I didn't wanna have take sides...But I happen to have the down low on this. The correct order is Go ARMY beat navy. I'm sorry I had to be the one to inform all of you Navy fans. But as an Army vet I'm SURE that's the correct cheer.

And I thought we were friends. Oh well, it was nice while it lasted!!!

My three year old cannot say Go Navy without yelling BEAT ARMY!!! It is hysterical. I can be anywhere in the house and if I say Go Navy I hear DD yell . . . GO NAVY BEAT ARMY!!!!

Hi, Melanie! Welcome! The sources mentioned earlier for the fabrics is a good start. Walmart has a wonderful little machine from Brother which is like $186.00, it is the CS600i. It has some very nice features such as the one step buttonhole, Needle Stop in the Down Position (Helpful with doing appliques, turning corners etc.) I have one a bought a few years ago and I love it...I am even thinking of getting another one as my back-up should the original need to go in for service. Nana

Finally able to respond! I don't know why it wouldn't let me earlier. I have the Costco version of this machine and I love it! I am also a beginner and I would highly recommend it, it's not too terribly expensive and it has great features. I think the Costco version is around $10 cheaper so if you're a member check it out. Ours has them in stock at the store so you can save if you buy it there as opposed to online (their online price includes shipping I think). Good luck deciding!

Please, please, please do not bring conversations about selling clothes on any auction sites onto this thread. Sales conversations are against DISboard policy. This has been discussed many times but since there are new posters finding this thread all the time I do have to keep repeating it.

These types of comments can result in warnings or infractions.

Hi! I am new here, but I have been reading this thread for about a week now. I LOVE all of the outfits on here. I just started sewing maybe three weeks ago. We are going to disney the week after Thanksgiving and I am trying to make some outfits for my dds age 4 and 10mo. Does anyone know of any cute skirt patterns? I did attempt a twirl skirt that I did with Ariel materiel. I made one for each of my dds. They turned out pretty good for a first attempt. But know I am looking for something different. If anyone has any ideas or patterns that I could use please let me know. Thanks!

I'm sure people have responded to you already, but I'll add to it! I love the patterns at www.youcanmakethis.com. I am a beginning sewer and I have made two of the skirt patterns on that site. Good luck!

This has been posted as a sticky on the top of the Family board, but I thought I would post it again here --

Yes, This is a FRIENDLY Reminder About Advertising/Referrals/Etc

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This happens every once in a while that we have a rash of posts that go against our DIS Guidelines for Posting in regards to Advertising and it seems to be happening now on a bunch of different boards. So it seems as if it is time for a FRIENDLY reminder about our Guidelines.

Here is Guideline #1:
1. FOR SALE For sale ads are strictly prohibited on any of the DISboards. Anyone posting such ads will have their post deleted. This same policy applies to links to your ebay/auction listings . "For sale" posts includes requests for donations. If you are participating in or wish to promote a charitable event, please email the webmaster at webmaster@wdwinfo.com for permission first. (You will be asked to provide proof that the organization is legitimate.) Until your request is approved, we ask that you do not post about it on the boards.

Here is Guideline #5 :

Quote:
5. ADVERTISING: The advertisers/sponsors who you see on the DIS are carefully chosen. While we welcome discussion of them as well as other businesses that you have information or questions about, if its determined that you are using the DIS to promote a commercial venture, you will lose your posting privileges. In addition, links to the company's website will be blocked. Also note that we do not want the boards to be used for solicitations or for requesting referrals.

This includes asking others for referrals.

This includes posting referral links.

This includes asking people to PM or email you for additional information.

This includes linking to your eBay auction.

This includes posting that you have 4 unused park hoppers, but cannot get to Disney this fall, and you really need the money, so what can you do with them.

This includes posting that you know someone who makes handy dandy lists for keeping track of Refrig swaps and you can see her product at MyLists.com. Or you can see them on eBay by checking out THIS auction.

This includes showing everyone the lovely containers you made for holding antiseptic lotion and asking them whether you think that they can sell. Or how much you should charge for them. Or if you should wait until cold season to sell them.

This list in not inclusive, but I think that you get the idea. (At least I hope so.)

We moderators (and many posters) have been around the block a time or two and know the "tricks" that people use to try to work around the rule. (Although I know that for almost everyone here you are really just showing the beautiful stuff you have made for your own kids.)

Please let's just let the DIS be (personal) advertising and solicitation free.

Besides, it's the rule. (And you CAN get infraction points for going against the rule.)

Since you bring that up I have a question. That applies just if we are the sellers correct? We can say hey there is this cute outfit on :wizard: check it out! Or is that not allowed? I was just curious and figured I'd ask since others have wondered the same. Thanks! :dance3:

We went to a party at AK last night for the release of the Jungle book. Here is DD in her dress. I made her cabbage patch kid a matching dress, but did not get any good pics of the two of them together.

Good question! I personally can't create anyting sellable but I sure do look on the auction sites at other peoples stuff and I don't know if I can comment on it. Thanks!

I've been scrapbooking this weekend so I had to catch up (I was last on when we were at 1000 pages). I am still trying to finish my Disney album from 4/2007! Yikes!

Beautiful clothes everyone! I commented on some but I wanted to comment on all b/c they are so gorgeous!

Susan, what a touching story about your daughter. My thoughts and prayers are with you and her family.

Goodnight everyone!

HeatherSue finished a My Little Pony Skirt with that pattern. She said it was pretty easy, until you get to the hem! Which takes awhile! She's hasn't been sewing long (two months?) and hers turned out great too!
