I also just realized that I have another pair of outfits finished that I fogot to take pics of. I'll try to get pics taken & post them later today.

How cute!! Your DD is absolutely adorable!

Love it! Why I am sitting here reading instead of working one of the five projects I have waiting for me?
I'm wondering the same thing (what I'm doing on here, not what you're doing on here- you're welcome to be on here as much or as little as you want because we all love you). But, I have to get my post count up, yah know.

Ok, I'll try to attempt to show how I made the Buzz spiral sleeves on Lyddys outfit!
You are awesome, Teresa!

Just a reminder, if anyone is trying to find something on the bookmarks site, there is a search link at the top of the page that can help! Sometimes when I don't remember where I put something, I use that.
I didn't know that!!

Teresa! You are not cutting all that out with preschool safety scissors are you? Where are your real scissors? I am laughing so hard! :rotfl2:

Um, thank you for adding to the bookmarks. That is way too much for me to try to absorb on a first reading. I might have to bring the fabric over to the computer when I try it! You are awesome!
Let me tell you a little something about my sister. She is not allowed to use "big girl scissors" ever since she sat on a pair and had to get stitches IN HER BUTT!!!!!! True story!!
I LOVE THIS THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I will be back with tons of pictures. I have never noticed this before!
And we love you... errr... at least I'm sure we WILL love you!

I wanna know who does teresa heart???
Teresa hearts Brian. She writes it every chance she gets. You'd think after 21 years together, sheesh....

I heart Brian  That is "The Board" actually a drafting board I think. We had one growing up, very very useful. You can use it for a little desk for writing and drawing, a place to put on nailpolish, play with playdough, doodle your loved ones names etc... After I got married, I told my mom how much I missed "the board" so, for a housewarming gift, she bought me one! At first it looked much too new, but it's aged well over the years! And, since the first "board" had my Teresa hearts Brian on it, I had to put it on this one too!
Aaahh...the board. I changed boyfriends so often, I had to write "I  _____" in nail polish so I could quickly erase it with a little nail polish remover. You know, I don't have a board. :sad2:

Cute bows and what a beautiful model! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I haven't got a single PM about the Minnie Dot fabric. Are you all good on Minnie Dot fabric? I want to clarify that this is almost 2 yards of totally free Minnie Dot to anyone who hasn't been able to find it. I'll even happily pay for shipping. I want every little girl to have a Minnie Dot outfit if she (and her mommy) so desires.

Liv4Disney- I got your fabric mailed out today. Columbus Day was Monday and then it came back because it needed an extra stamp.

Help please (again!)!

I bought the fabric stabilizer to do an applique on a shirt for Halloween but I'm not sure how to go about using it, or in what order to do the applique. If anyone has suggestions I'd appreciate it.

I have a black long sleeve shirt on which I would like to applique a purple square with a white skeleton face on it (also cut out and appliqued). I am going to use the satin stitch as the skeleton's lips and buttons for the eyes with a real bow for her head (this is an appliqued knock-off of a Target shirt we had last year). Where do I put the stabilizer, under the purple square? What order should I go about this too, do I applique the square onto the shirt, then the face onto the purple and then the lips? I will put the buttons on last regardless of the order. Or is it reverse of this applique the lips, then the skeleton on the purple and finally the purple onto the shirt? Also, where do I put the stabilizer? My assumption is to put it under the purple square. Do I have to iron on the stabilizer like you iron on the wonder under? I bought the tear-away kind. How hard do you have to tear? It won't pull the applique off will it? I watched the applique video on YCMT but I got lost on this part, she just pinned it to the shirt. Is that right? Thanks for your help!

I've got one more tulle twirl skirt to finish before I start on the shirts and it's finally getting cool enough for the girls to wear their Halloween creations so I need to kick it into high gear!

Ok, I'll try to attempt to show how I made the Buzz spiral sleeves on Lyddys outfit!

First I took the piece that I had leftover from making the spirals.
th_010_640x480.jpg

Trace the outside edge of this onto some paper to form your pattern piece
th_016_640x480.jpg

Here's what it will look like
th_018_640x480.jpg

Take your leftover piece and put the outside edge on your pattern piece. Move it around until you like the width of it (this one is a little skinny, I would make it wider than this)
th_020_640x480.jpg

Trace the edge onto your pattern paper
th_022_640x480.jpg

Voila! A pattern piece that looks a lot like a banana!
th_026_640x480.jpg

Cut out your pattern piece
th_028.jpg

Place your pattern onto your leftover fabric piece, line up the outside edge and then you don't have to cut that side. Cut out enough pieces to be able to cut out your sleeve pattern.
th_030_640x480.jpg

Sew all of your pieces together, just like you did your skirt. Of course, your piece will be fabric and not paper like I'm showing here. :lmao: And there will probably be a lot more pieces to this, I just got tired of drawing the bananas.
th_033_640x480.jpg

I then pressed it.

Now, place your sleeve pattern onto the fabric. Place the inside part of your pattern (the part betwen "place on fold" and the diagonal cut) on the straight edge of your fabric. I had to sort of stretch it straight, since it had a tendency to curl. (you can't see this in the picture since paper doesn't stretch well)I also trimmed the tops so that the tops of the spirals were all even. (This will be the edge that you put the elastic through if you are making a paesant blouse)
th_035_640x480.jpg

Cut out your sleeve piece.
th_038_640x480.jpg

Your sleeve (although yours will be twice this big, this is only half a sleeve)
th_040_640x480.jpg

I then put a hem around the outside edges of the sleeve.

Sew your sleeve onto the bodice
th_042_640x480.jpg

All done!

you should be a teacher! Great instructions and drawings!

I just got the cutest set of Minnie bows in the mail from a fellow Diser! My model is in school right now but I ouldn't wait to share them so I got a substitute!! DD will wear these with her decoupage minnie skirt set.

He actually kept them on while he ate lunch. Silly boy!!

Great pictures for you to use when his future girlfriend comes over! Blackmail him once he gets to middle school to frame and hang it! He'll be at your mercy!

I LOVE THIS THREAD!!!!!!!!!!!!!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!! I will be back with tons of pictures. I have never noticed this before!

:welcome: I told you it was cool!!!

And I need a little encouragement- I made, well mostly made a pillow case top for DD when I showed it to DH he kinda looked at me like what is that supposed to be- They just don't understand, but it still bums me out when I am excited about something I made :goodvibes and he brings me down :guilty:

I just have to do the bias tape or ribbon on the sleeve edges.

I think it turned out pretty good except I made the top hem to big and had to cut bigger sleeve holes, still looks fine. Glad I tried it, it was pretty easy and forgiving when I made a mistake. I'm going to make a little skirt too- I got sucked into making a custom for animal kingdom, your guys were great inspiration- thanks for giving me another project to finish before our trip in 20 days :rotfl: :rotfl: :scared1:

Our dh's never get it!!! But we are here for you, you can do it! And we want pics when you're done!

I am no pro, but I've asked tons of questions and I hope some of this helps you...
1 - The stabilizer always goes on the back of your project (shirt, dress, etc.)
2 - You should use Heat'n'Bond or some other type of fusible stuff and iron-on the purple square then the face on top of it - If it were me I would not applique the square before putting on the face, but someone with more experience might tell you that it's ok... this I'm not sure about.
3 - If you use the tearaway stabilizer, you just gently tear it away after you're all finished. The stitches should not come out, just be gentle.

Details please!

And to bribe you, I will tell you that one time when I was 16 I went out to get my horse from the pasture. He ran and hid behind this mean mare. She turned her rear to me as I tried to get around her and ended up kicking me and I landed in the mud. I had a horseshoe-shaped bruise on my butt!

First, YOU DON'T HAVE A BOARD??????!!!!!!?????! WHAT THE WORD!!!! (as Tessa use to say it) I will drop a little hint to our mother about THAT!

And, gee thanks Heather for sharing that story! What next? The flag football elasticwaisted sweatpants fiasco????

I STILL heart Brian!

you should be a teacher! Great instructions and drawings!
Aww, thanks!!! You are too kind.
Now I'm rolling in the floor!!!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh yeah DEANN????? Well, just for that! I hope you take a great big ole swig of Beverly next time you go to EPCOT CENTER (YEAH! I STILL call it EPCOT CENTER WHAT OF IT!):rotfl: :lmao: :rotfl2:

Details please!

Ok, that's pretty funny! I'll tell you, but Deann is beinng mean so don't tell her ok?

I was sewing my wedding dress, and had to trim some threads. So, I was sitting on the couch with those little but very very pointy kind of scissors. I got up to put the dress away, and then went to sit down on the part of the couch that is the crack of the cushions (because that's the kind of NICE person I am, I took the rotten cushion crack part of the couch so no one else had to!). Well, no sooner had I plopped myself down than I LEAPED right back up! Oh my gosh, it really really hurt! I ran upstairs to the bathroom (we lived in a tri-level so there were only 7 steps) and tried to look in the mirror to see what the heck had happened! It was in the cheek part of my bum, in case you were wondering! It was Heather I believe who found the scissors in the crack of the couch. This was about a month before my wedding by the way. So, my Mom takes me to the doctor, who LAUGHED while she was stitching me up! ACTUALLY LAUGHED OUT LOUD as I lay there with my butt exposed to the world while she stitched it up! She said, "I don't have to be very careful, because really, who is going to see this?" To which my Mom (hmm, what was my Mom doing in there with me?) replied, "Well, she is getting married in a few weeks, so someone WILL be seeing it." Which only made the doctor laugh more. (jerky doctor)

So, there you go, the story of the scar on my butt. I also have a Zorro shaped scar on my leg from the time I ran into a tractor. But, that is another story.

bsusanmb - Your pics of little Nicholas just broke my heart. He looks like he is doing great now and the looks on your DD and Dsil faces just show how much love they have for him.

Ladies I need help. My dd7 has to be a yellow jacket for her school musical. They have to wear T-shirts and Jeans but you can accessorize the rest of the costume. I have a yellow T-shirt that I was going to put black ribbon on to make the yellow jacket body and then pipe cleaners for the antennas but what can I do for the wings? They can't stand out too much because 109 kids will all be standing together and on risers. I have black tulle. Any suggestions on how to attach, shape, etc some wings? Thanks for any ideas.
My Target had white angel wings for $1 the other day in the dollar spot. Buy the cheap wings and cover them with the black tulle. I wouldn't even strip off the white - just cover right over it.

That sounds like a great idea to me!

Absolutely beautiful! The outfits are great too! :lmao: I cracky myself up! I really like how you used the black background with the princesses! Very cute!

HeatherSue, you crack me up! :rotfl:

You must tell us "How the scissors met your sisters bottom!"

Well, we survived a 30 degree drop in temp when a huge storm arrived early this morning! Today the girls had their hayride (for pre-school) and were wearing the twirl skirts and shirts I finally finished. I took some pics early this morning while it was wet and still a little dark. Not sure if they would come out, I took some more a little while ago....with the treasured pumpkins they picked out today. So here they are if you can take looking at yet one more outfit with the same halloween material :rotfl2:

Is there a photosession limit here???? :confused3 :rotfl: :rotfl: Next I have to make DD9's skirt and something for myself with the left over scraps! :rolleyes1

I'm sure what NCTWINSMOM meant to say was that Heather Crackys her up. CLearly it was a typo!:rotfl2:

Everybody's clothes are great! You all have inspired me. I stole DM's sewing machine, its not like she was using it. I am going to learn to sew and make DD some outfits for when we go at the end of March. So I have plenty of time, I hope. I bought a bunch of fabric on Monday at Joann's. If the first 2 outfits turn out. I might make more, we'll see. Thanks for getting my creative juices flowing.

SO cute- the girls and the outfits- Did you bling the shirt or buy it that way??
We are going to the pumpkin patch this weekend. It will be fun having the kids pick out their pumpkins.

Susan your grandson is beautiful. I know not a great word for a boy ... but he is ;). How wonderful that he has been such a blessing to your family as your family has been to him. :goodvibes: Thank you for sharing your families story.

My question for you guys is when you are making a tutu or a tulle dress do you find it easier to make them using the tulle "ribbon" or just regular tulle off the bolt. If I buy it off the bolt do I cut it into strips? Also any ideas on how much I need to buy? I am going to make the tulle "dresses" that you see on voldemort. Length may be down to the knee or just below the girls are all going to wear leggings underneath and a leotard or undershirt.

It is probably easier to use the 6" wide type but, cheaper for me to buy it on the bolt. I cut it along the seam where it is folded on the bolt with a wrapping paper cutter, the kind with a razer blade inside. Then I fold it over on itself so I am cutting 4 lengths at a time and cut 6" strips using my rolling fabric cutter, it looks better than scissors which leave jagged edges. If I didn't have those cutters I would probably go with the ribbon type.

I use 5 yards for a regular length tutu. If you want something longer you would either waste a lot of tulle or you would have to do some creative cutting. I would probably get the ribbon type in that case.

HeatherSue, you crack me up! :rotfl:

You must tell us "How the scissors met your sisters bottom!"
I'm her sister, look up. :)

I'm getting tired of being the butt of all Heather's jokes though!

:lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl: Sorry, I just had to say it!

Well, you are very welcome!! Be careful, fabric buying is very addictive!
