I don't want anyone to think I'm fishing for compliments, but there were 2 or 3posts where someone had multi-quoted Tessa's picture and then didn't mention it in the post. Is this another server glitch?

I love the name of the that first picture :lmao: And the last picture is so cute
Thank you!! I forgot to tell you that Tessa saw the picture of you in your Belle dress and she said with awe in her voice "Is that the real Belle?"

Heather- I tried to click on your how you met henry story but the link didn't work... So I clicked on the more about me link and found it there- the names are flipped it should be henrymetheather. And what a cute story- don't remember if I had read it before, I think I have, it sounded familiar, well anyway it was very sweet story. Oh and when I read my post above it sounded to me like I was saying that I only liked the 2 pictures I mentioned but they are all really cute- the reading one is still my fav though!!

Thanks for going through all that trouble to read the story! I realized I typed it in wrong when I clicked it this morning! My website got me in trouble when my best friend Jenny was here. She looked at it and said "If I'm your bestest friend in the whole wide world, why isn't there anything about me on your website?" So, I'll have to have a "Jenny" link now. I want to clarify that she is my bestest FRIEND. My sister, my mom, and Henry are in a different, higher, category.

I am soooo far behind now that I am back to work! But I did have to say that this is just fabulous!!!!!! I love the colors and the "model" looks positively radiant....just like Belle herself! :yay:
Thank you so much!!!

Stupid question. My DD is 2. I have not yet gotten my new machine yet but when I see a fabric I like how much do I get, if I don't have a pattern yet. I'm going to start off with PJ's first. I also have a DS8 and DS6 how much would I get for them too, just bottoms for the boys. TIA

Laura
I'd say 1 yard for the 2 year old's pants and 1.5-2 yards for the older kids. If you just see fabric that you love and you don't know what you're going to do with it yet, I'd grab at least 3 yards.

Can I come back even if it will take a while for me to post any more pics? I am sorry I just dropped off, but things are very busy here with home schooling, boy scouts, dance 2x a week, cheer 2x a week, caravan, and teaching tot town at church. Today swimming starts back up.

I feel so bad that have not even finished all the Christmas outfits I planned. I have not had time to sew anything since the start of December it seems.

I know some of the activities my dc are in needs to be dropped. I am just waiting to see which ones they choose to drop. At least puppet team and children's choir is taking a break for a couple of months.

I will try to keep up reading posts even if I end up lurking more than posting. I am sorry that I have not even been able to read the messages since my last post.
You're always welcome here!

Um Cindee, where are the photos of all these doll clothes? Please put them on the doll and take pictures of the doll, preferably in the JoJo pose. No one will think you are weird at all!

Heather! For some reason it dropped the pictures of Tessa! That dress is so great, I love how it brings out the blue in her beautiful eyes! Megan thought the picture of her holding the book was the best one, but I like the last one because her face is just so pretty!
Ummm....no, no one will think you're weird at all.....:rolleyes1

Thank you for the compliments! Tessa is excited that Megan was looking at her picture.

About the Minnie dot...I sent it out on Wednesday and it came back yesterday for insufficient postage. This is the 2nd time this has happened lately, I think they're weighting their scales down at the post office. ;) I'm so sorry, it's in the mailbox again today awaiting the mail lady.

Now all I have to do is "Disney-fy" 6 sweatshirts, imagine up one more princess custom, make a few decorated T's, pack, make sure the inlaws pack, etc.

It sounds like you have practically nothing to do before your trip! :lmao:
I love this Minnie dot outfit! Gotta love the ruffle butt!

I haven't posted in a few days, I don't want to leave anyone out. Lori, Your kids are adorable. That Nicholas is toooooo cute! Thanks for posting all your trip pictures. I love that HSM outfit!

Tom, I loved the Storybook dress.
Spongie, I love your new fabric. I bought some fleece that looks like the top dog print. I made my schnauzer a little bed for his crate.
There now NOBODY else can be me!! As if they ever could;)
Love the new avatar!

Gorgeous Dress! Nana does great stuff and she is helpful too!
All right, I don't feel like such a bad mommy because I found a couple photos of Zoe from Christmas. I had to scan the first one but it shows her in the Christmas set I made. I'd planned to do a more elaborate applique on the shirt but she nixed that idea when I mentioned it. We compromised with this simpler design. The "pettiskirt" is the one she wore for Halloween. I couldn't resist getting another use from it since the color worked well with the Christmas prints. LOL The tights weren't my first choice but I totally forgot about accessories until too late.

th_zoe_and_santa.jpg

Although Zoe is in a set I made her in this photo, it's not seen at all but I thought this was a cute photo of her with her 2 cousins (my great-nephews) on Christmas day.

Great Pictures! I love her set with Santa.

Nanas Custom Creations again worked her magic with this darling swashbuckling pirate mouse Maddi is modeling, every character on the parade route touched our lil pirate mate. Thanx for your wearable art.:cheer2:
Adorable little girl! Thanks for sharing your pictures.
How's this for Disney Customs. These were posted on another site. These pics were taken in DL.

1) :snooty:
2) Oh, Megan thought Tessa is beautiful (smart kid). I tried to explain that the fabric was Pooh toile and she was having none of it. That's Belle, silly! she said.
3) No worried about the Minnie dot. Thank you so much!

I am near tears fighting with the ruffler foot. I am trying to do these super easy nightgowns that Tom finished in an hour and I have had nothing but trouble. I hand gathered the skirt to the t and the thread was breaking and the shirt kept getting crumpled underneath. It looked so bad but if I tried to rip it out the shirt got holes in it. So I just sewed ric rac on top of it to hide it!

So then I got out the ruffler foot for the bottom ruffle and I am doing something terribly wrong because it is not working. It is a crumpler foot in my case! I am hoping it is because the tension was too high but I am not holding out much hope. The directions (from the YCMT site) say to over ruffle and then spread it out but the thread just broke when I tried that. I am really at my wits end. I am taking the kids for a lunchtime playdate so I am hoping when I get back this afternoon I can get it to work or else the other girls might just get pj pants to match their appliquéd shirts!

Very cute outfit! At first I read all that you had to do and thought you said "2 days" I was thinking, there's no way she can pull that off! But then I looked again and realized it was "20" days. WHEW! I think you can do it!

I hadn't sewn anything in a month and it was killing me. I had a few outfits in mind, but needed fabric and I haven't been able to go to the store. So, I just decided to make something with the fabric I already had. So, here's a Belle-ish outfit I just whipped up in a matter of minutes (okay, over the course of 1.5 days). I used the YCMT portrait peasant dress pattern and modified it for a shirt. Then, I made my own pattern for the jumper and apron.

Okay, now I need to catch up on the last day and a half.

I LOVE :lovestruc this! My DD4 is sooo into belle right now. This is tooo cute and Tessa is just beautiful!

OMGoodnesss i am so many pages behind and wanted to post on each and every adorable , cute outfit and precious lil kids... but i would be posting for 3 days .:rotfl:
SO HERE GOES!!!
J/K i just wanted to say i love all the outfits posted and the cute kiddos pictures and xmas memmories shared . Thank you....

i have been maeaning to show off some very cute fabric i got from walmart so here goes

DSCF0952.jpg
I love the fabrics! I looked at these and decided to bring my DD4 and let her pick out what she wanted!

Don't feel bad, I did that too a time or two when I first started doing applique. I'm very aware now to have the iron on the right setting and don't leave it in place for long when I iron before I'm ready to fuse it to the base fabric/garment. I still find that sometimes it just doesn't want to stick to denim in some areas. I've also noticed that certain fabric I use for the applique is more prone to not sticking than others. I figure as long as it holds long enough to get the stitching is complete, it's done it's job. LOL

So, speaking of applique... here's a little proof that I really was busy when I wasn't posting here for so long. LOL

I really need to get some pics of Zoe to share soon, too. ;-)
Lisa, they are all FANTASTIC! This one was my fave however!

just thought I'd share nicholas today. he did not get to wear these in disney, so I got some pics in them today!

He is just too cute! And the outfits are adorable!

I don't understand. Why should your daughter be in time out because other kids are jealous of her? That doesn't make any sense. Parents are so weird.

Megan dressed in play clothes (usually from Target) when she went to preschool because they played outside on the playground every day and did a lot of messy projects. There were some girls who wore dressy clothes and sandals that made me wonder how they ran around outside, but Megan is the type of kid who doesn't care. I can't imagine coming up to a parent and complaining about how their child is dressed, especially that it's too nice!

I do admit that M's kindergarten teacher is a sewer and appreciates the customs I made. She really made me smile when she told me after Thanksgiving she couldn't wait to see what I made her for Christmas! :lovestruc

Oh, I explained this wrong! The mother didn't think my daughter should be in time-out, her little girl did. The mother was just telling me that her daughter was jealous of Grace's clothes and that it was a new stage for her to be going through, the mother wasn't upset at all about it! I'm sorry if I explained it wrong! I definitely see how you got that from what I said! I just worry about other kids not wanting to be with Grace because of something like that. Grace is usually well behaved, well dressed and I don't want other kids to pick on her for being the "teacher's pet". I do get the impression from the teacher's aide that she definitely favors Grace so i do worry about that.[/QUOTE]

I know exactly what you mean! My DD4 is the teachers pet! I actually had the teacher call my house one night to tell me how much she loved her and how special she is! She said "not that all of my kids aren't special, but there is just something about her that makes her extra special!" I didn't know what to say! Since then I have had several of the other mom's be EXTREMELY RUDE to me! I just try to ignore them. But I don't want my DD4 to suffer from this!
Here is an apron that I made for DD. This is for her to wear to Epcot when we go in May.

Hopefully the link will work.

Here's Kirsta at Halloween. I asked her what she was doing, and she looked at me like I was a dummy. She was scrubbing the floor. Duh!! I should have her try it on next time I need the floor cleaned.
That is just tooo cute! She is beautiful

WOW! Nothing special at all!;)

DD 21 finally uploaded her Christmas pictures . So now I can finally post the ones from 12/22 when we took Sam and Kiley to see "The Nutcracker". DD21 and her Dfiance also joined us.

I know these aren't custom done....:rotfl: But I found these cute PJ sets at Kohls tonight. I have been watching for cute disney jammies to take on our trip and I loved these!! It's a 3 piece set with shirt, shorts and pants. My boys went nuts when I showed them!

Anyway, just thought I would share!

Those two are just too cute!

Lisa - as always - GORGEOUS outfits! Your applique skill is unsurpassed!

OK, for all that wanted to know how the embroidery machine is - well the report from DAY 1 is, I don't love it yet! It's set up. The first stitch was very bad. I finally figured out how I was threading a specific portion incorrectly. I fixed that. The second stitch out didn't stitch in the area that I thought it was going to, so I didn't have the fabric there. UGH! Now something else is going on with it, and I've given up for the evening. I'll try again tomorrow. I'll let you all know how it goes. I knew that it would be a "plug & play" machine. We'll see how long it takes me to round the learning curve!

I'm so sorry that your ruffler foot is a crumpler foot!! Did you optimize your ruffler? I went through the steps and have come pretty close to getting my ruffles right after that. But, I haven't been able to over-ruffle and then pull the ruffles out, either. The thread just breaks for me, too. I under-ruffle and then cut off the extra.

Can I come back even if it will take a while for me to post any more pics? I am sorry I just dropped off, but things are very busy here with home schooling, boy scouts, dance 2x a week, cheer 2x a week, caravan, and teaching tot town at church. Today swimming starts back up.
Glad to see you back! Post anytime, don't worry about catching up. Check out the photobucket if you want to see what everyone's been posting!
Theresajoy- my DD just turned 6 in August. She just starting like punk style clothes. I think that comes from her dad. Her favorite store to shop is Hot Topic in the mall.
We will be in WDW May 17th to the 23rd. Mostly in the MK because that is DD's favorite.

It's odd that my little punky bruster child likes princesses too!?!?

I have to repair a pair of pants that I made her but once I do I will post a pic of her total punk outfit. We can't go into Hot Topic without her getting compliments from the employees.

I would love to see her total punk outfit! Too bad we are just going to miss you in Florida!!! We leave on the 17th! Bummer. Is anyone else going to be there for the first two weeks of May???

Here is the Minnie Dot Apron Dress. We leave in 20 days!

I love the rumba butt! This is too cute!

Ha ha I LOVE it! :thumbsup2
Hehe I think it's pretty cute! It was actually his idea, when I told him that all the girls are going to be in ice cream customs for Beaches and Cream, he wanted him and Sawyer to have ice cream shirts. "just a small applique on the pocket or something though." I still have to find a shirt for Heather to applique. Corey only wears button up shirts, usually (well always) plaid. I asked him why he only wears the button up shirts one day and he said, "Button up shirts command respect." He was joking,(sort of) but it was really funny!

She had just gotten back from my Mom's house. She left here with wavy hair, and came home with straight hair. Very odd!

Go to the simplicity patterns website and look up the patterns. it will tell you how much you need on the back of the pattern on there website. I would say an approx of 1 /12 - 2 yards maybe, but don't quote me on that.
Lorii

Thanks I will

I need Ratatouille Help! I just booked Kirsta's Bday party. I usually do this big spread at our church. Last year was Jasmine and I made the kids magic carpets and lots of other stuff. This year we are having the part at the Young Chef's Academy and they'll be making pizza. The kids will be getting chef hats, and I thought we could make some aprons? The site that can't be named, doesn't have fabric. Well they do, but the print is really huge. Just something plain? With an iron on picture? I didn't see the movie, but Kirsta loved it. What is in the movie that can do on the apron? Anyone with some great ideas? Make a girls apron and a boys? Or just go simple and make them all the same?

You sure have been busy!! How did your arms hold up with all that appliqueing??

They didn't have time to get sore. LOL Actually, I think I was keeping my arm muscles too tense as I did applique in the past and ended up straining them that way. I've since started trying to consciously keep them relaxed as much as possible and it really helps.

I wish Leigh would wear skirts and tops, but she tends to wear her skirts under her belly, and they always look lopsided!:upsidedow She does better in longer dresses with no waist line!

So does Zoe. The waist of pants and skirts never stay where they should. I try but they either slip on their own or Zoe pushes them down - I think she believes they're supposed to go under her tummy since that's where they go on their own. LOL I mostly make her dresses with a raised waist or long tops/tunics to be worn with pants. I also try to buy premade tops that are longish to help keep the belly covered. Less full skirts don't seem to be as big a problem, I'm guessing because they don't have the same amount of weight from fabric. They still slip over time. I've considered making her a skirt and then instead of adding a waistband, I'd add it to a simple tank style top over which she could wear a sweater or tee - any kind of top that would look fine untucked. I saw something like that recently at a kid's store. I think it may have been Pumpkin Patch. The dress looked like a pleated plaid skirt with a sweater. I think there was a belt at the waistline but I don't remember for sure.

I usually make my ruffler finish a bit longer than I need and then I pull the bobbin thread on the ruffle stitching to adjust the fullness as needed when I pin it to the other piece. The YCMT tutorial seems to use a different type of ruffler than I have because there are a couple differences in how it does things and how mine works. BTW - Mine is a White Brand foot from JoAnns. Someday I want to try a different (aka more expensive) brand because the things the tutorial showed would be cool to be able to do. For now, though, I'm just glad to have a ruffler foot that works. My newer sewing machine just stopped working with the ruffler foot before Christmas. I panicked but was relieved when my old Kenmore will ruffle with it.

I'd say 1 yard for the 2 year old's pants and 1.5-2 yards for the older kids. If you just see fabric that you love and you don't know what you're going to do with it yet, I'd grab at least 3 yards./QUOTE]

Thanks
