OMG!!! That is TOO CUTE :goodvibes I swear this thread is causing me to re-think having children  OK I am crossing my fingers that my other DSIL has lots of little ones for me to spoil and take to WDW on a whim :yay:
and keep reminding myself that buying cute customs is not a valid reason to have kids:rotfl:

Opinions please !

Search Voldemort for Zoe custom boutique Halloween please and let me know what you think.

I am going to be late for church but I just had to check in on my favorite thread and see what my friends have made lately.

When I woke up the next morning, beside my closet was my Easter basket filled to the brim with goodies. Above it, hung an adorable dress, made from a collection of calico prints from my mothers cherished stash of fabrics. She spent the majority of the night making me a new dress to wear to church.

When I told my mother this story, about a year ago, she doesn't even remember doing it. She was so selfless of her time and of herself, that she didn't EVEN REMEMBER!! She did cry, however, as I told her about it. (As did I!)

Isn't it funny what is so important to a kid? That is the sweetest story: thank you for sharing it with us.

She is SOOO adorable! I love that outfit!! How cool that she was happy that Heather liked knowing about her tooth! Heather and I have often said how adorable we think your daughter is!

You guys are so sweet! Sometimes I am afraid I get lost on this thread and then you or Heather or t-beri say something that makes me almost cry. Thank you!

YOU- would you knock it off all ready you're making the rest of us look bad, what-do you sew in your sleep or something???

...t.

Sorry! Actually this was pretty easy and only took me two days to finish (unlike the week projects usually take me). And the jumper I made before I left town so that's kind of cheating.

oh here is the newest pirate mickey! anastasia loved taking some pics for me!

Love this! So cute!

Did I ever show you all my Back to school Preppy Minnie set. Josephine loved this set!

Wow, this is super cute! So simple but perfect in every way!

I was able to get just enough juice in my camera battery to snap a few pics and upload. Here is the Halloween set. Simple, but very cute on!

Love this idea! Very cute candy corn!

hello everyone,

i made an ariel dress for my dd6 but i have messed up the straps because when she puts it on the front puckers out too much(halterneck). i also messed up on the ariel applique. i cheated my doing her face on my embroidery machine and accidently set the machine to do her nose in black thread. so them i realised i would have to do all her skin outlined in black otherwise her nose would stand out to much. anyway here is a photo but i think it would look better if her skin and nose where done in a brownish tan colour. (p.s this is an outfit i CASEd from another outfit i saw a while ago on that little auction site;) ) front-

I think Ariel really looks good and I wouldn't have known it wasn't the way you intended if you hadn't said anything. I hope you can get the front from puckering.

I was jut getting back online, and I said something about how cute your daughter was to my son, and he said, "You mean that little girl that looks like a mix between Lydia and Tessa?" I never thought about it before, but she does!

Oh, she would be honored to be a part of your family. She looks at all the pictures with me and loves you and Heather!

If anyone is up right now... I CAN'T GET MY MINNIE DOT'S TO MATCH!!! Grrr. matching pattern is a super pet peave of mine and I am going NUTS!!!

...t.

What? They are supposed to match? :scared1:

Ok, I am racing off to church now! I can't wait to see what everyone does today!

One more question for all you creative gals and guys out there.

I have found plenty of ways to organize bows and clips but how do I organize headbands! My DD6 has decided these are what she wants to wear right now but I find them all over. I need a place for her to put the away.....hep!

I don't know if you got an answer yet (I'm still got some reading to do). This is probably not the best way, but it works for us. I have a glass hurricane (the kind you would put a candle or something in) on DD's bathroom counter. I put all of her little hair curlies inside the hurricane, and I hang her headbands around the outside rim of the hurricane. It's pretty with all of the colors, and it keeps everything in one spot.

I'm headed off to church, so I won't be in for a few hours. If you would like for me to take a pic, PM me and I'll post a pic for you.

Very cute! Are those hotfix rhinestones? I never thought about doing it to everyday clothes...I've got a hotfix setter that I've used on dance costumes for years. It's so easy, I really should do it!

Yes, they are hotfix! I used the hotfix "rhinestuds" that I purchsed off of www.hotfixqueen.com . They are less expensive, and have lots of shine. They're not actually "stones", but give the same effect. I figured for a project that was going to be worn so little, I'd opt for using the less expensive version.

I struggled with headbands for quite a while - then had an inspiration.

You know those canisters you can buy for the kitchen to put spoons, spatulas, and the like in? We use one of those. I had the fortune of finding one at Marshalls (or the like) in PINK! (Kitchenaid - pink enameled metal)

Now, can someone help me out? A while back there was a link for buying plain headbands to decorate that I cannot find. JoAnns and Michaels only sell satin ones in the wedding area and I can't find any on Voldemort.

I just bought some and I think it was ribbonsandbowsohmy.com. They shipped really fast.

No, I didn't but it's just as well, they probably wouldn't have liked it. SIL and DB hated the shoes :sad2: After that, I thought for certain after that they wouldn't like the outfit. They said they did like it, I wonder if DN3 even got to see the shoes :confused3 They never have her open her gifts until she gets home so I have no idea. The shoes came before the outfit and all of it had to be rushed as my DN3 B-day party was moved up a week at the last minute :rolleyes1 I wound up begging the designers to rush and have it all overnighted. I did tell DB and SIL to return it all to me after the shoe comments if they didn't like it as I would save it for when my other DSIL has children. DN3's mom offered to give it back after DN3 wore it to WDW in case I wanted to hold on to it to give to my other SIL down the road  I said no, that it was hers to keep. I would never re-gift after it was worn  DB did apologize for having "different tastes" I said it wasn't necessary, if I had kids and they gave me something plain an unimaginative for my kids I would not like it one bit :lmao:

I wound up buying instructions on how to make bows on Voldemort that also contained video so I can follow along.

Sorry, I just needed to vent :scared:

Very cute! Did you find bows to match?

What?!?!?! They didn't like Dena's JoJo? And those shoes were adorable!!! How disappointing, to put so much thought into a gift and to not get the reaction you expected!! If DD opened a gift like that for her birthday, I think I would fall over, knowing all the time (and love) that went into the outfit!! Crazy!!!

calypso - WHAT!!!!!!! OMG I can't believe anyone would not like those shoes. Let alone tell you they didn't like them. We all like them. :goodvibes

That sounds like my brother. We call him Uncle no fun. He gave my DD3 a responsibility chart for her birthday!

Oh, that is unreal! I can't believe they didn't like them. I really can't believe they told you that!

DB actially said, and I quote, "Those shoes are hideous." I told him that everyone I know, myself, friends, DM, friends of DM thought they were absolutely ADORABLE and just darling

DB and SIL did say that they thought Dena's outfit was cute. I can only wonder if it was sincere though. I explained to DB after the shoe comment that the shoes and outfit were custom made, and he asked what it cost and I told him. His reaction was much like this :scared1: which was why I said I'd like them back if it was only going to sit in a drawer or closet, not be enjoyed by DN3 and eventually be given away to Goodwill. I appreciate the honesty. I see Gymboree gift cards in the future for DN3  I would be shocked to get pics of her in the outfit as she is 3 years old and I only have one picture of her :confused3 Well I keep trying, not much more I can do.

Thanks for the support, it means a lot! :grouphug:

:lmao: You painted such a great picture with your words ...
I could totally see it, as I read that ...
but you forgot the diet pepsi in mom's hand ;) ...
my hubby would have a wrench in the other hand, for sure.

Oh no it would have been Wild Cherry Pepsi, and are you inferring that if the husband had a wrench there might be some plumbers crack? Oh that is really easy to picture on my DH especially after the beer being in one hand!

Great work everyone. I was very impressed with the Ariel applique a few pages back--I am going to attempt something similar for my DD who will be turning 3 in October. She wants an Ariel party. Since it's October, do you think I should use white material for the top or black? White seems too "summer" for me. I'm in NJ so the weather really turns in October.

Great job on the Monster Inc. top and twirl skirt! The backpacks posted were a great idea--great way to get the kids to carry some of their own stuff around the parks! ;)

I just finished a halloween outfit for my DD but I love the candy corn outfit--might have to make CASE so she'll have two outfits to wear!

I don't think I am going to get to much sewing in the next few weeks. I am due any minute (literally) now and most of my time with be tending to a newborn and my two other kids.

Happy sewing everyone!

I am so sorry for you. Nothing hurts like family. Sometimes I could take blunt critism in the face, but if someone in my family says one "little" thing, it hurts terribly and I think about it for days. Keep trying with your niece. One day she may appreciate it, and need it. Just imagine if she is like all of us here, and really likes all of thes cool custom things, and her parents don't. she will definately need to call someone who can sympathize. to you!

I'm really sorry that you had to hear that calypso  At least you didn't make them yourself, now that would be crushing! Maybe you'll find out later that your dn actually loved them and she's a little rebel!!!!

Now, I'm off to watch embroidery tutorials (thank you hkite!) and try to finish Sebastian. I know, I should be in church, but somehow our alarm didn't work right this morning. I'm sure it has nothing to do with the fact that it sits next to our tv and dd2 was watching Blue's Clues yesterday and pushing buttons

I wish I had quoted a pic so I could try that thumbnail method. Oh well, I'm sure I will have my chance!

Good luck Blakely! :grouphug: make sure someone lets us know how everything goes and post pics of the new baby!

Oh my word.

Ha ha ha, I can just see it now, she goes to school in khaki's and a plain white shirt but, changes into her custom's when she gets to school. :rotfl:

OMG I would be so hurt. We don't have a lot of money so I try to make a lot of my Christmas blankets scarf's and such I would be so hurt to find out that someone didn't like my gift. Even if they didn't care for it if DN3 likes it then it should not matter. I am sorry that you hard efforts went un noticed. My three girls loved just looking at it on the computer If that tells you how cute we think it was.
:thumbsup2

Speaking of which, I made a peasant top to go under my DD7's Alice dress (for our 1900 Park Fare breakfast). It's cute. I just haven't figured out what I'll put in her hair. She just had it cut for Locks of Love, so it's MUCH easier to manage! I thought about finding a black headband like Alice's (with a bow), but now I'm thinking I may just use a blue bow.

LAZYDAZY8---- What a kind and generous DD you have:banana:     !!! My son is currently in luekemia remission. He liked being bald and now has hair for the first time in a year. The girls at his clinic do not. It is amazing how much more girly a little hair can make those children feel. As a cancer mom---- Thank you to your little girl!!!!!! Peolple may never realize how much that hair meant to a little girl. :hippie:

My son is still on chemo but is doing wonderful. He is a tough cookie!!!

Also how does anyone have the time for all of this sewing?? I need some time management help I believe. Thanks--- Mindy

I will spread your message onto Mally. She is only 7, but I think she is starting to get "it"... that doing good to help make things better for others is what it's all about! It's been a great lesson and she's darn cute to boot! We will keep your son in our prayers.
