Don't feel bad, I did that too a time or two when I first started doing applique. I'm very aware now to have the iron on the right setting and don't leave it in place for long when I iron before I'm ready to fuse it to the base fabric/garment. I still find that sometimes it just doesn't want to stick to denim in some areas. I've also noticed that certain fabric I use for the applique is more prone to not sticking than others. I figure as long as it holds long enough to get the stitching is complete, it's done it's job. LOL

So, speaking of applique... here's a little proof that I really was busy when I wasn't posting here for so long. LOL

I really need to get some pics of Zoe to share soon, too. ;-)

I have two things to say: :worship: :worship: :worship: and

Stupid question. My DD is 2. I have not yet gotten my new machine yet but when I see a fabric I like how much do I get, if I don't have a pattern yet. I'm going to start off with PJ's first. I also have a DS8 and DS6 how much would I get for them too, just bottoms for the boys. TIA

Laura

Can I come back even if it will take a while for me to post any more pics? I am sorry I just dropped off, but things are very busy here with home schooling, boy scouts, dance 2x a week, cheer 2x a week, caravan, and teaching tot town at church. Today swimming starts back up.

I feel so bad that have not even finished all the Christmas outfits I planned. I have not had time to sew anything since the start of December it seems.

I know some of the activities my dc are in needs to be dropped. I am just waiting to see which ones they choose to drop. At least puppet team and children's choir is taking a break for a couple of months.

I will try to keep up reading posts even if I end up lurking more than posting. I am sorry that I have not even been able to read the messages since my last post.

Sure thing you're welcome here anytime! I haven't even caught up since we got back from our trip. I'm not even going to try. I just glance through here and see what catches my eye! I didn't get my Christmas outfits finished either, so don't feel bad.

Which Sleeping Beauty pattern did you use that was such a PITB? I have two different ones, and I don't want to dive into the wrong nightmare!

I hear you.. I bought christmas fabric and never even touched it.. I can always start for next christmas lol

Congratulations! Can't wait to see the customs you make for her! :cheer2:

Guess what just arrived! My new embroidery machine! WOO HOO!
I can't wait to get it out and play!

Yay! My mother loves hers, so I am sure it will be lots of fun to play with!

The other day, Lydia insisted on wearing a Dora leotard and leopard print shoes all over town, with a pink sweater and a purple fur shawl over top. Personally, I thought she looked adorable! She doesn't even take dance class, but she sure would love to!

I am quite sure she was adorable, too! Let's hear it for the girls who have their own fashion sense!

ok I have been busy sewing doll clothes (I am not sure I will be able to make DD sized clothes anymore LOL).

Um Cindee, where are the photos of all these doll clothes? Please put them on the doll and take pictures of the doll, preferably in the JoJo pose. No one will think you are weird at all!

Love them! I saw St. Patrick's Day fabric at JoAnn's and thought: whoa! Slow down please! The doggie fabric is just adorable!

Love them all (especially Lumpy)! You have been busy! You holding up ok?

Nicholas looks so adorable, I'm glad you're going to keep him (isn't that what you said in a previous post?)! He looks so cute in the jon jons.

Oh, I explained this wrong! The mother didn't think my daughter should be in time-out, her little girl did. The mother was just telling me that her daughter was jealous of Grace's clothes and that it was a new stage for her to be going through, the mother wasn't upset at all about it! I'm sorry if I explained it wrong! I definitely see how you got that from what I said! I just worry about other kids not wanting to be with Grace because of something like that. Grace is usually well behaved, well dressed and I don't want other kids to pick on her for being the "teacher's pet". I do get the impression from the teacher's aide that she definitely favors Grace so i do worry about that.

Ohhhhhh ok, sorry I didn't get it the first time around. That mom should be offering to pay you to make something for her daughter so she won't be so jealous of Grace!

Very cute and how resourceful of you to use a small dress. It looks great!

Love the Nutcracker pics. I love going and seeing all the little girls dressed up. It's so neat your girls are growing up appreciating the ballet!

Cute! Very good find!

That Nana is the best! She looks so happy and beautiful!

There she is! Thanks for posting a picture of her in her Christmas custom. She looks so sweet!

Welcome back! I didn't finish all my Christmas customs either. Next year we will have to plan better and start earlier!

Heather! For some reason it dropped the pictures of Tessa! That dress is so great, I love how it brings out the blue in her beautiful eyes! Megan thought the picture of her holding the book was the best one, but I like the last one because her face is just so pretty!

I get two yards for pj pants for my 8 year old. HTH!

Theresajoy- my DD just turned 6 in August. She just starting like punk style clothes. I think that comes from her dad. Her favorite store to shop is Hot Topic in the mall.

Disneymommieof2- We will be in WDW May 17th to the 23rd. Mostly in the MK because that is DD's favorite.

It's odd that my little punky bruster child likes princesses too!?!?

I have to repair a pair of pants that I made her but once I do I will post a pic of her total punk outfit. We can't go into Hot Topic without her getting compliments from the employees.

So, speaking of applique... here's a little proof that I really was busy when I wasn't posting here for so long. LOL

I LOVE the Winnie the Pooh set! What great work!

BTW - thanks for all the congrats on my new little one. We sure are enjoying her and I can't wait to start making her custom clothes. Now to convince DH that we need a WDW trip Dec 2009 for her 2nd birthday.

Did you use a pattern for those- I want to make some of those for dd for this summer. I bet they we pretty easy to "whip up" too!!

They were about an hour total for each and that is pretty good. It was a mccalls pattern I used. Have to find the # for ya.

Go to the simplicity patterns website and look up the patterns. it will tell you how much you need on the back of the pattern on there website. I would say an approx of 1 /12 - 2 yards maybe, but don't quote me on that.

Ack! You're right Lori. I think I originally wrote 1 yard. I checked the pattern and it's two yards for kid pj bottoms. Sorry!

All right, I don't feel like such a bad mommy because I found a couple photos of Zoe from Christmas. I had to scan the first one but it shows her in the Christmas set I made. I'd planned to do a more elaborate applique on the shirt but she nixed that idea when I mentioned it. We compromised with this simpler design. The "pettiskirt" is the one she wore for Halloween. I couldn't resist getting another use from it since the color worked well with the Christmas prints. LOL The tights weren't my first choice but I totally forgot about accessories until too late.

Beautiful - and Zoe's smile is priceless!

This about made me cry! Just precious! What a memory!

Absolutely! Welcome back! This thread is just a hobby - just enjoy it when you can. No stress. If it stresses you out, you may not do it, right? Well that wouldn't be good. I think we all go through times where we get little done. I know there have been times when I couldn't read, I just skimmed the pages to pick up the outfits. That's ok. Glad to see you back!

Here is the Minnie Dot Apron Dress. We leave in 20 days!

Now all I have to do is "Disney-fy" 6 sweatshirts, imagine up one more princess custom, make a few decorated T's, pack, make sure the inlaws pack, etc.

Can I be in the "married my HS sweetheart" club even if I divorced the a$$ 14 yrs ago?! :lmao:

Heather, I need to make a dress just like her blue one. Any ideas?

Sorry, but dh has rubbed off on me and I keep snickering about the "pooh".
Yes, you can still be in the club! :rotfl2:

I couldn't find a ready-made pattern that would work for Belle, so I just did Belle-ish! Let me know if you find a pattern with the right kind of collar for the shirt!

HeatherSue-

LOVE the Belle! It is really cute. I have a Belle on the schedule too. :)
Then I have the worlds coolest Alice in Wonderland custom planned. I came up with the idea about 6 months ago. I cannot wait but I have adopted a friends rule of never starting a new project until the current one is done! It works.

Thank you about the Belle outfit! I can't wait to see the world's coolest Alice In Wonderland cutom! I was just hit with inspiration for a Mary Poppins outfit. Isn't it exciting when you get a new idea?

Love the pics! What a nice looking family you have! I love the girl's customs, too!

Sawyer would love these Mickey jammies! Too cute!

Me too!!! I married my high school sweetheart, and we have been together since I was 15. I am 33 now, so it has been a while!!!!
We're practically the same person, then! :rotfl2: I'm 33, too! How old were you when you got married? We were 19.

There now NOBODY else can be me!! As if they ever could;)
Yay! I love your new avatar!

Is this the picture?
Hey, you changed your avatar too!

OK, for all that wanted to know how the embroidery machine is - well the report from DAY 1 is, I don't love it yet! It's set up. The first stitch was very bad. I finally figured out how I was threading a specific portion incorrectly. I fixed that. The second stitch out didn't stitch in the area that I thought it was going to, so I didn't have the fabric there. UGH! Now something else is going on with it, and I've given up for the evening. I'll try again tomorrow. I'll let you all know how it goes. I knew that it would be a "plug & play" machine. We'll see how long it takes me to round the learning curve!
This is why I don't have an embroidery machine. As I'm always telling my nephew when he tries to explain some new technical thing to me- "My brain is full, I can't learn anything else!"

Sawyer keeps pointing at your DD and saying "Oh, Wow!" I'd say she's made quite an impression with him!

She is such a pretty girl! I love her Christmas custom! What a bunch of gorgeous children in that 2nd picture!!

Absolutely adorable!!! How cool that she got "touched" by the characters!

What a cute idea!

I hadn't sewn anything in a month and it was killing me. I had a few outfits in mind, but needed fabric and I haven't been able to go to the store. So, I just decided to make something with the fabric I already had. So, here's a Belle-ish outfit I just whipped up in a matter of minutes (okay, over the course of 1.5 days). I used the YCMT portrait peasant dress pattern and modified it for a shirt. Then, I made my own pattern for the jumper and apron.

The book was her idea and I think it was a good one!:

Okay, now I need to catch up on the last day and a half.
This pose is adorable! I love this photo.
WOW!!

I'm usually just lurking here, but I do try to keep up with all the posts. Well after being gone for a week, I'm finally caught up. Y'all have posted some great outfits!! I love all the Cinderella variations.

Here's why I've been away... and the reason I have been stocking up on Disney fabric since finding this board... my little princess is a week old today!

Congratulations on your little princess! What a cutie!:cutie:

They are all gorgeous! But these two are my favorites.
Here is an apron that I made for DD. This is for her to wear to Epcot when we go in May.

Hopefully the link will work.

That's so cute!
DD 21 finally uploaded her Christmas pictures . So now I can finally post the ones from 12/22 when we took Sam and Kiley to see "The Nutcracker". DD21 and her Dfiance also joined us.

100_3063.jpg

On the steps inside the Lyric Opera House. The bear she's holding was her birthday gift named Hannah Beartana. She also finagled a Hannah Montana outfit, and pajamas, red glitter shoes, Sketchers sneakers, slippers and a purse for Hannah B. out of Mommy and Daddy

100_3074.jpg

She really loved "The Nutcracker" she saw that "Sleeping Beauty" is going to be at "The Lyric" in the Spring and asked if she could go.

Great Photos, what is on the bodice of your younger daughters dress? They are adorable!
I know these aren't custom done....:rotfl: But I found these cute PJ sets at Kohls tonight. I have been watching for cute disney jammies to take on our trip and I loved these!! It's a 3 piece set with shirt, shorts and pants. My boys went nuts when I showed them!

Anyway, just thought I would share!
