twirly skirt, and ............. I am behind!!!!! Oh, well, I have some good ideas, and just need to get started.

Anyone make any new valentine's outfits lately? Any good fabric? I haven't really seen any that hits my eye.

Hi Everyone,

Thanks so much to those who were praying for my BIL and his wife. They were able to pick up the baby yesterday. They found out that he was a preemie, and he only weighs about 4lbs. They have to stay in the Philly area for 10 more days before they can take him home. Do you all think they should get him checked out right away? He does have a history of drug exposure - and they have no idea if a preemie takes any special care - this is ringing bells with me that he should at the least be seen by a pediatrician, but do you think I should ask one of the developmental pediatricians I know at the hospital to take a peek at him? or is this too much????? advice would be GREAT!!!

Thanks, Wendy

I would want to get the baby checked out ASAP. The sooner they know of any issues, the sooner they can begin to work to overcome them. Even without drug exposure, a preemie has possible difficulties to deal with. I would want a pediatrician on board right away to know what the current baseline is so that they are able to monitor progress or lack of progress accurately. But that's just me.

Ok, I'm excited! I haven't been creating Disney designs because we don't have a trip planned for probably a year from now. But my DH just bought tickets for me to take our DD to see the Doodlebops next month! SO! I've get to come up with a fresh custom! WOO HOO!

Where have you been? I was wondering if you would post again! Glad to see you!

I have been spending alot of time with the girls the last two weeks. I only have a few pic of the girls in their overalls at dland on xmas day. Our camera wasn't working right. I am goint to take them again for our final vacation trip at the end of the month our passes expire on the 28. And i refuse to buy passes again until the twins are old enough to go on all the rides. so it will be awhile. Thanks for missing me. How have you been?

I am a bit confused. Of course you should have the baby looked at by your own professional....is the baby released from the hospital? I can't imagine yes but I am sure that would always be a smart thing to do. I hope all goes well...you are all in my prayers!

sorry double post

Oh the Dis is running a two-for-one special....you get twice the post count....yaaaaa:banana:

Can someone please help me with the basics of a twirl skirt? I've sewn for a few years (always with with patterns), but I just can't make sense of the twirl skirt instructions that I purchased from ycmt. I am trying to make a 2 layer skirt + the yoke/waistband (3 different fabrics). I cut out 2 strips of each of the two tiers and 1 strip of the waistband. I sewed the side seams of the 1st tier - so now I have a circle. I was planning to do the same for the bottom tier - but then I couldn't see what to do after that. When do I gather the skirt? Do you gather each tier separately or just the waistband. And how do I attach the two tiers together? Help!! I'm trying to make this skirt for my niece's princess birthday party this saturday. I can't believe that I can't make sense of the instructions! :headache: TIA!

There was a 50 car pileup this morning 10 miles south of Disney. (Polk county-many Disney Cast members live in this area) They have confirmed 3 deaths. 20 semi's were involved. Right now they have atleast 4 people trapped in cars. Please pray for those trapped and the crews just getting to these people. They have gotten 9 people to the hospital 7 are serious. They are showing live shots of the scene and I can't even discribe it.

I don't have the pattern from YCMT but I did make a double layer twirl skirt myself.
Here is what I did:
If you have a ruffler foot, I ruffled the two tiers together. If you don't have a ruffler foot I would do them separately just because I would be afraid the thread might break but I'm not sure. I gather them when they are a circle.

Once the tiers are ruffled just sew the yoke on, you don't need to gather the yoke. So the 2 tiers will be right side/wrong side together and then the yoke will be right side/right side with the tiers. When you put in the elastic waist band it will gather itself.

If you are putting ruffles on the bottom of the tiers I would do that before you gather the top of the tiers.

Hopefully someone will answer you that has the YCMT pattern. If I can help you anymore just send me a PM.

I'm not sure what pattern you are using, but this is how I do it. I sew the seams on all 3 pieces of fabric so you have 3 circles. Then I hem the bottom skirt pieces (or put a ruffle on). Then, on the top of the 2 bottom skirt pieces, run your gathering stitches and gather each piece seperately. Then I pin the top layer of the bottom tier to the yoke piece and baste it on close to the edge. Then I pin the under layer on top of that and stitch the 3 layers together. Then I put the casing in the yoke, then the elastic. Hope that makes sense. Basting the top layer before attatching the under layer seems to help everything stay in line when stitching it all together.

At least with all these double and triple posts, I'm not as far behind in my reading as I thought I was!

Oh, how horrible. I'll be praying for everyone involved.

We took a little trip to Mishawaka yesterday, and went to the Disney Store :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: They were having 40% off their clearance prices, so I picked up a few things.

Waaaaaaaaaay too many pictures coming your way......

I fell in love with this Aurora dress when I saw it a few months ago. At that time, the saleslady (or do they still call them CMs?) told me she thought it was ugly! Funny, I didn't see her there yesterday! I loved it, and was very excited to see it on clearance! I also picked up the tights, and the crown and wand. I origianlly wanted that crown for myself, because Heather is getting one, I thought it would be cute if we both had crowns at Disney World! Lydia said I could borrow it though. ;)

And, just because I think she is so cute!

What a great dress. And you are so right - she is cute!

For those of you looking, K Mart also carries the princess pillowcases. For various reasons, I prefer not to shop at Wally World so I was thrilled to see the pillowcases at K Mart as well.

DD has been showing a preference for Tinkerbell lately, she has the princess dress-up trunk and she likes to wear the Tink skirt and wings all the time. Here is what I made with the Tink Pillowcase.

I can't tell you how much the appliqué presser foot helped with the letters and Tink's face. I did not outline her eyes but I did do her nose, lips and hair. I am proud of how well it came out. I love the bright colors in it. I forgot to take a picture but I added an iron-on sequin star to the back of the bodice.

2 MORE WEEKS TO GO!

LOVE the Tink dress. The colors are great. I have to get on the pillowcase bandwagon.
