There have been so many beautiful things posted I want to comment on. I first wanted to take the time to reply to everyone who complimented my tutu outfit and my DD's. I have been with out computer for 2 days

and now I have no phone for 7 business days

I had to dig the old desk top out of storage and hook it up so I could be connected with the world. It is not good for one mom to be stuck in the house with three kids to home school, a toddler and no contact with the outside

It was getting dangerous in here!
hi - Ive been wondering about these tu tu's - do you use the rolls of the material, or do you get it off the bolt? How do you know how much? soooo cute!!!
For this tutu I used the tulle by the yard. I do not suggest this method

The tulle is very hard to cut, and keep even. I did use a rotary cutter, which did help. The tulle on the roll was much easier to cut.
I ended up cutting this tulle 6 inches wide and 20 inches long. I wanted it to be about 10 inches long since I was going to be putting the jeans under it. I just cut as much as I had and started there. For the first tutu I made I used 4- 25-yard rolls of tulle and it was perfect. I put two layers together and the tie it to the elastic. They have both turned out very full this way.
The outfit is adorable.
You are in OHIO?!
What cheer gym does your daughter go to? If you work for the OSU games, then might it be the Cheer Center?
I used to coach cheerleading in Pickerington and also up in NE Ohio-coached for 12 years. I also judge competitions, but I am taking a long break to be home with the kids because, to coach a great cheer team, you need alot of time and I just don't have that with my 3 boys right now

. Anyway, I do know those colors to be of the Cheer Center but maybe there is another Cheer Gym near central Ohio with those colors too.
BTW, her scorpion looks fantastic!!
We are Cheer Center Stars

What gym were you at in Pickerington? Matrix!? You are not kidding about needing a lot of time to coach a great team. I think our coach would be better of to live there. Not only does he coach; he teaches classes and does several privates (including ours) every week.
Oh, but the fulls are awesome, esp the great ones!! I love X-outs and nice layout stepouts too. Good for her! You'll have to keep me updated on how she is doing!!
I just learned about X outs

I thought I would get a break after fulls. She is so determined to get all of these skills it just amazes me. At the beginning of last season she fell at tryouts doing her back handspring. Now she does multiple handsprings, tucks, standing tucks, layouts, front walkovers and is really close to her full. She is a beautiful tumbler, she has so much power she kind of soars in the air while she flips. Her layout is my favorite to watch for some reason. Her coach said it is as close to a perfect layout as she can get.
What a cutie! I like that the cast coordinates!
And, Yes! You're darn tootin' I would have cut the tulle for my daughter!

I laughed when I saw my named mentioned!
I don't think I am ready for my baby to do anything remotely close to your daughter's scorpion. Looks great though!
I never even doubted that you would have cut that tulle with a smile

Well, at least started with a smile. There was a lot of tulle!
I was not ready for Leanne to do these things either. However, she was and once they hit a certain age they get things set in their little heads and there is no stopping them. It happened before I knew it anyway.
I love her face and the colors of the shirt, tutu and jeans. Purple is my absolute fav color! How smart of you to get a matching cast!!
It was all Katies doing

When the lady who put her cast on came in the room with color samples she handed them to Katie and asked what color she wanted. With out missing a beat Katie said "purple".
I would have preferred something that coordinated better with the new fall line at Gymboree
Her scorpion is gorgeous. I am a cheerleading judge. I coached for 9 years before the girls came along. What level does her team compete at? Tell her good luck on her full.
Thank you so much. She has worked so hard on that his summer. She based last year. This is her second year of competitive cheer. She competes at a level 3 youth right now. They are considering going to a level 4 since more than 50% of the girls have a standing tuck. So Leanne has been working on doubling down as well. He coaches keep saying she is a natural

What company do you judge? Jamfest is my favorite.
Your tutu custom is too too cute!!! what a great job...and the cuffs on the pants....I saw instructions to do this at Joann's using ribbon and velcro...is that what you did?
My DD was a cheerleader and those stunts have always scared me. She was a base and got kicked in the face, mouth so many times. And when you think of her holding another girl on her shoulders and the pressure on her spine...there I go again, being a nurse....but your daughter's position is just perfect....I miss those days....
Susan
Thanks for the compliments on Katies outfit. I didnt really have instructions on the pants. I just kind of winged it! What I did was cut the ribbon to the correct length (I doubled it), then I pinned it in place and stitched it on with my machine. I then added the top ribbon that went around the leg, in a pattern I liked. They were so easy. She wore them to all of Leanne's cheer comps last year and I had people stop me all of the time to ask where got them.
Cheer stunts scare me to death also. I really do not get to see DD "fly" a lot. They have closed practices, so I can't really even watch there. I think the true fear will come at the competitions. I remember how nervous I was with her being a base. I can imagine it will be 10X's worse with her in the air. She did get hurt a few times as a base, but in level 2 mini there was not a lot more than a basket toss.
I also wanted to say that Makayla's outfits are just beautiful. It looks like your family is having a wonderful time on vacation.
Thanks again everyone for the thoughtful comments on my customs and my kids. It is always so nice to get such warm feed back.
