While I try to decide what to do about the neckline, should i put something on the front? Appliquéd Mickey head? Appliquéd flower?

I'm so excited!! I pieced together the Abby Cadabby applique that I wanted to do. It ACTUALLY looks like her!! :cheer2: It took me a good hour just to trace, cut and piece the darn thing together. (Lots of little pieces :scared: ) I'm kinda skeered to start appliqueing it! Don't want to mess it up!! I have to pick DD up from school in an hour or I would have started on it. With my luck I would have gotten too involved and forgotten to pick her up! Hopefully I'll have something to post tomorrow!! :yay:

For the poster who asked about girl overalls (I'm sorry, I lost my multi-quote and forget who), I have a pattern that has gathers under the bust area, and is really cute. I'll see if I can find it. I have the kids home today, but tomorrow, I'll look. If I find it, I'll scan the pattern and post it.

I hope everyone's having a great holiday!!

that was me!!!! Thanks, that would be great!:) I am going to go to Joann's on Saturday, I hope! They are having a pattern sale so maybe I could get the pattern then!

For those of you who have the portrait peasant dress pattern, how did you make it into a top? I think some of you on here have used it for a one piece top? I was wondering if you just cut the bust part longer? or did you have to cut it longer and wider? :confused3 Any advice would be great! I want to make tops for both of my girls! TIA:flower3:

I made this top using that pattern.

I lengthened the "bodice," and I cut the sides on a slight angle so it had a little more room.

OHHHHH! Okay, I think I will try it! I love that top, is it made out of like a velvety material? It is VERY cute!

I haven't made the top but I would think you could also leave the bodice as is and add a "ruffle" the rest of the length of the top. That's what I had planned to do but I think I am making the dainty designs one this time, though I'd like to make the portrait dress. I have to go home and finish the stripwork jumper I broke down and started for Little to wear to breakfast w/ Santa and on christmas eve. The bodice is sewn and the strips are sewn together and the ruffled is ruffled I just have to attatch all of them together. She saw it on the table this morning and was mad she couldn't wear it. She wanted to wear a "Cinderella" dress I said there is no Cinderella dress and she picked up the snowman bodice and said "Sew me my Cinderella dress, Mama!!!" SO I'd better get it finished. I am making her fur cuffs too, but I am NOT repeat NOT customizing a pair of pants. She can wear plain jeans darn it!!

Mindy, good luck w/ that top, LMK how it goes. WE WANT WDW PICS!!!

Yep, it was made witha stretchy velvet. PITB to work with! But it turned out okay. Th Portrait Peasant dress pattern goes much quicker this way. You'll "whip them up" in no time.

Well today I went to the American Girl Doll Store that just opened here in Atlanta! It was so cool!
I got DD her doll and the hair styling set. I also was able to pick up a little outfit they had on special for only $14. My sister got her a little t-shirt.

Now I need to sew some things for her. I am planning on matching jammies for DD and the doll, a fleece poncho, and a chenille blanket.

We just got back from the Christmas party for the kids' choir. Megan is really cranky! I tried to get some pictures for Christmas cards before we left and this was the best one. I am thinking of chucking my perfectionist tendencies and use it just to get them done!

This is really cute. I think it will be good for Christmas cards. I like Megan's top. Your son looks good in his red t-shirt too.

Congratulations on the newest addition to your family! LOL!! Which doll did you get? (And what outfit?) You'll have fun making the matching sets - it's kinda addictive!

Here are a few patterns. Unfortunately, I don't know if any of them are still in print. I got them from :wizard: a few years ago.

These are PERFECT! I really like the Mccalls pattern in the second pic! THANK YOU!!!!!!:flower3:

for those that are making matching doll outfits. There is a really easy(and cheap) way to make tights to fit Bitty and AG. If anyone needs the directions, I can type it up and maybe have Teresa joy add it to the links.

I just about finished the set! I still have to do her eyelashes, by hand. Wouldn't you know it I can't find a needle. I plan on giving this to my almost 2 yo. neice for Christmas. Is it ok or should I skip it and try Elmo? All I see are my mistakes and what I should have done.

Here is the image I used.
