Well, my skirt is just about finished. I am so excited that it all turned out very well. But you will all have to wait until after Christmas to see the pics...s:eek: It'll give you something to look forward to when Christmas is over:rotfl:

Merry Christmas to all and to all a GOOD NIGHT!

You are very welcome. Here is the link to the instructions I used. They call it a man tai (because they used dad friendly fabric. I used pink and brown and it looked great. I will try to get a picture of Katie in hers. She will be three in a few months and I can still comfortably wear her.

http://www.baypathleos.com/mt_instructions.shtml

I think 5-6 yards will be plenty for you. Don’t forget your Joann's coupon :)

I hope your little boys is joining his forever family very soon. We were very lucky with both of our placements.

We had both of them places exactly 17 days from the day we told our agency what we could handle. When we got Katie she was 2 days old and we picked her up from the hospital. I asked for a healthy newborn girl, going straight for adoption with no siblings (we had already adopted a sibling group of 3), health issues or drug addiction. Our caseworker told us "good luck with that". Like I said they called 17 days later and I went and picked her up 30 minutes after the call. It was love at first sight

I should really post my "birth" story. Maybe after Chritmas. I think I talked DH into helping me wrap the rest of the Christmas gifts. I should run while he is willing.

Thanks so much for the link I will bookmark it. We have I hope gotten lucky, one of my buddies from highschool came over to hang out. Started talking and come to find out that she used to work for CPS. Well on top of that she is buddies with a foster to adopt worker which I am sure you know is next to God in the world of CPS. We know it is not what you know it is who you know with CPS and we are praying that she will be able to help us. We also think she may be the worker for the little boy we want not 100% but willing to be she at least knows her which will help us. :). Thinking happy baby thoughts. :cloud9: We want our prince and of course eventually a princess: :D Hoping for a infant as well. I would really really for one like to hear your birth story! I always take pictures the day our little ones come ... in hopes that is a gotcha day if Mom and Dad cannot parent.

You better watch out, you'd better not cry, you'd better not pout I'm telling you why...
:santa: Santa Claus is coming to town!
Merry Christmas Y'all!

Hey ;) Alex's surgery went really well thanks for asking. He is walking around some. Seems to have healed very well and is a ton taller. :) We go for our final check up in Dallas in 2 weeks. Oh and here is the only thing I think I have posted about Alex's surgery on Dis ... Art the greeter at the BC and Bren (Tink901) sent Alex a great get well soon gift! http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=21800362&postcount=171 I have not been to the bow shop is it great? I am going to have a 2 and half year old as of next week so bows will be a must. :cloud9: I need to exchange info with you and you can call me when you are in town. We are about 2 blocks from the lake and the park and loving it over here! Sharman's sends me emails I didn't see the new machine. I do agree you need to get one so I can just send you what I want embroideried and pay you! ;)

The bow shop is very, very cool! I didn't know about it until a few weeks ago when another mom mentioned it. It is a big room with NOTHING but bolts and bolts of ribbon. You go in and cut what you want. If you want, they'll make the bows for you. Because I didn't want to make another trip to pick them up, I just brought the ribbon home to do my own. However, the bows in the shop look great. They also have some custom stuff in the store. Really cute shop!

I'm trying to avoid the Sharman's fllyer. It is very, very tempting. however, I've not done my homework on machines enough yet to feel comfortable spending the money yet. I just keep drooling over everything that seems to be done with one of these machines.

So glad you got it finished! Now I can't wait to see pics!

Also, thanks for the reminder about giving blood. I'm one of those that can't give blood, but I sure do hope that if something ever happens that I or a member of my family needs it, it is available. So, thanks for the reminder!

This has me intrigued. Can you PM me the info on the person you're talking to? I've not had any luck in the past getting someone in this area to return my calls.

As far as the strep throat goes posted earlier, I would def. go back to the doctor. I am a medical social worker, not a nurse, but you should def. be feeling better. Ask your dr. about amoxicillin, has always worked for me. What concerns me the most is that your dr. gave you Vicodin, an extremely addictive painkiller, for a sore throat. I would really question this dr. because that seems like a totally unnecessary med. Hope this helps and you start to feel better soon.

I agree. I have always been told to take some ibuprofen and never given a pain killer for strep. Hope you are feeling better!

Could you guys say a quick prayer or send some good thoughts to a friend's daughter? They are telling her they think she has leukemia. They are doing a bone marrow biopsy to verify. Lindsey is seven years old and has been through her parents' divorce this year. Thank you.

Are you ready for some pictures? We checked in Friday night at the Boardwalk and admired the gingerbread gazebo:

We went over to Epcot where Megan had a major meltdown and I took her back to the room while the boys stayed. She cried the whole way back, "I just wanted to go on Test Track!" I am sure people thought she was quite abused.

The next day we went back to Epcot because she still wanted to go on Test Track. We went on Soarin' twice, Nemo and Friends, saw Turtle Talk with Crush, Journey to Imagination and Test Track. After lunch we went to Club Cool where I convinced Jacob to try Beverly:

100_2087.jpg

We got some comments on our shirts. Some asked where they could buy them (I should have passed out cards!):

100_2091.jpg

We went on the newly revamped Spaceship Earth (in the big Epcot ball) which I thought was neat but DH said was boring.

DH went back to the room for a nap and Megan would not go with him, even though she was tired too:

100_2116.jpg

The kids and I rode the new boat ride in Mexico (still boring) and Norway. Trolls!

100_2117.jpg

We spent the evening at the boardwalk. Tomorrow is the Magic Kingdom!

Sunday we went to the Magic Kingdom. I took Megan to the Barber Shop where they pixied her up. We got Fast Passes to the Buzz ride and went on Goofy's Rollercoaster while we waited. We stopped by to get the obligatory pic at Minnie's house:

100_2118.jpg

After Buzz, DH got fast passes to Big Thunder Mountain while the kids and I rode It's a Small World. Megan sang along to the music the entire time. I thought it was cute, Jacob did not. We ate lunch at the Pinocchio place, where DH witnessed an altercation. They were blocking off the seats that overlook the Small World ride for people with food only. One lady didn't like that and told them she paid for her ticket so she could go anywhere she wanted and they couldn't stop her. They ended up calling security. The whole time her kids were waving through the window at people on the ride. Weirdo!

Then we went on the Haunted Mansion, which has been revamped. It was cool. It was finally time for our Fast Passes so we went on Thunder Mountain (Megan's first time). She loved it and asked to go on Splash Mountain! We got Fast Passes for it and went to the Country Bears (the sound sucked!) and Pirates. The wait was forever so there was much goofing around in line:

100_2127.jpg

We went back to Splash Mountain and when we were getting in Megan announced that she had to go to the bathroom but she was going to try to hold it. Well, we got soaked and Megan was extra soaked. We missed the parade because we had to get Megan a new Tinkerbelle outfit and we went to a performance of Mickey's Twas the Night Before Christmas instead. Really cute!

We walked up to the castle to wait for the lighting ceremony. Megan and I goofed around while the boys went pin shopping:

100_2136.jpg

I wanted to get a picture of the back of her head, it was so cute:

100_2131.jpg

Before the mob got there:

100_2129.jpg

After the castle-lighting we left for home, exhausted! On the way out, Megan said, hey! we didn't get to go on Space Mountain! She was definitely the dare devil this trip!

Did you go to the PBR invitational at MSG (they also go to Foxwoods)? We went, and it was awesome. We're just north of NYC, and boot, hat, and buckle wearers ourselves. :) We get funny looks sometimes. I'll have to see if I still have a pic of DD in her "cowgirl" dress I made her for halloween a few years ago. She ended up only wearing a hat, vest and boots with her regualr clothes for trick-or-treating, but did wear it to a party. We lost a lot of pics to a virus, and that might have been one of them, btu I'll check.

We did not go to those but were going to take them to the one at Harbor Yard in Bridgeport, CT but by the time we went to look for tickets online they were really expensive. I would love to see her in her cowgirl outfit. DS8 would love it too. He loves anyone who dresses like him. We get a lot of funny looks too.

Today after church, while the kids are still dressed up, we're going to go see Santa at Cabella's . It's SO redncek there, we LOOOOVE it. Santa will be sitting on a rustic but big chair with the trophy animals (deer?) right behind him. Cabella's has a huge aquarium and a HUGE trophy room. I just want to go to "sample" the fudge.

We still have a good several months of a snow season left too. :confused3

Wendy - my boys LOVE Cabella's. We drove to VA to see DH sister and went to the Cabella's in PA. We spent 4 hours there and on the way back spent another 3 hours. They built one here in CT and we are going to take the boys in Feb on their break from school. Didn't want to go there near Christmas. :scared1:

No-sew Fleece Tie Blankets.
Wow, I have made 8 of these in the last month.

I think someone asked how. So here are some step by step photos.
This one is made with Ariel Fleece and blue fleece. I used 1 1/2 yards for my niece who is 2 years old.

If you are making it for an adult use 2 yards. Or buy one of the precut rolls they have at the Fabric Store.

Cut off the salvage edges
IMG_5520.jpg

Cut off 6 inch squares off the corners
IMG_5519.jpg

Cut 6 inch strips every inch
IMG_5518.jpg

Sit somewhere comfortable and tie!
Here is the results
IMG_5521.jpg

I also sewed a pillow case for my Sister's StepDaughter. My sister made her a tie blanket.

Thanks I asked. :)

DH just called, he got our Christmas tree FOR $5!!!! That is SO awesome!:woohoo:

Yeah nice deal we paid $35

Medicine Question???
Hi Everyone - you all seem to know alot about everything, so I just thought I'd ask - I've been feeling really crummy since wed - went to the Dr on friday - tonsilitis strep pharangitis - put on Omnicef and vicodin (for pain if i needed it). Okay so its sunday night now - the white spots on my tonsils are slightly decreased, but they are still very swollen and I can hardly swallow. I just want to sleep all the time. The vicodin helps some, but surely does NOT make the pain go away. What do you think? Is a different antibiotic better for strep? We leave for Disney in a week, and I want to be feeling better!!! Thanks for any advice!!!:santa:

I would definately call the doctor back and tell them you are not feeling well still. My kids have been on Amoxicilin (I know that is not spelled right) for strep. Omnicef they have been on for sinus infections, it's probably good for strep though too. I would definately call them and tell them you don't feel better. Like someone else said you should have felt better within 24 hours. Feel better.

I probabably won't be back until after Christmas to I wanted to wish my sewing buddies Merry Christmas. :santa:

Vicadin?! That seems pretty extreme. I have RSDS and take that during the work day. It's a milder version of Percucet (that I can't take). It works for the severe pain I have. And once I get home from work, I could sleep for hours. I think I'd call the Dr. back or get a second opinion.

My sister lives in Lehi. (the town they filmed Footloose in) :rotfl: And pick up some boots for Jayden too, she insists hers no longer fit.
You need to take us some pictures the next time you are there!!! That is just TOOOOO cool!!!!

HA! I'm shirring. That is SOO amazing. just thought I'd share.--how lame am I??

The daughter of a friend of my dad's asked me about Littles christmas stripwork top...and was thrilled that I'd made it. Her daughter does pagents and she is looking for someone to make some things (casual wear-boutique stuff). My mom and MIL said to take whatever work she has for me and they would help. B is insisting that I take a sewing class and start sewing more so I can polish stuff up a bit more. Good thing we've got a serger coming. I'm kinda excited.

Back to the shirring.

OOOh!!! I would think that could be some good extra money for you!! I hope it works out!

BTW, here are the pics of the twirl top.

She looks darling!!! What a cute little outfit!

I don't know what happened to my quote but wanted to tell Tifani congrats on getting a tree for $5

AND I forgot to add this earlier...

I got a message from Ariel and was told to pass it on...
Happy Birthday Lydia!!!!

Oh my goodness Deann! You should see Lydia's face!!! She is BEYOND excited! How did you know Ariel was her favorite? She is feeling pretty icky today, so she needed the extra boost! She is simply glowing!!!!

Wow yours is completely different that mine! I was just looking at the new sew ones! http://www.wearyourbaby.com/Default.aspx?tabid=121 has anyone used these before? I may have to try and make both then.

I used one with Lydia that was just a really long piece of fabric wrapped around me in a criss cross type fashion. I found the directions online...somewhere.... I loved it. It was comfortable and easy to use, once you got the hang of it. It was also extremely portable, since it was just a big old piece of material! And, nothing could be easier to make!!!

ETA: I found a link to the one like I used. http://www.mobywrap.com/instructions.php Like I said, I just used a very long piece of fabric for this. I didn't buy the official one here. There are many different ways to tie this, and there are links to them on this page too. I have also added this and the other sling directions to the bookmarks under baby.

Could you guys say a quick prayer or send some good thoughts to a friend's daughter? They are telling her they think she has leukemia. They are doing a bone marrow biopsy to verify. Lindsey is seven years old and has been through her parents' divorce this year. Thank you.
Oh that is awful. I will definetely say some prayers for her and her family.
After lunch we went to Club Cool where I convinced Jacob to try Beverly:

You are SOOO mean!!! I like you!
DH went back to the room for a nap and Megan would not go with him, even though she was tired too:

I'm laughing so hard I can barely breathe! As Arminda just said, "If you are going to pee your pants at Disney World, Splash Mountain is the place to do it." She said that with WAY too much confidence, which makes me woned about the time she was the ONLY one wet when we got off there....hmmm....

I love these pictures!!! You two look adorable!! Megan's hair is great!!!

Merry Christmas everyone!! I have been lurking trying to keep up but am way, way behind but love seeing all the new creations! Thought I'd share a picture of my dd in her Christmas custom that I made a while back. She wore that to a Christmas party, and got a lot of compliments on it! Of course, that made me happy and really keeps me sewing! One of my friends wanted me to make her daughter one for Valentine's Day, and couple said they wanted one exactly like that for their daughter next Christmas....but I am not sure if I am comfortable making them for others at this point! My stitching just isn't the neatest if you look on the inside!
Anyway, I am currently working on a pink with white polka dot dress for her to wear to Playhouse Disney live next Sunday.

Hope everyone have a great holiday and a great New year!!

As I mentioned, Lydia hasn't been feeling well. She's got a nasty cold and cough. She was eating a cookie we made the other day, and offered me the rest. We had made a glaze frosting for it, and had just put it on, so it was still shiny and wet. I took it and was careful to turn it around and eat the side she hadn't taken a bite out of. After I took a big bite, she says to me, "I didn't want it, so I just licked all the frosting." :scared1: So much for avoiding those germs!

I thought Brian was going to bust a gut he was laughing so hard!

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVE EVERYONE! Just popping in to say HI! As usual I am way behind but have been way too busy to keep up! I have seen some fantastic things on here however! Hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and I am sure there will be lots to post and look at after tomorrow! Happy Holidays!

P.S. Steph- love all of the pics and I will be praying for your friends' daughter.

Hi - do you know if they will "pixie up" an adults hair? I will be there on NYE, and its also a big bday for me, and I'd love to be a kid one more time - do you think they would do it? How much did it cost? do you need an appointment?

Love your outfits!!!:santa:

I do know that they will do it. There was a lady before Megan with her daughter and they got matching pixie dust. It is first-come-first-serve (we had to wait about 15 minutes) and it cost $7.50. It is a pain to wash out but worth it!

We just got word that it is confirmed: Lindsey does have leukemia and will start on a chemo treatment that will last 2 1/2 years. I don't understand how this can happen to such a sweet girl, so thanks for your prayers.

No, you would smell it if she did! Dh tried to convince her that no one would notice so she did enjoy the rest of the ride but as soon as we got off I rushed her off to get something to wear. Boy, she stunk! You forget how much little kid pee smells, and it was everywhere! Thank goodness she was wearing jeans so it didn't make it down to her socks and shoes!

This is so cute! I have some of that fabric and never managed to do anything with it. That is adorable and I'm glad you got compliments on it!

Yuck! The kids were horrible at Disney, touching everything, especially the handrails! I kept telling them, why do you keep putting your hands and face on the places where people put their butts and feet? It was so gross!
