I have a quick question....What is CASE-ing?

I saw it mntioned a few times, but I skipped about 1,000 pages and missed it somewhere. :rolleyes1

Thanks in advance

I've already washed and trimmed these! The top was sooo easy to do - I'll be making more of these sets!

I love how they turned out!!!

Okay, so here was my brilliant idea...we have about a gazillion of those darn autograph books from WDW laying around the house, that the girls really don't look at after the trip...BUT you KNOW we have to get every character's autograph that we can find while we're there right? So this year, I decided that I would make them their own little autograph books using pictures from past years so that it would be a little more special for them. I started out thinking I would use a 5 x 7 book...Wrong! Too small...so I worked my way up to a 7 x 7...it was better, but I could only get like two picture per page on it, and I wanted more. So, I finally settled on an 8 x 8 book that I'm sure I'll be cursing having to lug around for them, but I like the size better. DD5's is mostly done, dd9's is about half done. Here are a couple of pages...

I made most of them two page spreads so there were plenty of room for pics and of course autographs...

IMG_0357.jpg

And this one just because it's my favorite all time picture. Page isn't finished yet, but I love it.

Usually my pages are a little fuller, like this.....

But, because the books are so small and I dreaded the thought of the weight of them (!) I tried to keep it pretty simple.

Hope this gives you some ideas!!!

I can't believe how easy it was to post a picture. I thought it would take me like an hour to figure out, it took like, ten minutes!!!

I encourage anyone who's not posting pics because they think they won't be able to figure it out, C'MON AND TRY IT!!! It's surprisingly easy!!

And, I know my scrapbook pages aren't sewing related, thanks for letting me post them...now I have to go create some clothes so I can post more pics!!

(omg, I really neeeeeed to get out more.)

WOW!! Thanks!!! These look really great! I've been trying to figure out if I want to have an autograph on one side, and then a picture on the other. I really like how you did these. I bought some scrapbooks (well, Heather bought them for me!) at Big Lots the other day that are fairly large, (Heather could tell you exactly how big they were by looking, but I need a tape measurer.....8 1/2" X 8 1/4") so I think it might work. I can imagine that the kids would enjoy looking at the pictures along with the autographs. I think I might be able to add pages to the book when I'm done so I can add picture pages as well.

Thanks again for the pictures! I'm glad it was easy for you to do! There really isn't anything to the picture posting thing!

I finished DD's Decoupage set!! Thanks to everyone for all of the tips! I fused some pieces and pinned some too. I think next time I'll just pin as I go.

Oh yeah, I love those pants. I did mine with a frayed bottom, but I really like the finished bottom better....NICE JOB and cutie patootie kiddo!!

Thanks all for the kind comments about the Christmas skirt. I love that tree print, too, and I'm so glad I got some before it became so hard to find. I'm not sure what kind of top I'll make but I may do a corset style from pink or lime corduroy for when she wears it with the pettiskirt. I may also do a simpler appliqued tee. Good thing I have plenty of time to decide. ;)

Ok, I have to know, where can I get these cool outfits for Disney? My DD is 8 but the tree skirt would be great, along with some of the other not so kiddish outfits. We are going to WDW for Christmas and I just think the outfits would suit any Holiday occasion.
How do I find these on EBay?
TIA

Many of the ladies make the clothes they show for their own kids. Some buy on eBay - which many of us call Voldemort or just indicate it as :wizard:. If you see a particular outfit you like, I'd say send the person a PM to ask if they'd share the source. I know some sellers on :wizard: are reluctant to have buyers post their IDs on a forum like this but they might be OK to have a buyer share it more privately.

IF you don't want to use expensive stabiliser for something quick like this, a coffee filter will work well to stabilise and tear away easily. I've used them in a pinch.

Thanks for the tip, I'll have to try that. Do you just pin them in place or stick the under the applique just before stitching? I'm so spoiled by iron-on stabilizer. :)

I need to vent....Gosh, I am so upset at our favorite auction site. I listed a yard of fabric a long time ago. Someone bid and won, and then decided not to pay. She's been telling me that she sent the check, and then she said 2 weeks later that she sent another check. Well...gee, guess what. 30 days later...no check. Big surprise.:sad2: So what does my nice buyer do, I left her neutral feedback, because she did keep in touch with me, I was trying to be nice, she decided to leave me a negative feedback for not taking paypal. I wish ebay would change their policies on that. If someone is a non payer, they should get negative feedback with out being able to retaliate (SP). It's just not fair. I work so hard to make all of my buyers happy, and then you get a loser like this...make's me angry...

Make sure to file a Non-Paying Bidder dispute if you haven't already. Your buyer will have 7 -10 days to respond (I can't remember exactly how long). Assuming it's found in your favor, you'll be credited for the final value fees plus I believe the NPB's negative will be removed. The comment will stay but at least it won't count toward your feedback score.

Love the christmas patch jeans and shirt. Where did you get the black fabric with presents.

I am in the middle of doing high school musical themed patch jeans for the ice show. Just finished one leg and sewed it back together. I had to take a break.

Okay vent over...now we can get back to our regular programming of cute kids with just out of the bath hair, and cute outfits that we spent way too much time making...:rolleyes1
That is so unfair !:headache: you do deserve positive feedback :goodvibes (maybe we can all go on your site and give ya some;) and rave about how great paypal is and that we don't worry about sending checks through the mail so that they don't get lost):rolleyes1

Yeah, I ended up liking the bigger size because I wanted to have enough room to show a progression of the girls' ages..on one page I have a pic of dd5 with Chip (or is it Dale?:lmao: ) on her first trip at about six months old along with a pic of her and both of them at about four. And I think the costumed characters need a halfway decent size place to sign so I put the second page in there more for them than anything else.

Most albums make it super easy to add pages later. I was thinking of taking some plain scrapbook paper along in case we run into a character we don't have in the book, so that later I can just pop another sleeve in there, slap the couple pictures we'll have taken that day on the signed sheet and ta-da...instant scrapbook page.

Let me know if you have any questions...I've been scrapbooking for about nine years now so I'll be happy to help ya out!!

I usually just stick it underneath for the really simple stuff...anything I would normally just not use stabiliser for. A friend of mine will actually use freezer paper to substitute for iron on stabiliser. I've never tied this (I rarely applique, usually I machine embroider), but she says it works great, too.

You are all sooooooooooooo talented. Just thought I would share a few things I have made for friends lately.

The wipe case has lipgloss, bandaids, etc for her Disneyworld trip

I love this top! I will definitely be CASEing this one.

NOT FAIR! Can you talk to ebay and protest the negative feedback?

These look great! I have that musical notes fabric too. I want to make Arminda a Rock N Rollercoaster skirt with it. We only have 182 days before we go, so I better get busy!

I LOVE THIS! Your daughter is sooo cute and the outfit is fantastic! Is that shirt made basically like a tshirt dress? I really love this outfit!

Yes, basically. I didn't gather though.

THis is adorable! How did you do the top? Did you just add to a turtleneck and cut off the excess? I may have to make some of these for my dds!

I don't know if I can explain how I did the top but I will try. It was super easy! I measured the width of the top and added 1/4 inch for a seam allowance. It was 13in. (I think) I wanted the top to flare out a little, so I cut a piece of fabric 16 inches wide and 10 inches long. I made a mark on the top of the fabric an inch and a half in (on each side) so when cut it would measure the 13 in. I then cut a diagonal line from the top mark to the bottom corner. (making sense? So I had a trapazoid.) Make two of these. Sew together at side seams. I didn't even cut the t-neck, we need all of the warmth we can get! Pin the "skirt" to the t-neck (right sides together)and sew in place. I didn't do a ruffle, but it would look cute with one. I hope this makes sense, I suck at explaining things! If this doesn't make sense maybe one of the veterans can explain it better!

Love the christmas patch jeans and shirt. Where did you get the black fabric with presents.

All of the fabric I used in this came from Joann's. The black print is exclusive to them. The stripes was from a FQ.

Thanks for all the comments on this outfit. I love it and more important, DD does too.

Here was one post we had waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when about different Ebay search terms.

Also, note = some characters' names are purposely misspelled, but are still find-able ... I won't go into the reasons "WHY" people do it, but Perhaps, Try these tricks to find some great creations in a new search =

swap your "i's" for "!'s" = like "M!NN!E" or "M!CKEY" or even "D!SNEY"
swap your "uppercase i's" for "lowercase L's" = like "MlNNlE" or "MlCKEY" or "DlSNEY" or "DAlSY"

swap your "uppercase o's" for "0's" = like "ELM0" or "D0NALD" or "P00H" or "D0RA"
swap your "lowercase L's" for "1's" = like "E1mo" (not as commonly used)

or swap "a's" for "@'s" = like "DOR@"

and of course, swap "*'s" (asterisk/star) for just about any vowel or letter = like "M*CKEY" or "M*NN*E"

IF people have used these swaps in their titles or listings, it'll come up in a search, if you type in these ways.

Good Luck

aw a skirt would have been cute to go with her Jacket. Can't wait to see how it turns out.

Thanks, I hope it turns out good!

We love High School Musical here too! Are these for MGM (I can still call it that for awhile!) or HSM on ice?

ETA: Just went back to see that you say they are for Disney.
