Totally OT, but does anyone know how to do princess hair. You know the bun that is perfectly turned under? I'm having some trouble! LOL

2nd try on the AG doll picture, sorry it's so big. :goodvibes

While we are on the subject - what color tights would everyone put with this costume? I'm thinking either red or back with white stripes. She'll wear black high tops.

I vote for red/white too.

I finished the dress I wanted to make for DD for Ohanas....I love it  A special thanks to teresajoy for sending me this Lilo fabric! You were so nice to do that for me!!!!

I love that!!!! I also got some of that fabric, but don't know exactly what to do with it yet!

OMG how cute! Ok, I need to know... was the doll clothes more difficult to make because of them being so small?

It actually wasn't harder, it was easier in a lot of ways. And it went so much quicker because it was so small. I have always been afraid of trying doll clothes. It was my first doll outfit but we bought some doll patterns because my daughter loves the matching clothes and it will be a LOT cheaper than the AG clothes which she loves. :thumbsup2

I sewed doll clothes for my DD before I started making clothes for her. They do go by much faster!!! My DD favorite is Kit. She has been telling me Santa is bringing her Kit's scooter since June! LOL Santa better come through with that one.

They don't have AG dolls, but they have My Size Barbies and Baby Alives. I thought it would be fun to make them clothes some for Christmas gifts. I have so much to finish before our trip, though, I don't know that I'll sew anything for Christmas!

Hopefully Santa won't forget because if your daughter is like mine she definitely won't forget! :)

I first bought DD a tester doll at Marshalls. She took really good care of it so she got Kit for her birthday. I too am making a "wardrobe" for Christmas. There is a really cute free doll pattern on the YCMT website.

Thanks I forgot about the eye patch. I'm kind of scared of trying the applique but I may have to.

I think you did a fabulous job!!! You know what I was thinking was perhaps a skull and crossbones done in "bling". They sell them already done and all you have to do is iron them on. Maybe try a search like "skull crossbones and rhinestones" ???? Anyways, sometimes you see them at Michaels crafts etc. Good luck...she really looks great!!!! :goodvibes

My other projects included coordinating outfits for the girls for school. DD2's pants didn't fit at all. I followed the pattern but the rise was too short and I had to add a panel at the top of the pants. I fudged the mistake...hahaha :rotfl2: I also sewed the facing the wrong way so it ended up being a collar instead :confused3 . Here it is:

Finally I made matching nap blankets with their names on it. Here is DD3.9 modeling taking a nap at school :thumbsup2

I really like the matching outfits. I may have to make some matching, personalized blankets too.

ok here is my latest creation!!!!! I love how this turned out!!!!!!!!!!

Kansas_visitors... Joann's has some cute pirate appliques or bling!! I just got small jolly roger bling to put on dd's shoes!

I think red & white tights. She can even wear them at Christmas for candy cane legs. :)

Very cute! I have a matching doll outfit planned too. Actually it's dollS. Both dds with dresses & mathcing dolls. I'm starting to think I was crazy to get myself into that one. :rotfl:

OMG how cute! Ok, I need to know... was the doll clothes more difficult to make because of them being so small?

In my experience, it depends on the doll. For bigger 'baby' or little girl dolls, it's not bad at all. For Barbie or smaller dolls (like the topsy-turvy doll I made dd4), it's a bit of a pain because they are sooooo small.

I finally got another outfit finished. Now I only have...I don't think I can count that high...to go. :lmao:

I took a too short pair of dd4's corduroy pants & cut them to shorts length. Then I added the skirt to them. Originally, this was just going to be a skirt, but then I got all inspired & it turned into a whole outfit. Of course, I had the skirt finished & had to go back & add the green ruffles to it so the shirt matched.

I am no expert here but this is what I do. First I brush out DD's hair and get it wet (damp) either with a washclothes or a wet brush. I also lightly spray hairspray in it to help catch flyaways! Then standing in front of her with DD facing me, I use a large soft brush to gather all of her hair up in a rather "high" pony tail. (By high I mean not on the back of her head but one that gathers on the top of her head.) I make sure I loop the pony tail holder several times so its pretty tight. Then I pull up on the holder so it moves away from her scalp about 3/4 inch. Then I part the hair in the pony tail and pull down on both sides so that the hair pushes the pony tail holder back down. For some reason this also causes the hair to curve under which is what you want. At this point you could use a large barreled curling iron to help firm up the curve. Hairspray again. Next use bobby pins to collect the hair up under the curve back by the pony tail. I know BBB puts a pretty hair comb to do this which would work too. Hairspray again and you are done! (BBB also sprinkles glitter all over at the end too!) Hope this makes sense. Practice makes perfect! If you can't do it, bring her to a hair salon and have them show you how to do it. Then you will only have to pay once but can do it yourself after !!!! :goodvibes :goodvibes

ok, please be kind....after staring at the pattern for 2 months now, i decided to finally take the plunge and use the ycmt layered tulle skirt. i must say, that while parts of the directions/pics were clear, some (crucial) steps were not clear at all. but it could be that im just still so novice, but in my mind thats why i need them. anyhow, w/out further delay....
my pirate princess (we went to a pirate bday party)
