Get a rolled hem foot. It makes hemming those skirts MUCH easier! Round hems are really hard to, well.....hem! But the rolled hem foot makes it a lot faster.

THanks to you, too! I didn't see your answer before. Where can I get one? Do I have to order from somewhere, or does Jo ann's Fabric carry them?

Or Tequila

Well I do have to say that i am looking forward to sunday for my birthday girls day out. California Adventure has margaritas. Last years trip was a blast. We called them Mickey Mouse Margeritas. This was the 3 of us by the end of the night :dance3:. This year we are going a little early my but hey disney with my sister and best friend and no hubby and kids. I say woohoo bring on the yellow cups.[/QUOTE]

Oh I LOVE  California Adventure!!!! My sister and I had the best time there in June!!!! We would go to the winery and sit and order a cheese platter and littlle bottles of champaigne and just sit and watch everything. It was soooooo great! One afternoon my niece was with us (17) and she said, "I can't wait till I can get drunk at Disney." Now we aren't drunks and we weren't really drunk, it is just something silly that just seems like such a funny thing to say at Disney!

If you see a really cute photopass guy (younger 20's blonde) named Joe tell him Denise said hi! He was great on our trip. We saw him everywhere. Ask him if he's had anyone do a handstand in any of his photopass pics?????:upsidedow

Does anyone know if you can applique fleece? I'm making a snow themed outfit, and I want the snowflakes to be something that may resemble snow - any suggestions?

I don't know how fancy you are making your outfit, but there was some pretty material at wal-mart yesterday. It was a sheer material with snowflakes through it. Very Pretty.

Oh, and btw, what is voldemort? The only voldemort I know is from Harry Potter!:lmao:

Copy And Steal Everything ( I think) Then there is CAB, which i do know means Copy And Butcher. I know CAB, because I have done this!!!

Yeahhhhh! I coined the phrase CAB! I'm so happy it stuck! :cool1:

Oh, there's a bolt of this Bambi Fabric at this quilt shop I frequent on the bargain table (I forgot how much $) It features snow and Bambi and friends on the frozen lake (I think). I "see" it as a comforter since the print is largish. BUT, I haven't bought it, but now with all the Bambi talk I suddenly feel the need to get it!

SEE HOW YOU PEOPLE ARE?

If every one was buying TROLL fabric, I'd find a use for it!

:cheer2: Hooray for Margaritas, best friends and birthdays (that's the only way I get through them anymore!!:rotfl: ) I hope you have a FANTASTIC day sans husband and kids!!

I think that might be kinda tough. Do you think that maybe chenille would look good. I am thinking about using chenille for Santa's beard on a Christmas outfit. JoAnn also had some other textured material that might work better. I think that the stretch might give you some fits. I do o.k. with fleece, but sometimes it takes me a while to get everything adjusted so that my thread doesn't keep breaking.

Good luck!

Chenille is a good idea! I just want something that's a little fuzzy. Chenille might be the answer! Thanks!

Remember these?

Well, I made this tonight for dd2 to wear with!

Sorry about the crummy pics, but they do match!!!

For future reference, My Camera Stinks!!!!!! and I hereby apologize for any and all future crummy pics!!!! There..... I don't have to do that again! :rotfl:

Yep, I remember those, SO cute! I love those bows! I really need to make some bows! I have no excuse now, I have the little alligator clips, I have the ribbon, I have wire, I have hot glue, I just don't know if I have the "skills".

Oh yes, Megan is like that with any color. One time I sheepishly told her preschool teacher that she dressed herself and she said she could tell and what a great job she did! From then, I tried not to worry about what she looks like and just be proud she did it herself.

Oh alright, if you insist, here is the boy twirling:

Man, Megan is all over me, she must be feeling better. She is sure tougher than me: thanks for your hugs! :)
I'm not even going to make that one smaller!! I love it! What is your son's name?

I'm glad Megan is feeling better.

I also would price things according to how much YOU would pay for them.
I think that THAT is the best piece of pricing advice I have ever read! Sometimes I wonder what the Ebay sellers are thinking with those prices! But, I also think that if they can get it, more power to them!

I found this fabric on the $1 table at W-M the other day. I thought it looked really familiar, but obviously it got printed wrong.

th_10-15-07_1305.jpg
We have this in the blue tones, which looks a little more like Bambi! It wasn't on the $1 table though! It has not held up well in the wash, at all. But, it was the only Bambi fabric I had seen for a long time, and Arminda loves her Bambi!

Cindee has since been nice enough to send me some really nice Bambi fabric, that I still have to make something out of!

Ok my dh just let me know we have like 34 days until we leave:eek: so i have to get off this thread and on my machine!!!!:scared: I still have lots of stuff to make, plan a first bday party for my dd and worry about thanksgiving plans!:scared: Gotta get to work!
Yep, get to work! How exciting though, 34 days!!!!
Im about 45 minutes from Cedar Point. We used to get season passes in high school and go there every weekend. Gotta say the right side of the Jemini is the better. We always win! And the only thing good about the Disaster Transport is the Air conditioning you get to wait in. The beach was the first time I ever Parisailed. So fun! And love the rip cord. Thats the closest thing I've done to bungee coarding.
Heather's husband use to live near Cedar Point. Apparently he use to swim across and sneak in. (At least that's the way I understood it) Weird thing though, he doesn't like rollercoasters or amusement parks.

Ok no Mickey Mouse Margeritas for you I think you should stick to you little bottles. Then again I would love to see what you would do after you drank a few.:yay:  I am a weekling they keep saying you don't drink so for most of the night I keep saying is it hot in here. :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2:

I have a question for those of you that sew for others. How do you decide what to charge for your items? It seems that there is a pretty broad spectrum of pricing going on. I don't want to lose money (obviously), and I don't want to price my stuff out of range either. Is there a general formula that you use to determine what is a reasonable price? If you don't feel comfortable posting the answer here, would you please PM me? Thanks!

On another board I belong to, it seems that people who are starting out add up the cost of their materials and then either double or triple that for their cost. I think you need to keep in mind how much actual work goes into it. Meaning if it's a pillowcase dress, or a t shirt dress, the amount of work and time is not the same as an applique. I also would price things according to how much YOU would pay for them. Then once you get a good reputation....it may go gangbusters on Voldemort!!!!

Definitely consider the cost of your materials, fees, etc. plus your time. Doubling or tripling the cost of your materials is a good starting point as is taking into consideration the complexity of the design. I really think people starting out need to set their starting price at the minimum they can accept for an item. Too often I think new sellers see auctions start at $.99 and end really high but those are almost always auctions of established sellers. I would also suggest against using a reserve since I've heard many buyers say they won't bid if there is a reserve. Again, more established sellers can do well with a reserve but even they don't always get the price they want. Good luck!

Does anyone know if you can applique fleece? I'm making a snow themed outfit, and I want the snowflakes to be something that may resemble snow - any suggestions?

I've done a little appliqueing with fleece and find it a pain to use. Because it's so thick, it's hard to get it to fuse to the tshirt. Other than that, it definitely is usable and looks really cute. Since it doesn't ravel, a satin stitch isn't necessary either so a fun decorative stitch would work.

I have seen them at JoAnns before. I'm sure you can also order one online. The one we have came with Corey's sewing machine.

That is just a really really interesting post!! So much information about you to absorb there! :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl:

Look at how weird my quote came out above???? That's crazy.

Weird how that happens sometimes, isn't it? :confused3

Voldemort=Ebay

Ok, QUICK! Everyone go out and buy Troll fabric, just so I can see what Wendy does with it!!!! ;)

We were actually in Disneyland the day we did the handstands! I can't blame the booze for that. We had a blast with the photopass people on that trip. We would stand there and act like we were just going to pose normal and then we'd get in a pyramid or do a handstand or put on shower caps or something at the last minute. It was really funny watching the reaction of the photographer!

We also had a good time with the "dream team"! My sister (who has a lot more nerve than me) would stop and scream..... "Oh my goodness, did I just win a dream?????" everytime she saw one. It was funny watching which ones just ignored her and which ones got the joke! Dreamteam Joey thought we were fun so he got us on a bunch of rides and got us the pictures too! He also got us special seats at Fantasmic which was a big deal because it was the first show since it had been closed for rehab and it was our last night!

Oh, I miss Disney right now and I just had to spend $350 getting a tree trimmed this morning and I have an entire bathroom ripped out of my house. Money is pretty much spoken for around here for a while. Real life stinks sometimes. I am seriously pouting right now.

Our passes don't expire till jan 28. SO i still have a few more months. We are going on xmas day. Only for part of the day my mom lives down the street from dland so we are going to do xmas gifts and dinner with her.. I did go to the dollar store and get some light up stuff for this sunday to be silly. I even bought hair clips and glasses. I hope we get pics.:3dglasses

How fun to be able to go so often! I am really jealous. We had a blast on our "seniour trip" and I probably won't be back until our next senior graduates which won't be for a long long time. She's only in the 6th grade.

I would love to get to DW with just dh, but we'll have to see if that will ever happen. The only way I can see it is if we go with the girls and get anual passes and go pretty close to the same time. It stinks being so far away. Our airfaire adds about $1000 to our trip. If we lived within driving distance we would go much more often. Heck, if we lived within driving distance to anything fun we would be there more often too!

This made me spit out my Coke... I just bought some troll fabric cause I thought it was cute at Joanne's when they did the 1/2 off clearance fabrics... I think I am going to make some sort of dress out of it... cause nothing DD has will go with it!!!!

I have two outfits to share a little later this evening if I can get my booty on the computer tonight!

I would love to go to dw with hubby we never had a honeymoon. :sad2: We got married 3 days after I turned 21 so next month will be 7 years on the 18. I can't believe I am going to be 28 on the 15.:scared1: I feel so old.

I know what you mean about feeling old- I was just training a new employee yesterday and she is 19. I'm 27. And generally I don't feel old or even think that I'm old. But just talking with her it reminded me of how long ago it was that I was 19, It seems like forever ago!!! I got married 4 days after turning 19. So I have been married for 8 years already- Where does the time go.......
Well back to the sewing machine for me- 15 days til we leave :scared1:

Zoe is the same way with pink. She has some clothes that are fine for playing outside but not for school. I feel bad making her change her clothes since she's doing so well about waking and dressing by herself since school started but there are some things I just can't get past - like the tshirt with a stain that is perfectly fine for making mudpies and jumping in puddles but not for school. LOL

BTW My sister said when her oldest was in grade school, she was tempted to send a note with him some mornings when he'd put together a particularly clashing outfit. She did mention that to the teacher and she replied that most teachers can figure out which kids dressed themselves. ;)

Oh my, I think I'd have felt the same in her place! LOL I hate working with tulle because it's like it has a mind of its own.

I'm in the middle (still!) of that double layer tulle twirl skirt and I'm so glad to hear an expert say that they hate working with it too! I'm ready for this skirt to be done - but then I guess I need to get off my computer, huh!
