Way back on page 600 or so someone asked about the pirate mickey heads.![]()
Then I cut out a rectangle for the scarf on Mickey's head. I hemmed it so it wouldn't fray in the laundry. Then I used a fabric marker to trace the round part of the top of mickey's head minus the ears. I stitched a gathering/basting stitch around where I had drawn with the marker. Pull the thread and it helps your fabric bunch up into a circle. fold the raw edges under.
THen I got a needle and red thread and sat on the couch and watched tv and hand sewed the scarfs onto the heads. If you make little stitches along the top you can't see them at all. Tie a knot in the end of the little scarf and there you have it.
Tomorrow I can post pictures. I need to get off to bed I gotta get up early to get the kids ready for school. They start school early here in Georgia!
Thanks so much for responding. I was beginning to wonder if I was asking on the wrong board. None of my posts have been answered until now.
Not sure if I totally understand where you're marking and gathering if you could expand a little more that would help. Do you lay the rectangle fabric out, lay the head pattern on it, trace the top of head and stitch there? What do you do with what's left around the top?
I have my shirts and fabric washed so I'm going to practice on some scrap tshirts before I start on my disney shirts.
I homeschool my youngest and we started on the 6th. My son went to Orientation last night and starts next Wednesday. Seems like schools start earlier and earlier doesn't it?

I've been to HL, Joann's, and Hancocks and can't find anything I've wanted. I didn't see this and I really want the retro colored spiral mickey fabric. I have a teenager so the prints I found she will not wear. I did buy me some great clothes and I found some appliques so I'm going to try and tempie them on for our trip.

I think we all have it on here!!!
Call around to Joanns and see if you can find some. I haven't seen it in my area since early summer. Disney fabrics sell fast around here.
I am going to do it on several post since I have a bunch. First up a non-disney but is for all my MD friends!
I hope you do get a machine from your DMIL, you'll have "sew" much fun once you do!
my serger!!! I think once you used one, you'll never want to go back! One drawback, if you make a mistake on a serger it is MUCH harder to correct than on a machine... and that is if it is correctible AT ALL!
I like it a lot!
My DS1 would not go to bed last night so I didn't get to play with it, so I got up early this morning to use it. I am kind of frustrated and have a few questions. I really got this machine because of all of the high recommendations on it and I wanted a machine that I could try to applique. That said, I was playing with the zig zag and applique stitches and for some reason the bobin color is what color the zig zag is. Also the zig` zag shows up on the bottom side of the fabric. I am doing something wrong? Or is something backwards on my machine??? Thanks for the help. My other machine had a zig zag (not adjustable) but it would show up zig zag on the top and bottom of the fabric. I am just getting really frustrated!!!!
