We leave tomorrow!!!!!!:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:
DH has 2 days of business meetings so our first Park day will be Sunday!:wizard:

Oh my gosh, I just LOVE that dress!!! I remember someone on here once said, that if you love a fabric, showcase it! And, you really did that well! Your daughter looks beautiful in it!

I am about to start my kids Halloween costumes. My son is going to be Jack Skellington, he's picked out his fabric and I found a boys suit pattern that I am going to have to do a Frankenpattern for (I hope I used Frankenpattern right). My daughter (the 2 year old diva she is) has changed her mind about being Sally (to match her brother) since seeing Barbie The Island Princess. Here is where I need the help......

Here is a pic of Barbie The Island Princess:
BarbieIslandPrincess.jpg

I have found the fabric that I want to use for the dress and the pattern McCall's M4888 (just gotta wait until the McCall's patterns go .99 cents again). What I am having trouble with is the peacock feathers that she has attached to her dress. I looked at JoAnn's & Hancock's yesterday for big peacock feathers but no luck. I did find some small ones at JoAnn's for $1.00 each and lots of different kinds/colors of feathers, so I can make my own. Anybody have any ideas on where to find peacock feathers and how to attach them to the dress afterwards? TIA!

My daughter has decided to be Barbie Island Princess as well. She LOVES the movie. Sadly, I am buying the dress from Target or Walmart. It's only $16. I just can't make it for that!

Don't feel bad. I bought DD the HSM Cheerleading dress for Halloween. It was 12 bucks! And it comes with pom poms. I can't make it for that price. (And as DD pointed out-it spins :cool1:

am I the only one who doesn't like cracker barrel. I guess I've only eaten there a couple of times and found out the first time that I don't like sourdough french toast YUCK!! and the 2nd time that I do not like their oatmeal!!!

...t.

I couldn't stand the place until just recently. All my girlfriends in college would go on Sunday morning and I would just hang back....

Now I love it...The food is good but my favorite reason to like the place is it's the only restaurant we go to where my youngest son will order something other than chicken and fries....:rotfl:

:offtopic: Ok, totally OT, but I'm a little upset! My husband was out hunting this morning, and when he got back to our only-basic-coverage-insurance van, the window was smashed out!!!!! GRRRRRRRRRR Someone took the hitch off the back, and then smashed the window and stole his waders, and possibly some other things, Brian was so upset he couldn't talk much. He is at the police station now reporting it. WHY do people do things like that???? I have no idea how much a new window is going to cost for the van, but I am guessing it isn't going to be cheap.

Waders????Why on earth? I'm sorry that happened though...

I used patterns from YCMT website for both these pieces. I had the Tinkerbell purple and green fabric.

 Susan

She is just soo cute. I'm enjoying all the pics of her at Disney!

Im actually right along with you. I don't like it at all. I used to like their ribs, but then the redid the menu and didn't put them on there. Also, they tend to be a bit to prejudice for our family. (my husband is black and kids are mixed) We can never get a good table, good service, or good food.

Didn't they get sued about this once?? For shame on them!

I've looked at the costume online but I'm afraid it will be itchy and I'm not digging that it is short. I went to JoAnn's and I think I can probably make the dress for around $25 (not a definite) and it be full length. It won't have the sparkly material but I don't think she'll notice.

$16 is a great buy. The ones that I was seeing online (haven't even looked in the stores) are between $35-$40. I think I can make it for less than that.

She just gets cuter and cuter! This is my favorite. I am going to start that pattern pretty soon. Any tips???

How did she like the Lion King?

The top was really very simple to make...just make sure that you take your time and cut the pieces perfectly and then take your time to sew the seams correctly so that the front and back match when you put them together. It is really a beautiful top.

The skirt I didn't like until I added a lot more tulle...it was too skimpy with the directions given IMHO...so I went back and gathered a lot more and added it, and kept is at a length just above the ruffle on the bottom....just my opinion...it was each to make, of course....

We got so many comments on Makayla's customs...particularly from the CM and the characters...I just have enjoyed making them and dressing her up...like a real live doll to dress LOL

Lion King is one of Makayla's favorites, but Nemo is now...she loves that song "Not my Dad" she sings all the time, "Just keep swimming...Together we swim together...Not my Dad" It is hysterical...she is very dramatic and really puts her whole self into it...what a hoot!

Ok, we made it to Lion King for a second time, ate lunch and then headed to Nemo the musical...and it just poured and poured....but we got into Nemo...and it was just wonderful as usual...

I made this one from patterns on YCMT...made that patch skirt and attached it to an infant pair of shortalls...I totally cut off the front and back and sewed the skirt on...I had ripped off the front pocket and intended to applique a Minnie head...but ran out of time.

The shirt was a cheapo tee shirt from Kmart - 3 in a pack, cut off the sleeves and added angel wings from the YCMT pattern.

The shoes from Gymboree and she scuffed them up the first day she wore them! Head gear is what she called "My funny lookings"....

bsusanmb:Your granddaughter is so cute- such a little ham!!!

My little girl says cheese whenever I bring out the camera- she reminds me of her when I see your pictures. All her customs are so darling!!
Almost makes me wish I had MORE time before our trip to make her some cute little strip/Patchwork/twirl skirts. If only I could sew as well as all of you!! Or even applique!! My grammy is helping me make a tinkerbell costume for MNSSHP. I am making some Iron-on shirts. I am much better at taking pictures and scrapbooking- that sort of thing. Maybe as the kids get older I will explore my "sewing side" and have beautiful outfits to share with all of you- You guys give me inspiration!!

What a cutie!!! I just LOVE seeing her hair down like this! I love the curls! She looks gorgeous in everything! You did such a wonderful job making her all those outfits.

I'm glad to hear you guys are having fun!

ETA: Arminda picked out some of those headbands with the bobber things on them when we went in May. Hers were Minnie Princesses. They make me chuckle everytime she wears them!

Hmmm...I need help! First, I can't decide if I want to change DD out of her "park" clothes & into her princess dresses for her princess meals. I am wondering, where can I change her before the meals? We are having dinner at Akershus on Sunday & Lunch in the Castle on Wed. Are there restrooms nearby? I know it will be too hot to wear those dresses all day so iwas hoping to change her for the pics. Any advice?

Help someone tell me how to do these quotes correctly!

anyway, I didn't put Makayla's princess dresses on her until we had dinner. We came back to the room to change. Or I would take it with me and change in any restroom. There are restrooms close by to every restaurant. Her Aurora dress has long sleeves, and it is made of satin...I didn't want her to ruin it by walking in the park. Her Snow White is shorter, but it is not a custom and it gets itchy after a while...so she will only wear it to go to dinner.

Susan

PS thanks for all of the lovely comments about Makayla, and her customs...and I am really enjoying getting to see everyone else's creations...they are all really super!

I'm sure this was already answered, but if you are having lunch at CRT, there is a restroom in the castle so you can change. I had to do the same thing.

hey everybody,

I found a new fabric website that has beautiful designer fabric. The Michael Miller fabric was cheaper there than anywhere else I've seen but they have some really expensive fabric from Oilily (can't afford their clothes or their fabric apparently $21/yard!!! ). All of the fabric was beautiful and they have some European patterns for sale also that look like the patterns I see some people using for their stuff they make on Ebay. I just like to look at the beautiful fabric, maybe one of these days I'll feel up to purchasing some of the expensive stuff but for now it's Wal-Mart, Hancocks, and JoAnn's for me. I can't imagine a hack like me using fabric that nice!

Oh, I see I didn't put the website in my description, sorry!! The website is fabricbliss.com.

I am really enjoying sewing thanks to the inspiration of sew many on here and I was wondering what brand everyone has for their sergers. I know a while back some people bought the Singer serger and I was wondering what opinions everyone had about it. I have a neighbor that has a top of the line Bernina serger but she spent a lot of money on it and I really can't imagine doing that but she loves it and says it threads itself? Also, will a serger work with denim? Thanks for all of the help!

I need some help. I need the directions for a peasant top. I thought I saw a link to one here. I have looked all through TeresaJoy’s pattern link. I think I am overlooking it. I do have to say that there is a lot of stuff there. It is very well put together. I can tell it took a lot of time to do all of that. Thank you!!!
I am attempting to CASE the clown tutu outfit from :wizard: . I want a peasant top with no corset.
I would really appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.
Thanks in advance :goodvibes

Here's the one I use, and it's my favorite so far.

Costume fabric at JA is 40% off right now. I think the sale runs til the 6th.

I have the Singer serger from Wally's. I love it so so so much. I do not think I could ever go back to not using one. I love that I can throw things I make in the washing machine and not worry. My serger was around $190. I was planning on buying one for $400 down the line. I also have a Singer machine from Target. It was $130. I would not trade it for anything other machine!!! I loved it so much when they were on sale I bought one for my Mom.

Even though I do not have high tech machines my clothes are turning out pretty cute. I guess I am a Singer girl.

Thank you so much. I think I overlooked it because I was looking at all of the other great stuff. I am going to try the first one tomorrow. I will post pics when I get it finsihed.

I know Steph allready helped you out, but I just wanted to say thanks! Heather helps me organize it.

You are welcome. There is so much great stuff on there. I spent several hours just looking at everything today. I am going to give the top a try tomorrow and I can not wait. Thanks again, and I am very sorry to hear about your husbands truck.

Someone smashed my window at my kids’ school last year. They took my purse. I was literally out of my car for less than 5 minutes. They only got a few dollars and I canceled my credit card within minutes. They did get the diamond earrings my DH gave me to wear in our wedding, and 9 gymbucks! They likely never saw the earrings and what would a thief do with gymbucks? So it all just inconvenienced me and left me heartbroken over the earrings. It is so sad that people have to ruin the things we work so hard for.... Good luck with the insurance. I hope they cover everything.

I also wanted to add that I made one of the long tutu fairy costumes for Katie today. She loved it. She came home and saw it and said "tutu Mommy"? It was so cute. She put it on and looked at me and said "picture" then went to everyone in the house and prompted them to tell her she was pretty. She twirled in it and smiled the entire time. Then she refused to let me take it off, and had a tantrum when I did. Being a princess is so hard:) I will post the pictures tomorrow. It came out really cute.

I hope you feel alot better very soon!
I LOVE the new siggie pic! They look gorgeous.:cutie:
OH! How did your little surprise for your DD go?
Blessings and prayers to recover quickly. I was sick also after we returned on the 10th...we all got sick down at WDW...NOT fun!
The surprise worked great! I will post pics of her in the spa when she finds out she's going to get a massage when I get them. I'm sorry to hear you returned sick also. It wasn't fun to come home sick, but there is a virus going around right now down there. I pray no one else gets it. And I hope you are all feeling much better now.

I'm so sorry about the window. Things like that always seem to happen when you arent fully covered. :sad2: I hope they find who did it, and I don't know why people do things like that.

This outfit is so cute!

Not Disney but DD LOVES it!!!
(excuse the after bath hair)
I can't get her to take it off!
The "skirt" is actually a skort from the W store. I did the ruffle, tie and shirt.

Have a great trip!!!

Has anyone come up with any kick butt halloween costumes for this year? I need something for my 3yo dd. We always do the town costume contest.

I keep coming back to those fairy costumes that are full length tulle. Has anyone seen directions for them?

What is the town costume contest...is this something your city does? Our's has them, but they don't offer any really good prizes...LOL
