I looked at the picture before I read what you wrote and the whole time I'm thinking- what a beautiful girl, I wonder where she got that gorgeous dress! Then, I see that you made it!! Wow, I just love that color. My sister would look gorgeous in it, too (she has the prettiest green eyes- EVER).

Well, I finally got my DD4 to model her casual princess outfit! And no I will not apologize for the falling down ponytail hair! Nor for my messy living room! You know how dangerous cleaning is!

I appreciate the no apologies!! I really love that outfit. She looks so precious in it!

Yeah, a sleeping bag for Jord!!!! We ate at Applebees today, and there was a little box of toys for the kids to play with. And, guess what was in there???? Jord's cousin!!! We were doing a video review for ExpoTV, so I held it up and taped saying, "Look it's Jord!" My son looked at me like I was crazy, but the girls know who Jord is!

I have a 4 11/12 year old!

First of all, how could you leave Jord's cousin crammed in a box full of other toys, as if he/she was just an inanimate object?

Second, I couldn't resize this picture of Corey, it's just priceless! I love that kid!

That gets funnier every time I see it! And I can't decide what's the funniest part, Heather making that or Corey wearing it! You know I love you Heather, but that is too funny! And believe me, if I had pics of my sewing disasters, I'd most definitely share, but alas they all have been destroyed!!! Well, I wouldn't call those a disaster, they are wearable!

I think the funniest part is that Teresa kept this thing for 15 years and then surprised me by photographing her hilarious son actually wearing it!!

Also, thanks for mentioning magic sizing. I saw it at Dollar Tree and had to buy it, because you said so.

I am so excited!! Last night I stayed up 'til midnight optimizing my ruffler!! Before I found this thread, I never would have imagined that I'd type that sentence. Anyway, if you haven't read the free "ruffler unruffled" PDF from youcanmakethis.com, you've got to read it! If you haven't downloaded it, you have to sign up for their mailing list and then you can download some free patterns and stuff. Anyway, I used the calculations in the tutorial and my ruffle turned out the perfect length for the skirt I was making. It was like MAGIC!!!

One of the tags (the other side of the tags has their name & 'I Spy With My Little Eye')

The bags are from theoffice supply isle at Wal-Mart. I put the stuff in (I used rice. Rinse it first & dry it in the oven so get rid of the powder) & glued the zipper shut, pulled of the zipper pull & then glued the ribbon over the zipper.

WOW, that is such a neat idea. I am going to make one of those for Nicholas and Makayla. That should keep them busy for a while! Eye Spy isn't something anyone ever heard of around here...like the quilt....and now this. Guess we're too busy avoiding road apples...LOL

The petti is pretty big! But I think it is very, very cute. She loves to wear it, and we love the comments we get when she's dressed in it. Thanks evreyone for your comments!

I just have pettiskirt envy Both DDs would probably love one (heck, I would love one) but DD10 is a little old and DD2 is a little young (to spend that much on a pettiskirt--I don't dare to try and make one) I think I'll just start saving $ now and maybe she'll get one when she is 4!

Gorgeous outfits! You have been busy! Did you make the beaded headband? It is really pretty. Your children are adorable.

Thank you! I did make the headband. It is my second one. I'm still not sure I'm doing it right, but they seem to work and stay on her head, so good enough.

Lots of cute stuff everyone!

Everytime I read about kids with their grandparents it makes me teary. My dad died 8 years ago and my mom died 2 years ago. DH's mom died about 12 years ago. DH's dad and step mom live in Canada and we don't see them that much. My parents were the BEST grandparents. I miss them, for my kids' sake even more than my own.

That is such a sweet sentiment. I love being a grandma...and I just hope that my grandbabies aways remember me with love and kindness. That's how my grandma was and I loved being with her. I so enjoy making outfits for them and doing whatever I can to help their parents out. I am so blessed that I still have my parents and I am 57! So these little sweeties below even have their Grandma Nancy and Grandpa Richard...or as Makalaya says, "Grandma Ancy..she gives me stuff!"

Ok, only a few days until we leave for our trip...hopefully will finish all those overalls for Nicholas today.

I bought a pattern for an eye-spy bag several years ago. Then I bought the little plastic bead thingies at Wal-Mart. Then my kids got into them and spilled them all over. Then I bought more. I also bought a bunch of cute little stuff to put in it (I remember the pattern suggesting anything smaller than a nickel). And it is all sitting in my craft room closet! Now I don't know how we will possibly make it through church today without one! I need to go buy some vinyl and figure out my serger and make some up! I think I'll do some for Christmas gifts too! You know what would be so cool in those? Those teeny Disney collectible figures they just came out with. You can only buy them in the parks. I bought 2 packs but they are too expensive ($5 for a pack of 3 teeeeny figures) But they are MINE all MINE so they probably won't find their way into any I Spy bags.

I love this! I think I posted a quick comment about the fabric earlier, but I really really love the whole outfit! I agree that you could add another ruffle to make the jeans longer, or if it's close to a size four, ship it on to MD!!!

oh it is a size 4, and now they are capri's hehe.

She was one of those grandmas that is all about the grandkids (like you!) DHs dad and step mom will be in town (they live in Canada) for days before even making time to see my kids and it breaks my heart. Yesterday I was just remembering that when I was my daughter's age, my mom would let us have her fabric scraps and use her sewing machine to make "Barbie clothes" I even remember sewing kleenex dresses. I have her machine now, I should really let DD make doll clothes. That is a good memory. Okay, sorry to ramble, like I said, missing my parents.

A few years ago, I made some eye spy christmas ornaments. I bought the clear plastic bulbs from Michaels, sand and the little packages of Christmas decorations (Bows,bells, packages, ornaments, candy canes). Everyone loved them. I don't think any of them ever made it to a tree-too many people trying to find all the items.

I too miss my Grandma more because of the holidays. My DD never got to meet my Grandma. But I think my Grandma would have LOVED her. My Mother, well she is not really a cookie baking, sewing Grandma. I hope my DD will be able to make fond memories with her.

To bad we can't choose our familes, our kids could have a "Aunt Heather, Aunt Teresa Joyce (I remembered ) and Aunt Lisa and cousin JORD!"

Hi ladies,

I just noticed Utahmama's post about the I Spy bags. I thought you might be interested in seeing the ones I made for my kiddos. I have made many, but only posted pictures of 2.

I use aquarium filler (found at walldemort in the fish department). I used clear for the younger kids, and colored to make the other one more difficult. I used fleece for the back, clear vinyl for the window, and felt for the top, just zig zagged on my machine. I just found little things (polly pocket stuff works great) around the house: buttons, paperclips, small toys, etc...

I have to say, not only does it keep my kids quiet at church, but all the adults and children sitting near us. They are really fun to play with. Hope this gives someone some ideas

Hey All!

FINALLY got caught up! Everything looks amazing! I'm sorry I don't have more time to individually recognize all fo the awesome creations.

I have to warn you guys, if you have extremely rough kids, to be careful about double or triple encasing the insides fo the i-spy pillows. I had made a few I-Spy pillows for my kids, and DD who was 2 at the time, TORE HERS OPEN on a plane flight from NY to AZ. I'm shocked we didn't get banned from flying air tran ever again, the stuff went EVERYWHERE. (I used the plastic beads you can use for beanbags...they're these little cylinders! They rolled everywhere, it was a health hazard for the poor stewardesses even after they helped us sweep them up.)

So, Since people asked for pics of the wrap pants pattern I posted, I finally dug them out (they were packed away with the summer stuff). DH took the pic, adn I know I look lousy....whaddayawant? It's Laundry and football sunday. Even the kids are getting a pyjama day.

ETA: These are a pair of bathing suit cover-up pants. I do not dress like that on a daily basis.!! Though, I did remember how comfy they are when I put them on, and I think I might make myself a pair in fleece for bumming around the house in.

In other news, has anyone ever had their gall-bladder out? Mine has to come out early next month (scheduling it the tuesday after Thanksgiving), and I'm a little concerned, since I am a stay-at-home mom. They kiddos are in school (pre-k and K), but put them on and I get them off the bus and take care of them until daddy gets home every night. My mother has offered to come out and help me for a few days, but she's a cleaning nazi (and I'm...well...cluttered), and having her here is extremely stressful, adn would require my spending the next 3-4 weeks leading to the surgery Frantically deep cleaning the entire house. I would prefer to avoid this, since they say this is a one-day surgery, but will I need help? Thanks in advance.

For the eye spy bag, can you buy that vinyl at the store and sew it together????? i have no idea, i was just curious....

I bought a clear shower curtain today, might try that. But the bag it came in looks like it will work just fine. I was thinking about those vinyl bags that comforters and such come in! I have tons of those lying around!

I LOVE the idea about colored stuff to make it more difficult!!!!!!!!! That makes it fun for all ages!!! I'm seriously going to make these for kids on my Christmas list! Whoever started this subject...

I had mine out 12 years ago--wow that makes me feel old! All I can remember is that from the moment I woke up I felt SOOOOOOO much better than I did before I had it out! I really felt fine. The first day I was groggy and slept a lot, but after that It was just local tenderness where I had my tiny incisions. Laughing hurt though. But I was really fine to do normal low-key household stuff. Unless the bus stop is a long walk from your house, I'm guessing you should be fine. Just stick a couple of days of meals in the freezer so you can take it easy.

We used the Simplicity Costumes pattern #5927. They were really easy, although we made them a little more difficult by deciding to line them with fleece . The first one we made (which isn't pictured) we didn't line and it took us about 3 hours start to finish and that was the first time either of us had sewn since high school lol.
