Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes Part 3

I did have an idea for some of my extra Wally World minnie dot.

I am going to make an A line skirt for myself! I thought an A line skirt with a black under skirt with ruffle would be really cute. I can wear it with a white tee and my girls will giggle with delight. I think I will keep it a secret until we get ready for Chef Mickey's!

I am not going to make it until the spring. I have lost about 75 pounds since I had my baby and I want to loose some more. (Don't we all.)

How FUN!!! My daughter would love it if I matched her! Congrats on the weight loss!!

Well, here is the Wiggles outfit. I am not really finished with it. I am changing the ruffle on the pants. It will be one of the ruffles that goes on top of the hem, so I can hide part of the appliqués. They came really big so I am going to cut them in half and it will look like they are peaking out of the ruffle. I hope :) I technically am not doing the appliquéing. I had to call a seamstress to do them since I really messed up the small one I tried on the back. I should have the outfit back by Friday. I will post updated pic's when it is really finished.

Anyway- This is the Butterick apron dress. I just lined it with fabric, so I didn’t have to use the seam binding. I also pieced together the back out of all the Wiggles colors, since I could not get Wiggles fabric in time. Please be honest about what you think. I don't want DD to look silly.

*** Disclaimer*** this is the first real outfit I have made. I have never used a pattern before. It is not perfect, but I think it is ok! Also, DD will have matching bows (I make them), a white tee under it and I am not sure on shoes. I wanted M2M, but I don't have time to order them and my drawing skills are worse than my sewing skills. So I think it will be keds, with matching ribbon instead of laces.

I am also open to any ideas you all have to spice it up a bit. I don't want it to be clownish, just Wiggle Fabulous :)

She is not climbing the wall... It just looks like it:) You can see the patch I had to make to cover the botched appliqué. It was sooooo BAD!

Thanks for looking.

Oh My!! This is adorable (almost as adorable as your little girl!). No need for a disclaimer - you did a fantastic job!

Here is my latest CASE outfit. It was my first attempt at the halter style dress. At first my older DD said she didn't want one but then she saw it on her sister and decided she'd take one too. :)

Thanks for all the great ideas.

I LOVE this! Did you use a pattern - or just wing it? I have a hard time sewing without a pattern but would LOVE to make this for DD. I am also wondering if the pattern has a version with straps instead of halter style since DD has to wear sleeves to school and I can put either a short or long sleeved shirt under it.

o2 - I love the diego overalls.

I want to know all the answers to your questions too!

We are off to Alaska to visit my BF and her family. I am going to TRY and keep current on the board - not sure how much posting I will get in though. Have a great week all!

I would NOT change a thing! It is absolutely adorable.

BTW- After your kids were their customs how do you wash them? I am petrified to throw them in the washer!

I wash my DD's with our usual laundry. Most I hang to dry but some, like appliqued tees, I dry as usual, too. I'm not someone who wants to fuss with handwashing, dry cleaning, etc. I also want the clothes I make, whether they are for her or another child, to be able to hold up to normal wear and tear so being able to wash them as usual is a must IMO.

Awwww lots of cute outfits, I love them all!!!

I better go get sewing, I have been putting it off and now I have 4.5 weeks to go and a million things to do, yikes!

I wash mine in the machine using the "hand wash" cycle. I hang them to dry and then iron.

Well, I can say the bodice is created about the same as the corset top I shared. I shorten it, change the back to have elastic in casing instead of shirring and make the straps so they can button but otherwise they are identical. If you can do that, it's not too hard to add the skirt section... although I won't attempt to try to explain how I did the tiered ruffles because I need to keep some "trade secrets".
I can certainly understand that, you've been VERY generous with the directions allready!! Thank you!

Your daughter's hair is the same color that my sister's was growing up and so naturally I think it is beautiful! Your daughter looks like she has some nice waves. My sister's hair was stick straight on the top and curly underneath. My mom thought a short cut would make it curlier all over and my sister still calls that the kindergarten disaster! The entire year people thought she was a boy.
I tried cutting Lydia's hair shorter once. I thought it would make it curlier, but all I did was cut the curls off! It was just past shoulder length. Which was a lot shorter than I'd planned, but when curly hair is wet, it looks a LOT longer! OOPS! Anyway, more of the curl came back after it grew out some. Now, I just trim the ends!

I like the dress and your dd is beautiful!

Thank you! You know I think Gracie is gorgeous too!

I would not have noticed your kids running amuck, since mine were already running amuck!!!! I was too busy pulling my hair out and picking out my patterns!!!:rotfl2:

Oh you are so lucky on the ruffler foot, I paid the $30, at the Mishawaka Hancock!!!. I was asking the lady about the ruffler foot the other day and she of course had no idea what I was really talking about, I even had my other foot to compare it to and she couldn't really tell me which one would work. I finally just picked one out on my own, as my children were running amuck of course!
My son told me that I should wear my LGMH all the time, since I never know when we'll see another Diser and not evern know it. I'm thinking maybe I will attach it to my purse or something! I might have seen you and not even realized it. Although, everyone else at Hancock's that day was childless.

By the way-

We booked our trip today! WoooHoooooooooooooooo!

205 days to go!

YEAHHH!!!!!! How exciting!!!

Teresajoy,
your daughter is adorable! You just reminded me I should have this fabric somewhere too :)

Thanks! I can't wait to see what you come up with for this fabric! I gave some to my sister, so she will probably be making something with it too.

See, I told you "buy any and all Disney fabric when you see it" because you never know when you'll need or want it!!!!!!! Teresa, Lydia looks so cut in it!
I totally and wholeheartedly agree with that theory!!! And, thanks for the compliment about Lydia!

She looks ADORABLE!!!! I love the bloomers!!!

Ok, here's what I've done so far!
My first custom! For DD's first day of preschool

She is gorgeous, and the outfits are adorable!

We'll be there Sept 14 too. Gracie will be wearing this.

I see you got the sash problem fixed! It looks great! She is just absolutely the cutest!
I love this!
I was pressing away and all of a sudden it smelled terrible. I'm wondering what that horrible smell was. I looked at the can of starch, and it wasn't starch. It was spray glue. Now I make sure I double check what can is sitting on the end of the ironing board.

Let me just say :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:

There was one with Teflon for stain resistance. I should have grabbed that to coat my 2 year old with every morning. ;)

You ladies are funny today!!! I love that!

Your daughters are stunning!!! Great job on these adorable dresses!!! They look so cute!

The dress and your daughter are both adorable! My dd loves Lilo but I havent seen the fabric anywhere. :confused3
It looks like you live in the middle of nowhere from this picture. I do and I love it.

Thanks for the compliment! I wish we lived in the middle of nowhere. But, if you look just to the right of the end of our garage, you will see a window that belongs to our neighbor's garage. The house on the other side of us is just as close, but it's our bedrooms that line up over there! But, it is a nice place to live overall.

Do you know what DH said? Those tops (meaning pillowcase dresses) are so "ghetto." What does he know? :confused3 I stayed up til midnight working on this---no machine so it's all by hand and he calls it ghetto. Urrrrr! I will post pics this weekend.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: HUSBANDS!!! What do they know????

Is it just me, or do we have the most beautiful children in the world!!!
Why yes, yes we do!!!

Silly question. How do you sew on rick rack? It looks like the outfits I already have are straight stitched which would explain why zig zag was such a pain. lol

That's the way I do it, with a straight stitch.

It's adorable!!! So is she!!! You really did a great job on this!

Someone please save me from 593 pages of re-reading!

Someone was making a family of coordinating shirts from one blue Mickey fabric - mom, dad, son, teenage girl. There were a bunch of photoshop pictures showing different ideas.

What was the shirt for the dad? I thought it was McCalls, but just went through all their men's shirts and can't find a thing.

Thanks!

Deb

Travelingal, Robin, was the one making those I belive. Is this the shirt you were looking for? I found it in the patterns and fabric section of the photobucket site, it says Simplicity 4287:

Okay, I've got 50 questions (okay, maybe not quite 50 but...)

1. Where can I get patterns or directions for:
a. the cute tank a-line top that wraps around to the back and ties.
b. the gorgeous three tier tutu skirts
c. the patchwork twirly skirts
I have patterns for a tutu skirt in my bookmarks site, I haven't made one from it, so I'm not sure how good it is, but it might help you out.

And, I have a patchwork twirly skirt pattern there too.
Link in my siggy or first page, first post, of this thread.

3. Where is everyone getting a lot of their fabrics? I can NEVER find any of the Minnie dot!
I usually find the best stuff at either Walmart, Hobby Lobby or Joann's. Hancock's also has a nice selection, but I don't get there much.

Adorable!!! Great job!
The Pooh pillowcase dress is adorable!!! The fabriccs you picked look really prettty together, I can't wait to see it all finsished.

Ok, well since i started this thread i have like many others, decided i want to learn to sew. Let me just start out saying i have ZERO experience, ok well a home ec class in 9th grade, but i dont remember much.
We are going to wdw in one month. I plan to get the brother cs6000i this weekend. I have a few questions...
1. What are the easiest directions for the pillowcase dress? I want to do the ones with ribbons at the shoulders.

2. Does anyone have a pattern for some capris or shorts with a ruffle on the bottom. Something easy and that will be small enough for my little squirt.

4.Am i better off trying to do an applique tshirt or attempting a shirt something like this:
DSC03260.jpg

3. I also really like this, does anyone know the pattern #. I would prefer not to have the open back though...

Thank you for any help. I did make pillows this weekend on an old machine of my SIL. I need to practice a lot more though.......

My hotfix crystals just came in and I finished up my tee! I really like how it turned out. It was SO simple! Now I need to make one for my DD to match, and now my mom wants one too!

Ok, I am going to be making this soon:

Question...Should I use the standard red gingham as shown or use this gingham:

Keep in mind that the outfit has to match this one:

If I use the red/black gingham, will it match my daugther's outfit? Which one looks better?

I would use the red and white gingham. They will look really cute!

I didn't use a pattern but basically it is the same as Castle Creations cow outfit (w/o the double layer skirt) but with the ties behind the neck. I'm not sure what pattern she used, if she did, for that though. It's basically a lot of rectangles cut to fit my child. I'd be happy to tell you what I did if you would like.

CASE- Copy And Steal Everything (it was coined by someone else, but I don't remember who to give them proper credit.)

This thread is so hard to keep up with. Every time I come into it I've got 50 new pages!

This is a couple outfits I've been working on. I did not make the JoJo top. I met someone on ebay who I've been able to explain just what I want and she'll make it. VERY reasonably priced too. I did do the capris, well embellished Childrens Place capris, added the ruffle on the bottom and then the JoJo pictures.

For my older daughter's outit I need to still sew a Pirate Minnie applique to the front. I ran out of black thread! :scared1: I also need to redo the straps, they're a bit too long. This was my first attempt at sewing anything like this.
