Gosh...can I borrow your daughters hair....LOL

I have been finding it hard to find the time. I'm a single mom, and in nursing school full time, and sell my creations..to live..LOL. So it's hard to find the balance between making things for others, and for yourself, in addition to studying...LOL...studying...what's that...:confused3
And just for the record...my clothes like living in the dryer...they told me so this morning...:lmao:

O.k., here's my sewing question...........

How do you guys stay motivated to keep sewing all of the time and who's doing your laundry while you sew?????????????:confused3

Hmm, mostly I do laundry when I have fabric that needs to be prewashed. LOL Since DD started kindergarten, I've found that the morning is my favorite time to sew. I can sit at the machine for 3 hours without interruption. Laundry and other chores (when they get done) can wait until she's home because they're usually things that I can stop and restart as needed. When I sew, though, it just works better for me if I can keep sewing. I still sew at night after DD is in bed but I'm trying to cut back on that so I'm not staying up until 3am quite so often.

I had my serger serviced and I am so excited because they were able to fix it! I "ran over" my zipper foot about a year and half ago and it totally jammed up. I also ordered a ruffler foot for my sewing machine that they got in. Hopefully my new tools will get me psyched up to get working on the 500 projects that I have bought fabric for!

The ruffler foot is very motivating for me. I finally took some time to experiment with sewing and ruffling at the same time. Up until then, I'd ruffle first, pin and then stitch the pieces together. That was quicker than pulling basting thread but still took more time than I knew doing it all in one step would be. I haven't gotten it perfected because I want to be able to get seams to line up but it's getting there.

Ok here is a picture of my daughter in her Ariel creation. I hope this works my computer is NOT cooperating this morning!

I love the top! DD has an outfit out of this fabric too, but your top is cuter than hers.

Quick question for those of you who do all these adorable clothes:

I'm going to have a friend make me a tote bag and I'm looking for some Mickey Mouse themed ribbon (3/4 inch or wider). Do any of you know where I could find such a thing? I've been googling and calling craft stores all morning with no luck.

TIA!

:flower:

I can usually find Disney ribbon by the yard at Hobby Lobby.

Here is the 2nd skirt:

I love it! It's looks like a piece of candy corn. Too cute!

I did laundry for 2 hours yesterday, so today I get to sew. :cool1:

So cute! I may have to CASE that one. My DD loves Ariel. Love your DDs curly hair! All of my kids have curly hair, but we chopped DS8s hair short years ago.

What? Which dept? I've never seen it there!

Laundry? Hmmm, what is that? Oh yeah, that's what has taken over my bathroom floor!!!!!! :rotfl: My policy is this, I only do laundry on sunny days so I can hang them on the clothesline. I'm too cheap to run my dryer so I can save $$ for WDW! When it rains, that's when I do socks and baby clothes that are too tedious for the clothesline!

And just for the record...my clothes like living in the dryer...they told me so this morning...:lmao:

That's what my socks told me this morning!! :rotfl2:

Thanks!!! I am glad you can't see it up close! You probably wouldn't think that!

We love Ariel here tooo! Our fave of the moment, well, her and Belle! Thanks, we always get compliments on the hair, but if anyone had to comb that mess, they may think again!:scared: HAHA!

It's in the fabric dept where they keep all the other by the yard ribbon, usually on the endcap of the ribbon shelf. They don't have a lot, but I've seen princesses & Mickey I know. They usually have Hello Kitty too.

She came up with that design! Yay her! I like that!

I cut some more of my Minnie dot last night and I could have sworn I heard some little blue train chanting... "I think you can, I think you can" It was weird! BTW, I'm making dd2 a pair of pants, so wish me luck!
QUOTE]good luck:wizard:

And I just keeping making more outfits, so who needs to do laundry!!!!:rotfl: HAHA

Gosh...can I borrow your daughters hair....LOL
sure after i can :rolleyes1 . she has a ton and i wish i had it

all the other outfits are great also i lost some of my post sorry ...

I stayed up till 3 am last night w/ my night owl (otherwise know as Princess Liliana;) ) and finished cutting the patches for her patchwork tiered twirl skirt (maybe dress, I'm reserving the right to change my mind...) As for laundry.. there is in the middle of my washroom a monument I like to call Mt. Washmore. Basically if you've got clean underwear and socks you're ok:thumbsup2 They wear uniforms to school so DS can wear the same thing 3 days in a row, as long as he doesn't spill something "noticeable" on it.:rotfl: :rotfl: Who cares, as long as he doesn't smell and he's got clean drawers!! and we live in FL. so worse comes to worst I just let her run around in a diaper all day. That's terrible.. I would never do that.. but she has taken to wearing PJ's all the time, even if I make her put clean ones on. Though she'd wear her AK twirl top every day if I'd let her.
...t.

OK real quick- speaking of laundry..... I was in my basement sorting the pile and I tripped and fell!! so usually not such a big deal but I put my hands out to catch myself and I jammed my wrist and Broke a bone way up in my elbow!!!! I had to wear a sling for 5 weeks. The funny part of it is that now my son tells people that I broke my arm in the laundry :rotfl: I bet you didn't know that the laundry could cause bodily harm :rotfl2: And of course when people asked me what happened and I told them, they told me not to do laundry anymore, I said sounds great when are YOU coming over to do it for me :rotfl:

Off to school now.....

Oh you poor thing... that's it, I'm not doing the laundry anymore. I don't have health insurance and can't afford a trip to the ER that could have EASILY been prevented. For Christmas my cousin (just joined the marines and newly on his own) asked for socks from everyone. He said his goal was to get 365 pair so he would just wear one pair every day and not worry about clean or dirty or missing socks. I thought this sounded like a good plan. We always get a TON of socks at christmas (though not that many) so I stopped trying to match old ones and find missing ones and threw out all the existing socks in our drawers and started fresh w/ our christmas stash!!! and I have to say, it's a good thing Christmas is getting close:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

I got my model to cooperate, somewhat. So, here's what I've been working on for the last week or 2 (I can't figure out how some of you whip them up so quickly)!

Wow, you are off to such a great start!!! Your outfits are great!! You'll have to keep us posted more often! Thanks for sharing them. PS I love your daughters name. Layla and Lila were both names I suggested before we decided on Liliana.

Thanks so much! And I have to say- that I have added your Liliana to my "wish list" in case we ever are blessed with another baby!

Hey Ladies,

I have been reading your thread for probably the last 100 pages and today I decided to jump in and post.

I have a 2 year old princess who loves to dress girly and all things Disney. I went to Wal-Mart and was able to find the Minnie polka dot fabric today. Bought all of one roll and about to kick myself that I didn't buy the other one.

So now I have the fabric, but am in serious need of ideas. I would like to make my daughter a cute outfit with the material, but I am fairly new to sewing. Anyone have some simple patterns or ideas that I can start with?

Thanks.

As far as ideas, if you look on the first page there is a link to pictures to all of the clothes that have been shown on this thread. I wouldn't worry about not buying the other roll of material, a whole bolt is a lot of material! I like the site www.youcanmakethis.com for patterns. I know there are some sewing for dummies patterns out there too that are for beginners. Also on the first page of the thread is a link to free patterns. Good luck and be sure to show us some pictures!
