I had been feeling guilty about making several things for our upcoming trip for DD, but nothing for DS. He really wants a camp shirt, but that's still outside my skill level (especially at this point in time -- we leave in a week!) So, I decided to try my hand at an applique. I've never done one before. I made this for DS to wear to Mickey's Christmas Party. As you can see, he wasn't into modeling "nicely." This is him trying to give *himself* bunny ears in the picture. LOL!

My machine doesn't have a satin stitch option, so I had to use the buttonhole stitch. It's not as nice and smooth as I'd like it to be, but I'm pretty happy considering it's my first try at an applique.

Love the tree applique! Great idea to use the Mickey Head Buttons for ornaments!

Theresa that was really sweet what you wrote! I love how nice you are too each other!

I have a sister and we get along but we don't see each other as often as I would like. She works hard and hasn't been able to have any children. Her DH is kind of odd too. But when we get together we have fun and she loves my kids.

So here's to Sisters! And Happy Birthday! Do you have any special plans?

Nana and I are definitely going to try to come out tonight, even for just a bit. Nana is leaving at 3am to drive back to Norfolk, so we'll probably be there early, but we'd really love to finally meet you!!!

I couldn't ever get it to work reliably, so I just suck it up and thread it the hard way. I'm acutally on my second serger, and it has little adjustments to the internal parts that make threading easier, but I've still got that mental block leftover from my old machine I guess! Can she do this with the needle threads too, or just the loopers? I always hit a snag on the needles when the knot went through.

She is able to do this on all the thread. She has a viking, so I don't know if that makes a difference. I know she uses singer needles.

Here is the peasant top I made for DD10 yesterday morning. The shirring on the arms wasn't as tight as I wanted, but I couldn't find my elastic thread and used some I found in my mom's old sewing basket. It is at least 20 years old. I also just chopped a few inches off of her hair.

I am so excited to meet Alli and Nana!! Of course today is the one day I don't have a sitter and have to take little to the gig w/ me. AND she has decided to wear her thanksgiving dress today- I'll just tell Nana not to look at it too closely it was mostly done in the wee hours and is not very neat But I am glad they are coming out!!!

I am adopting Theresa and Heather as my sisters too. Mine doesn't like me.

I've decided to recreate the overalls we had for ds on our last trip (he has outgrown them). Anyone know where to find a Mickey applique/iron on. I found one at Walmart but it's too small. I looked on ebay but it's hard to tell if they are just fabric or the thick ones like the one that's on his old pair.

This is probably too late, but I use the longest stitch length, at about a medium to tight tension. You need to play around with the tension to make sure that it is not too tight or too loose.

Ah, how could ANYONE not like you? I understanding wanting to adopt Theresa and Heather though. I don't have a sister at all. SO, to have a sister like Theresa or Heather would be a dream!
